Epilogue
EPILOGUE
CASS
(Two weeks later.)
T hey say finding your mate is like finding the other half of your soul. It took me a moment to see past the desperate need that coursed through us both, but we have a feeling that had to do with the way we met. Saving my mate's life, and almost sacrificing mine in the process, created an unbreakable bond. Throw in that magical bond, then separate us for months, and the ricochet effect was so powerful that it was almost as if we were both in heat.
Now that the desperate lust haze is over, I can say that yes, it's true.
Blaze is the other half of my soul.
He immediately moved in with me since he had only signed a month-to-month lease on his apartment. Every day, we work together in the apothecary, then go home to our place.
Life is pretty close to perfect, with the exception of one thing.
"You finished?"
Blaze nods, folding the piece of paper and sticking it into an envelope. He places the letter on our office desk before walking over to me. I jump into his open arms with a wide grin, wrapping my legs around his waist. My tail moves of its own accord and possessively coils around his arm.
"I finished. I decided to write my first letter to my little brother. I want to check to see how Autumn's doing. Especially since Orson went missing."
"What did you say?" I ask, before waving my words away. "No, I'm sorry. That's none of my business."
Blaze's hazel eyes sparkle. "I have no secrets from you, my sexy demon. I'll tell you anything you want to know about me."
I grin, pressing my lips against his. "Thank you," I whisper, knowing it's true. We've shared so much with each other in such a short amount of time. Impressive, considering our last sex marathon.
"I told Autumn I miss him. That despite leaving the way I did, family is everything to me and I wanted the opportunity to talk to him in person. To ask for forgiveness." Blaze's smile grows wider. "I also wrote down a place and time we can meet."
I squeal, bouncing up and down in my mate's grasp. Peppering kisses on his lips, I look him straight in the eye. "You're doing so good, love. I'm so proud of you."
Blaze doesn't say anything in response, but I don't miss the way his cheeks heat, or the faint murmur of pride that thrums through our magical bond. He walks into our bedroom with me still clinging to him like a spider monkey.
"Pretty witch," I say with a giggle, knowing how much he loves the nickname. "What are we doing back in the bedroom?"
"I thought we could celebrate the fact that I actually wrote a letter to my little brother. Can you believe Autumn is the ‘stunning witch' Rook has been crushing on for months? Maybe we can help him out and play matchmaker! I want my brother to be as happy as me, after all."
I laugh. "Is that so? You're that happy?"
He nods eagerly. "Yes, sir."
My pulse skips a beat whenever he calls me that. "Alright. Let's play matchmaker then. But first, let me show you exactly how I'm going to reward you for being such a good boy." I have a wonderful feeling that my mate is going to keep me on my toes, and I can't wait to see where life leads us.
