16. Chapter 16
Daddy Jay
S adly, like all good things, my birthday weekend had to come to an end. We spent all of Sunday making sure everything was packed up and prepped before leaving the rental house. I toss a still-alive Ghost into the trunk of my car and leave. It's hard to leave Demi alone, but a car I've hired will arrive soon to pick her up and escort her back to the club. We all know Edward doesn't pay unless the merchandise comes back and my girl deserves payment for pulling off the best birthday gift in the history of all birthday gifts. Once she gets her payment, the driver will bring her home to me and we can keep Ghost for as long as we would like.
Demi planned everything perfectly. The house will catch on fire in the early hours of the morning. Everything will lead back to a gas explosion from the oven. The house will burn to the ground along with all the evidence, and the insurance will pay out, with the booking completely erased at a forensic level. There are absolutely no traces, no loose ends, and nothing left to do but drive my new toy home and wait for Demi to return to me.
I turn out of the drive and down the road with a giant grin on my face. The start to year forty couldn't have been more perfect. This year is going to be a good fucking year and I can't wait to see what Demi will get me next year. I'm not sure she'll be able to out-do herself ever, but I am certainly willing to allow her to try.
