Chapter 14
Remus
I was reading through the reports that Lawrence had left for me. He would add the refined DNA molecules next week to increase her regeneration abilities and enable her body to combat the effects of silver. It all depended on how her cells took to the new molecules.
Some of my DNA would be inserted into her, and some were cloned and edited versions. It was happening much quicker than anticipated. However, she wasn't faring very well with the liquid silver testing.
My phone buzzed, and it was Dr Lawrence.
Everything is going much faster than anticipated since there is no regulatory body to report back to. I left today’s report in the reception area desk. Next week, when she transforms into the wolf, we can work on decoding the DNA that links you to the cycle of the moon. I’m leaving early today. Dr Shelton will finish up in the lab.
The Doctor was worth his fee. To be so fucking close to perfection was exhilarating. I could live forever without my imperfections. He had to figure out the most problematic aspect, which was the link between werewolves and the moon. I got up to get the latest report but remembered that Shelton was alone with Zailah.
Being at the facility and running my businesses hadn't been easy. In the end, my time was spent in London. The commute to the facility was too long. It was time well spent because I didn’t anticipate any more work problems. I’d kept my eye on Shelton to ensure he didn't take things too far.
I sat back down and switched on the camera footage in the lab, but it was empty. I switched it to the one in her room and saw Shelton pushing Zailah onto the bed. When he tried to get on top of her, she fought him, but I could tell she was weak. He moved away and began to shock her through the collar.
I slammed my fist on the desk because this was my fault. I should have known he wouldn't have been able to resist her. It was time to end this. I jogged down the stairs and through the hallways until I reached her cell. He was oblivious to my presence because he was too busy getting his dick out. I glanced at Zailah, who was unconscious.
A sudden calm shrouded me, and I allowed myself to give in to my dark urges that craved violence. I walked towards them until I stood behind him and gripped a handful of his thinning hair at the back of his head. He tried to turn around, but I pulled him off the bed and put him face-down on the floor.
He was screaming at me to let him go. I gripped his skull and began to smash his face off the floor. I lost count of how many times I did it, but his screaming stopped, and the floor was covered in a pool of blood that had splattered beautifully. Once I dropped his head, I checked his pulse. The pulse was weak, but he was still alive.
I stood up and checked on Zailah. Her neck had burn marks from the collar, but her pulse was strong. I took the chain out of my shirt and unlocked her collar. Her complexion looked paler than usual, and I opened one eye up before checking the other. It didn't look good because they had a yellowish tinge to them.
I texted the Doctor and told him to get back here before I lifted Zailah and carried her through to the lab to get the IV out with the EDTA in it to flush her blood out from the silver in her system. Chelation therapy was used to remove metals and mercury from the body. I used it myself a couple of times a year as this shit built up within the body. With the state she was in, she needed at least two bags.
When Lawrence came in and saw what I was doing with Zailah, he looked puzzled. She was halfway through her first bag.
“Are you trying to fucking kill her? Her skin has a yellow tinge to it, and so do her eyes. Not to mention, Shelton assaulted her. Can you get another assistant? Preferably, a female.”
“I don't think I can find anyone else for what we are doing,”
he said as he glanced down at Zailah. “I should have picked up on this, but I was so eager to move on to the DNA editing. My apologies. She kept recovering so well from all the other tests.”
“Now I have to check if that fuck face is dead or not,”
I snapped at him. “Make sure her body is back to her usual strength before you introduce the new DNA,”
I snapped at him before I tugged Zailah’s T-shirt down.
I needed to buy her some underwear. No wonder he was all over her. I could smell her pussy. Or perhaps it was just my super senses. My mouth parted, and I sniffed again. She smelled different from before, sweeter and muskier. It made my mouth salivate. I licked my lips as if I could taste her in the air.
“Strap her in and make sure she has the second bag,”
I said before reluctantly leaving the lab.
I returned to the room to find Shelton in the process of regaining consciousness. When I crouched down and lifted his head, I saw his face was in a pitiful state, covered in blood and beginning to swell up.
“I can't have you working for me, nor can I let you leave knowing what you do. You're the type of weasel that won't stick to your contract,”
I stated coldly. “You tried to take what is mine.”
The sight of him lying on top of Zailah’s unconscious body made me grip his head with both hands.
“No, p-please—”
I twisted his head to hear the satisfying crack as his neck broke.
The Doctor would need to work on his own.
