Epilogue

London, May 1817, The Duke of Southbury's Wedding Ball

T he newly married, thirty-year-old Duke of Southbury escorted his bride onto the dance floor. The crowd parted for the couple as a waltz began to play.

Meredith hadn't had any champagne tonight, but Griffin had imbibed many glasses and she'd never seen him happier. He'd especially been thrilled earlier when she shared the news that she was most certainly with child. Thank heavens the wedding was over or his mother would be scandalized. Indeed, the ton would be.

Meredith smiled brightly at her husband as she picked out the familiar one-two-three pattern along the floor. "You know I must confess I do miss the duchess hunt."

Griffin returned her bright smile. "And what a hunt it was." He shook his head slightly.

"One that would have been over much more quickly had I admitted the person I was hunting was myself," Meredith said with a laugh .

Griffin gave her a devilish wink. "No need to despair, my love. This Season you can turn the full force of your matchmaking skills toward Gemma. She is still in need of a bridegroom, after all."

"That's true." Meredith glanced about. "Speaking of Gemma, where is she? I was hoping she'd dance with Lord Timberly tonight."

"I just saw her a few minutes ago. She asked me if I'd seen Grovemont, actually."

"Grovemont?" Meredith frowned. "Hmm. I wonder why."

"I've no idea. But?—"

"Southbury! Southbury, come quickly!" a shrill female voice called.

Griffin and Meredith stopped dancing as Lady Cranberry came hurtling toward them through the crowd, waving her embroidered handkerchief in the air like a flag.

"What is it, Lady Cranberry?" Griffin asked. He and Meredith stared intently at their guest, waiting for her to explain herself.

"You must hurry," Lady Cranberry shrieked. "Your sister was just discovered alone in the study with the Duke of Grovemont!"

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed Meredith and Griffin's story. The next book in the Love's a Game trilogy is The Duke Dare .
