CHAPTER SIX

DANTE

––––––––

Fucking hell.

Adelina’s questions kickstarted a thought process that’s leading me down a rabbit hole.

Have Mia and Connor Barrett got something to do with all of this?

I mean, what are the chances of Braxton meeting Mia and then suddenly her family gets slaughtered?

Who the hell is this guy?

Now he’s connected with my sister, brought the FBI to our door, and my father is dead.

It can’t be a coincidence.

And what does it have to do with the billionaire Barrett?

I punch at the keyboard, ignoring Addy’s don’t break it and google them.

Braxton Rossi doesn’t exist.

Of course he fucking doesn’t. The motherfucker.

I never thought he was a saint, but I had this feeling he was a decent guy. Not Man of the Year, but someone who appeared to love my sister and could be a lucrative partner for our business.

I was fooled.

Both Salvatore and I failed the family when we did our research. Both he and my father paid with their lives.

While I spared Braxton’s.

He owes me.

Whoever he fucking is, I’m going to hunt him down and get my fucking sister back.

Why did he take her?

Love?

I’m starting to question everything.

It’s been three days now, and he hasn’t made a claim. So is it some undercover asshole?

If I’m to claim Adelina—and I am—then I need Gianna home. Things are going to get messy.

She’s not marrying Braxton Whateverhisnameis.

No fucking way!

And when I find them both, he is going to owe me.

I think I know just how he can pay me back. Aside from returning my sister to me.

Or I will kill him and his entire fucking family.

Connor is easy to search for. He’s one of America’s wealthiest entrepreneurs. I glance over at his vast portfolio and learn that he owns a security company where he employs a ton of paramilitary guys. And girls.

Inter-fucking-resting.

Could they be doing work for the government?

Undercover work?

The pieces of the puzzle start clicking into place. I lean back in the chair and link my hands behind my back, then spin around to face Addy.

“Don’t look at me like that,” she snaps.

I’m not in the mood to play games. I need a good sleep tonight to ensure I’m on form tomorrow. The crook in my neck is making me irritable.

“Choose your side, kitten, because I’m sleeping in your bed tonight. And don’t worry, I have no intention of touching you.”

I spot the flicker of disappointment in her eyes before she says, “Whatever. As long as you leave tomorrow.”

Oh, I will.

And she’s coming with me.
