Chapter 31

The man was on a mission. Genny wasn’t naive in the slightest, after all.
But he was right. The last thing she wanted to do was deal with her mother after the hell of a night she’d had. Add in Gunn , who hovered and fussed just as badly, if not worse, and she’d be driven right up the wall completely.
She was starting to get an inkling that Chad had a real plan in mind where she was concerned here.
That sank in fast—when he drove her to his condo in the opposite direction of her home. Or her Greer’s apartment. Or Aubrey’s house. Or anywhere else she could have escaped to.
“I could have gone to Chantal’s.” She had to give it a token resistance, right? What she wanted to do was snuggle up in that man’s arms and just forget the hectic chaos ending in disaster that had been the last ten hours.
“Apparently, she’s out with your brother this evening. I’m not sure why but I have my suspicions. And I’m going to have to kick his ass in the morning.”
“Um, are you being a bit hypocritical here? I think Gene is after the very same thing from your sister that you are after from his sister.”
“And that is why I am going to kick his ass. He should not be thinking about my baby sister that way.”
“Yet you can think of his that way?” She shot him a look. He shot her a wicked Chad-wicked grin in return.
“Yes. Because my intentions are entirely honorable where you are concerned, Genesis Hiller. You can count on that.”
“What exactly do you mean by honorable?” And why did the look in those blue eyes have her insides heating more than they had ever heated before.
Genny was practically boiling here.
“I’m sure you’ll figure it out along the way.”
