Characters

Halloween

Gertrude Nightshade: The female main character of The Heartbreak Hex. She is a witch who owns a thriving potion shop, Eye of Newt, in the heart of the Halloween Neighborhood. She has two sisters, Beatrix, her older sister and Gretchen, her identical twin. She is engaged to Vlad Everdark.

Vlad Everdark: The male main character of The Heartbreak Hex . He is a vampire and the mayor of the Halloween Neighborhood. He is very charming and affable, but takes his duties very seriously. He is engaged to Gertrude Nightshade.

Gretchen Nightshade: A talented candy witch living in the Halloween Neighborhood. She is sisters with Beatrix, her older sister, and Gertrude, her identical twin. She is shy, but curious and open to other holidays. Her best friend is Nick Kringle.

Beatrix Nightshade: A witch who is a passionate lobbyist at City Hall. She especially champions lost causes and the downtrodden and is very good at what she does. She has two younger sisters who are twins, Gertrude and Gretchen. Her main rival is a Valentine's lobbyist, Curtis Heartson, who drives her crazy.

Bridget Shadesglow: A banshee who works at City Hall as Vlad's secretary. She is very no-nonsense with a strident personality, but has a secret romantic streak and roots for true love.

Christmas

Nicklaus Kristopher Kringle V: A Christmas elf who is the oldest son and heir of Santa Claus. He works at City Hall with his dad and oversees the candy production for the holiday. He has two younger sisters, Merry and Carol, and two younger brothers, Frankincense and Noel. His best friend is Gretchen Nightshade.

Santa Claus ("Old" Nicklaus Kristopher Kringle IV): A Christmas elf and mayor of the Christmas neighborhood. Part of the Kringle Dynasty. He's very traditional and stubborn. He is married to Mrs. Claus (Jessica Kringle) and has five children.

Valentine's

Curtis Heartson: A cupid lobbyist at City Hall who champions the interests of the Valentine's Neighborhood. His rival is Beatrix Nightshade and he enjoys annoying her.
