Chapter 31

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Rule Number 3 - If a feeder ever feels unsafe or unheard with their client, a report should be made to the local feeder protection agency immediately. A feeder’s safety is paramount.

Mr. Van Buren drove Avery home after he wrote out his statement. It made Avery feel a little better not to be wandering around outside where the chimera could show up at any time, but he struggled to settle in his apartment. He left a message for his food to be delivered outside his door and waited until they walked away before fetching it. Then he spent the rest of the night jumping at every noise until finally falling into a fitful sleep.

He woke up with a start in the middle of the night when someone knocked on his door. There was no bleary period between waking and sleep after that. Avery was fully awake and terrified. He grabbed his phone, typing out the number for the police, but paused before pressing call. Tip toeing to the door, he peeked through the peephole and sucked in a sharp breath when he realized who was on the other side.

“Ozen?”

Hurrying to unlock the door, he barely had it open before Ozen stormed inside. He looked angry, and he barely looked behind him to lock the door before stalking forward. Avery took a few steps back on instinct, and Ozen paused for a moment before prowling forward again. For every step forward Ozen took, Avery took one backward until he tripped and nearly fell. Ozen lunged, catching Avery against his chest, startling a squeak from him as they both fell onto the mattress.

“O-Ozen, what–”

Ozen cut him off by crashing his mouth onto Avery’s. Avery floundered, confused, but when Ozen’s tongue shoved past his lips and tangled with his, Avery melted. The incubus could kiss. That shouldn’t have surprised him, but with his rules against kissing, he hadn’t been sure Ozen had ever done it before. But of course Ozen knew what he was doing. There was the perfect amount of lips, tongue, and teeth to drive Avery wild. It was against the rules in the contract to kiss, but since Ozen started it, Avery didn’t think it’d be held against him. And it felt too good to stop and ask.

This time, he felt when Ozen’s magic latched onto him. Every time it happened, it was like the pleasure dialed up a few degrees and Avery could feel Ozen’s hunger tugging at his core. Between that and Ozen’s lips, Avery was lost in what was happening. He barely felt Ozen pulling his pajamas off until they were skin on skin. The shock of it made Avery groan and his kisses turned desperate. His hands skimmed along Ozen’s skin, only to be caught and pinned above his head by one of Ozen’s hands. His other hand held Avery’s jaw, moving him however he wanted while he continued to plunder Avery’s mouth. Avery couldn’t move without Ozen’s permission, and he was completely fine with that.

He wasn’t sure how long they spent kissing like that. Long enough for Avery to grow needy and start tugging helplessly at Ozen’s hold on his wrists. Ozen was straddling him, but he hovered just out of range to give Avery any sort of friction. It was maddening, and Avery could do nothing about it with his hands pinned.

When he whimpered, Ozen finally broke away, trailing hot kisses along Avery’s jaw. He had so many questions, but he was so delirious with lust that he couldn’t ask any of them at that exact moment. He could only watch as Ozen straddled his waist, positioned Avery’s cock at his entrance, and sank down onto it.

Every nerve in his body lit up like a fireworks display, and he threw his head back on a shout.

“Ozen!”

They hadn’t discussed penetration of any kind. Ozen was determined to take it slow, so this came out of nowhere, and Avery wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of pleasure that slammed into his system. Ozen didn’t give him a chance to catch his breath before he was riding Avery’s cock like he was just as desperate as Avery felt. The slick heat of Ozen’s body wrapped around his cock made his eyes roll into his head, his body going taut from the pleasure.

He wasn’t going to last long. It was too good, and he’d had no time to mentally prepare for it. His balls drew up tight and his head lashed side to side as he fought back his release, but it was no use. It slammed into him so hard, it felt like his soul left his body and he went blind from the pleasure. It dragged on and on with each grind of Ozen’s hips, and when he whimpered from the overwhelming sensitivity, Ozen’s magic flooded him, bringing him back to full hardness in seconds.

“O-Ozen, please!” Avery sobbed.

It felt so good. Too good. And he could do nothing but feel with the way he was pinned beneath Ozen’s body. He considered for a moment asking Ozen to stop, but when he opened his eyes to do so, he saw Ozen’s expression. He had never seen such ferocious bliss before. It felt good for Ozen, too. That knowledge sent Avery’s desire skyrocketing and Ozen groaned heavily, his hips stuttering for a moment before he picked up speed again.

Time was a difficult concept while Ozen was riding him like this. It felt like it lasted hours and only minutes at the same time. He felt another release barreling down on him, and his toes curled in anticipation. He wanted to come with Ozen, wanted to hold out long enough, but he wasn’t sure he could. He tugged at his wrists again, but Ozen wouldn’t budge. He dipped and crushed their mouths together, and when Ozen’s tongue stroked along his, it was all over. Ozen’s body tightened around him, ripping his orgasm from him without warning. Ozen was quick to follow, his release splashing over Avery’s belly and chest.

Avery was panting and felt fatigue drag at his senses. He fought it, desperately wanting to ask Ozen what all this was about, but blackness swirled on the edges of his vision and he passed out before he had a chance.

He was alone when he woke up the following morning to the sound of his alarm. He almost wondered if the night prior had been a dream, but he recognized the exhausted feeling tugging at him. A restless night’s sleep wasn’t enough to combat a quick feed. It answered his question on whether last night lasted minutes or hours, though.

Forcing his tired body to sit up took work. It felt like a dozen sandbags were dumped into his eyes and his limbs were heavy. He stumbled to the bathroom, hoping a shower would get him moving. He had to get to work. Hopefully Mr. Van Buren would be more understanding than the research floor had been with Avery’s sluggishness.

Lifting his arms to wash his hair was surprisingly difficult. His muscles were sore from trying to tug free of Ozen’s grasp. His whole body felt out of sorts, and he wished Ozen were still there to comfort him. Last night was entirely consensual and Avery had no issues with that part, but waking up alone after something so intense was hard on him, and he felt a little like he needed a cuddle to set him to rights. Not to mention the weepy feeling he always got from over exhaustion after a quick feed. It wasn’t pleasant, and he wasn’t looking forward to working today in the slightest.

A familiar town car was waiting out front when he stepped out of his apartment building. His chest tightened momentarily, foolishly hoping it was Ozen there to pick him up, but the back seat was empty when the driver ushered him inside with a smile.

“Where’s Mr. Hawksley?”

The driver frowned at him through the rearview mirror. “Away on personal business.”

His frown said Avery was supposed to know that, but Ozen was at his apartment last night, so he wasn’t sure what to believe. He was confused and exhausted and contemplating calling in sick when they pulled up in front of Spellbound. When a few of the golems from security met him at the car, Avery’s confusion compounded.

He forced a polite smile for the driver when he opened the door for him, hugging his messenger bag to his chest. “Uh… Thank you. For the ride. And my door…”

“You’re welcome, Mr. Whitman. I’ll see you this evening.”

“You will?” Avery questioned, turning to track the driver, but he was back in the car and driving away before Avery could blink. That left him alone with the golems, who looked down at him curiously. Avery had to crane his neck to look them in the eyes.

“Good morning,” he said uncertainly.

“G’mornin’,” one of them drawled. Learning new languages wasn’t easy for golems, and Avery wasn’t familiar enough with their language to attempt to reproduce it, so after a few more seconds of staring, he headed awkwardly inside with the golems following behind him. They left him alone after he reached the front desk, leaving him even more confused than before.

“Good morning, Avery,” Clarita greeted. Well, one of her heads did. Another was busy answering the phone, and a few more were on the computer. It always fascinated Avery that they could all think independently. He wished he could split his attention that efficiently.

“Good morning, Clarita. How are you?”

She tipped her head back and forth, and if she had shoulders, Avery would probably have seen her shrugging them in reply.

“Mr. Cunningham requested you meet him in his office. Do you know where it is?”

“Uh… Yes. One floor below Mr. Hawksley’s office. Did he say why?”

She snorted, and several of her heads rolled their eyes. “He never does. He barely stands still long enough to give me a message before he’s off again. If he wasn’t such an amazing ideas man, I’d be questioning his position in this company. If you don’t mind, this package came for him this morning. It’d save the mail pixies the effort if you brought it up with you.” She pointed to a box with the tip of her tail.

“No problem,” Avery assured her, taking the box. He felt like he just needed to accept that he was going to be confused today. He was too tired to sort out why he wasn’t going to Mr. Van Buren’s office like before. He gave Clarita a wave and scanned his ID to get past the turnstiles.

While waiting for the elevator, he heard the familiar voice of those jerks from research. Today was just getting worse and worse. He debated turning tail and using the elevator to Ozen’s office and taking the stairs down one floor, but they spotted him before he could decide.

“Ugh. Let’s take the next one. I wouldn’t want to catch anything.”

Avery’s shoulders went up, and he stared intently at the label on the box. He was not going to embarrass himself by crying, no matter how tired and out of sorts he was.

“Did you hear he ditched out last Friday? Just completely abandoned his job and got away with it too. Must be nice to bend over for special treatment.”

“Mr. Varzin. Who, exactly, are you speaking to?”

Avery hadn’t noticed Mr. Martell standing next to him. The goblin was glaring at the men behind them, practically seething. The one who seemed to hate Avery the most, Varzin, was quick to feign innocence and he and his friends hurried into the elevator to avoid answering. Avery chose to wait for the next one, and Mr. Martell joined him, glaring at the group as the door slid closed.

“Does that happen often?”

“It’s fine,” Avery mumbled.

“That’s not what I asked.”

The goblin was at least a foot shorter than him, but he didn’t lack any backbone because of it. He had a stern look on his face, and he wouldn’t let Avery squirm out of the conversation until he admitted the truth.

“Sometimes. Not all species like humans. I’m fine, though.”

“Have you told Hawksley?”

“Yes,” Avery said with a quick jerk of his head. It technically wasn’t a lie, because Avery had told Ozen people were harassing him. He just didn't mention who. Or what was being said. Or any real details. Ozen had enough to deal with, and Avery wasn’t looking to cause trouble. He didn’t want to lose his job. If he had a job for much longer. With the way Ozen was avoiding him, he wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Especially after the confusing feeding last night.
