“Babyyy,”Rex growled against Olson’s very round belly. “Hi.”

Olson laughed, fondness blooming through his chest. “I’m sure they can hear you.”

Rex pressed his mouth more firmly against Olson so the vibrations feathered through his body. “Mine. Ours.”

He laced their fingers together and looked up adoringly at Olson, and Olson’s heart fluttered. “I wonder if they’ll look more like me, or you.”

“You,” Rex said. “Beautiful Olson.”

“You are beautiful too.”

“Look like us.”

“Well, maybe one might look more like me, and the other more like you.”

Rex thought about it and nodded, dropping kisses all over Olson’s belly. Then one of the babies kicked, and happiness exploded through Rex’s face. Followed by a wince.

He nuzzled Olson’s belly again, rubbing where their child had kicked him.

“Sorry,” Rex said contritely.

Olson cupped Rex’s face and tugged him upward, kissing him hard. “It’s okay,” Olson whispered. “You always make it up to me.”

Rex did. He always rubbed Olson’s swollen feet even before Olson asked; he gave Olson backrubs and helped him to the restroom several times a day.

A knock came on the office door. Rex rose from his crouch, his nose twitching like he was trying to smell who it was.

Olson had never really asked about Rex’s sense of smell, but... something about him didn’t seem quite normal. Rex smelled things like food burning in the oven before it got too badly charred; he picked up the scent of rain before the clouds got dark. He especially loved burying his face in Olson’s neck and armpits, to the point where sometimes Olson wondered if part of Rex’s captivity had involved making him more animal than human.

It would explain why Rex still didn’t have a good grasp on language even now, nine months after he’d stepped into the Wine Shack for the first time.

It wasn’t something Olson wanted to ask about, though. There was no point in dragging Rex through those terrible memories.

When the door opened, it was Nate who stepped in. Olson raised his eyebrows.

“Got some news,” Nate said. “Good news.”

“What news?” Rex asked, sitting on the couch next to Olson and nuzzling his ear.

“Remember those alphas who went to your apartment? Taylor and I tracked down the contacts on their phones. We’ve eliminated their operation.”

Rex stared. Olson gripped Rex’s hand, his heart thumping. “The kidnappers?”

“Yeah. We pretended to communicate as those guys for a while, followed the food chain up to the kingpins and took them out.” Nate smiled crookedly. “Well, Tay took them out. I was happy to watch.”

“Um, do we owe you for it?” Olson asked. He’d heard from the grapevine that Taylor’s services could get pricey.

“Nah. You didn’t hire us for this job. Tay just wanted to do some cleanup.” Nate met Rex’s eyes. “The people who caught you and experimented on you, they’re dead.”

Rex sucked in a shuddering breath, and blew it out. He took a while to digest the information. Then he nodded, and pulled Olson against his chest. “Olson safe now. Babies safe.”

“Yes.” Nate nodded.

“Thank you,” Rex said, his voice thick. “I—I pay—”

“No, we don’t need payment.” Nate reached over, squeezing Rex’s shoulder. “Live your life. Be happy. That’s all we want.”

“Thank you,” Rex said again, blinking hard.

Olson couldn’t imagine what that had to feel like for him. He wrapped his arms around Rex and hugged him tight. “Thank you, Nate. Seriously. Your food and drinks here are on the house, for life. Taylor’s, too.”

Nate chuckled. “Thanks.” He glanced between Olson and Rex, and smiled more. “I’m glad you’ve been doing well.”

“Much better since you first met Rex,” Olson agreed. “He’s been settling in. We’re doing great.”

Nate nodded. “And your due date?”

“Soon. Really soon.” Olson rubbed his belly, which had been giving some practice contractions over the past couple days. “Rex has set up a nursery, and our parents have been plying us with all the baby-related things we can think of. Some we can’t even identify, but we’ll figure it out.”

Nate laughed. “Just don’t let your friends dump thirteen children on you to babysit all at once.”

Olson gasped. “Did they really?”

“They were trying to get Tay and I together.” Nate grinned. “Might’ve worked.”

“Thirteen,” Rex said, glancing at Olson.

“No, we’re not having thirteen kids,” Olson said flatly.

“I don’t recommend it,” Nate said with a dry smile. “Anyway, I’m off. It’s been busy at the fire station lately. Gotta catch me some shut-eye and then get up and be a dad.”

“Thanks again,” Olson said sincerely.

“Thank you,” Rex added.

Nate nodded and left, and Olson snuggled into his alpha. “How’re you feeling?” Olson murmured.

Rex sucked in a deep breath. He blinked several times like he was trying to get his thoughts in order. “Safe now,” he finally said, rubbing his chest. “Maybe... no more nightmare?”

“Gods, I hope so. I just want you to have some good sleep. Get some good dreams.”

“I have good dream.”

“Well, more than you already have. Can’t have too many good dreams.”

“You are good dream.” Rex grinned and pressed a kiss to Olson’s mouth. “I wake up. Find you. Is all good dream.”

Olson huffed, his lips pulling into a smile. “I guess our life is like a good dream. But it’s all real, you hear? None of that weird dreaming-in-a-coma thing. This is actually real.”

“I know.” Rex understood—they’d been watching TV together, shows that Olson could pause whenever Rex had questions. They had inside jokes now, things born from watching the same shows together, lines they quoted at each other from their favorite movies.

It was a lot like the relationship Olson used to share with George.

Rex scooped Olson off the couch and settled him on his lap, dropping kisses down Olson’s neck. He skimmed his lips up to nip at Olson’s ear, his breath hot on Olson’s skin.

“I love it when you bend over and show me your pretty hole,” Rex whispered.

One of the lines Olson had taught him to say.

“Gods,” Olson whispered, his breath rushing out of him.

“I want to open you with my fingers, and then my cock. Stretch you wide and give you every inch.” Rex licked his lips. Over his shoulder, Olson found his alpha with his eyes dark, his mouth pulled into a half-smile.

Olson moaned, squirming. “Fuck, you say those lines at the worst times.”

Rex raised his eyebrows. “Bad time?”

They’d mated in the office several times by this point. None of which was appropriate since Olson was supposed to be working.

Olson huffed, smiling at his alpha. “Someone could need me for something,” he said. “But otherwise I always love having you inside me.”

Rex rumbled with pleasure, reaching between Olson’s legs—not that Olson could see anything because his belly was so round.

“Mine,” Rex whispered. “I want to open you up and sit you down on my cock. Make you scream when I fuck inside you.”

Olson bit his lip, clutching at his alpha. “You make me so wet.”

Rex pushed his hand down the inside of Olson’s sweatpants, lightly fondling his cock. It grew hard against his fingers and sent jolts of bliss up Olson’s spine.

“I want to open you and put another baby inside you,” Rex growled in his ear. “Pump you full of come. Ruin your pretty hole so it’s all mine.”

“Fuck.” Olson shuddered and spread his legs.

It was all the invitation Rex needed to ease Olson’s pants down his legs, laying him on his side on the couch.

Rex covered Olson with his body and leaned in to suck hot kisses down Olson’s neck, his own zipper rasping.

Then the wet tip of his cock pushed between Olson’s cheeks and slid in easily, stretching Olson as it slid home.

“Mine,” Rex groaned. “Tight. Ready for come.”

“You’re always so big,” Olson panted.

Rex pushed in, slow but firm, until Olson gripped his arm tight and almost came.

“Fuck. Fuck, I can’t last long with you inside me,” Olson whimpered.

Rex growled. He thrust in shallowly, making sure to grind up against Olson’s prostate. Olson shuddered beneath him. “I want you to come around my cock,” Rex growled. “Want to fuck you ‘til you come and come and all you know is me.”

“Oh, gods. Yes.”

Rex pressed deeper. And deeper. Gently but so deep, until Olson writhed and wheezed and his body sucked down his alpha’s cock, his own length achingly hard.

“I’m going to give you my come,” Rex growled in his ear. Olson came with a muffled cry, clenching around his alpha.

Rex groaned. He bit lightly into Olson’s shoulder and began moving faster, short, shallow thrusts. Olson reached down to squeeze the rest of Rex that wasn’t inside him, and Rex snarled.

“Want to knot you,” Rex growled. “Breed you.”

“Please.”

Rex groaned, burying his face against Olson’s neck as he came. Olson felt every pulse; Rex’s knot swelled in his fist, hot and hungry, and Olson blushed all over, just imagining it inside him.

They panted together, Rex dropping kisses wherever he could reach. “Mine, mine, mine.”

“All yours.”

Rex laced their hands together, their rings brushing against each other like a promise. Olson’s heart skipped.

They’d gotten married in a small ceremony in Olson’s dads’ backyard. All of their parents had attended—Rex’s dad, Olson’s dads, and George’s parents. Olson’s papa had walked him down the makeshift aisle. Varrick had been tasked with holding Emmy back from immediately handing out all his butt blessings. Olson’s friends and employees had attended; the Danger Alphas had been there, too. Surprisingly, Niall had shown up, his hands tucked into his hoodie. Aaren had attended, and so had Olson’s best friend, Linus.

It had been a quiet affair, peaceful and happy. Olson hadn’t been sure if Rex would be comfortable with the number of guests, but after he’d told Rex that these were people who all wanted to see them happy, Rex had relaxed and enjoyed himself.

And now they were married.

Finally.

Rex slowly pulled out, the hot, slippery slide of his cock accompanied by a wet trickle.

Olson huffed. “I guess there wasn’t much point trying to keep the couch clean,” he said dryly. “I think I remember what each stain was from. Like that one was from me kneeling on the couch. This one you pinned me flat.”

Rex grinned and pushed the trickle of come back into Olson’s hole. “Mine.”

They kissed again, Rex tracing his scent all over Olson’s body.

Something popped. It was a barely-there feeling, like maybe Olson had imagined it. But the moment he tried to sit up, he felt wetness leak out of him, more than Rex’s usual.

It hit him then. “I think my water broke.”
