Chapter 27

One Year Anniversary

Chandler

Not too manythings unnerved me, but what I had planned for Cheyanne today did. We were back in Sri Lanka after a trip to London. I wanted to retrace our steps for our one-year anniversary. Time had been nothing but good to us. Our love was stronger than I thought it could be. She was truly my lover, my soul mate, and my best friend.

Business was better than ever. Cheyanne and I still had a healthy relationship at work. She did one buy a quarter on her own, and my love was knocking them out of the park. Her work with Saveth was still going strong. The collection she'd curated for Saveth last season had gotten her gallery international recognition. Offers started to pour in immediately for Cheyanne's help, and she answered willingly when and where she could.

She was set to start school next month, and her classes would be online. I loved her love for learning and was prepared to pay for her to get a different degree in something at least twice a decade.

My investments in art and jewels were still going strong. I'd dabbled in real estate over the past few months, and so far, it had been worth the risk. Our family bonds were strong, and our friends were happy and healthy. There was only one thing I could ask for, and I hoped to get the answer to that today.

"I can't believe you actually brought me back here," Cheyanne said as we reached our destination. It was the same waterfall we'd come to last year.

"I am a man of my word, and I told you I'd bring you back to the place you said yes to me."

"That's true." She agreed, wrapping her arms around me.

Things this time around had been perfect. We got the superior villa, all of our excursions were booked, and our family and friends were here for the occasion. My eyes lifted, and at the sight of Port walking over to us with my parents, Selena, Amy, and Dru behind him, I smiled.

"You love me?" I asked.

"Of course."

"You trust me?"

"More than anyone."

"You want to be with me forever?"

"And even after that."

"Now that's what I like to hear," Port said, and at the sound of his voice, Cheyanne almost jumped out of her skin. She gasped and turned to face him before running into his arms.

"Papa! What are you guys doing here?"

I kneeled and pulled the sixteen carat Asscher cut diamond ring out of my pocket.

"There was no way I'd miss this moment, Belle."

"What moment?"

Port nodded in my direction. Cheyanne turned, and when she noticed me kneeling, she shuffled back on her feet and covered her mouth. Before I could utter a word, her tears were falling. I allowed Port to console her for a while before I gently removed her from his embrace and told him, "I got her now."

He gave me a confident smile. "I know you do."

As I took her left hand into mine, I returned to one knee. "I knew the moment you walked into my office that you were mine. That we would get to this moment. Whether it took two years or twenty, I was willing to wait for you, because I knew our love and life together would be worth it." Pausing, I slid the ring onto her finger. "I love you so much, baby, and nothing would make me happier than being able to call you my wife. So… Cheyanne Taylor, will y—"

"Yes!" she yelled, hugging me tightly. I stood so I could hold her correctly as she repeated her answer. "Yes, Chandler."

"Yes what?" I asked, needing to hear her say it.

"I will marry you."

As our loved ones and even strangers cheered us on, I didn't care about anything or anyone but the woman in my arms, who had agreed to be my wife.

"Mm," I moaned before covering her lips with mine. "You just made me the most blessed man on this earth."
