Journal VI
Reasons to Leave The Fish & Chip Shop Around The Corner:
I won’t have to admit to Paul that I fudged the truth about my job (office-based career change is more believable than me somehow ending up back at the chippy)
I’ll finally have moved on from my seventeen-year-old self (new flat, new job, new Cleo)
I can cross the career bits off my Grown-Up To-Do List
I won’t be quite so tempted to snack on chips so often
Better coffee in the staff room?
Reasons to Stay at The Fish & Chip Shop Around The
Corner:
The customers are so wonderful (except Riley, who is a big, phoney pig)
The staff are more like friends than colleagues (except Bridget, who’s a bossy old bag)
Every day is different and fun (who doesn’t like dancing around to Seventies hits while mopping the floor?)
The commute is minimal (c. 25 steps from living room to shop door, and not a blob of chewing gum in sight)
I love it. Every last bit of it (even the wobbly chairs in the back room)
