Chapter 8

LUCA

"Cupcake, I can't imagine where you got the idea that you were leaving me," I say teasingly, as I press Sophia harder against the wall. Trapped like an animal ready for flight, I can sense her heart beating almost out of her chest, but she soon relents, unable to resist me, and arches back into my hardness.

"Misty is going to wonder where I am, and I need to help her clean up the venue. She's my best friend and I already feel guilty for leaving her to do all the work," she admits breathlessly. She looks sad as she stares at me like she's memorizing my face. It almost feels like she's telling me goodbye.

Grabbing her chin and bringing her face up until our eyes lock, I make it clear to Sophia that she's not leaving me for more than a couple of hours. Trying to reassure her, I decide to lay all of my feelings on the table. "I told you that you were mine, and I meant every word. Since I first saw you, I knew you were the one I wanted to protect, love, and build a future with. My commitment to you runs deep, and I will always be there for you, ready to shield you from any harm that may come your way. Our connection is not just passionate, but also enduring, and I cherish every moment we spend together. Together, we will create a beautiful family filled with love, laughter, and the strength to overcome any obstacles that may come our way. Know that my vow to you is unshakable, and nothing in this world will ever change that."

Once I finish speaking, she's trembling and fidgeting with her hands. I don't understand where the nerves have come from, but I hope my words will calm her and reassure her we aren't done. Not by a long shot.
