Kieran Hayes and Dr. Talia Stirling were married that summer in the backyard of their Malibu home. The intimate ceremony was officiated by the groom’s father, Cian Hayes. Talia was escorted down a flower-strewn aisle by Sven Akerman and longtime friend, Dr. Leo Chastain.

No photographs of the event were released to the press, but for months afterward, rumors circulated about the wedding. Contrary to the tabloids, no orgy took place, nor did Talia lead Kieran down the aisle on a leash. Professional dominatrix Charlie Rhodes was later quoted saying the wedding and reception were, “dreadfully vanilla and exceedingly romantic.”

The ceremony was a traditional Irish handfasting. The braid of ribbons used to bind the couple’s hands and wrists is now a treasured heirloom of their four children.

For their vows, they knelt facing each other.
