CHAPTER 1

Klaus

ARRIVAL IN AMERICA

North American Lycan Camp

I was summoned into my father's quarters in the middle of the night. Apparently, an old ally he long thought was dead lives and needs our assistance. My twin and I take as seat at my father's desk waiting for him to speak. "Gather four of our finest fighters quickly, the lost Princess and its our ancestral promise to protect her bloodline." My father says sternly his inflection suggests great concern.

"What do you mean the lost Princess? The Marelup heir died with her mother the night of the attack." I say questioning my father's intel. It's common knowledge around here that none of that blood line lives to this day.

"My boy what I'm about to tell you two remains in this room do you understand me?" My brother and I nod at our father and lean forward. He's definitely piqued our interest. "The Princess ripped her way free of her mother's womb at the time of the attack. Apparently, the stressful situation caused the baby to shift and rip its self-free. Nicodeamus sent me a video that he was sent of his daughter. I am not at liberty to show it to you. But be warned the stories of a great white lycan beast are true. The Princess is a hybrid of lycan and dragon. I'm sending you two and another four to America to help protect her. Apparently, there's traitors in their pack and Nicodeamus is concerned for his daughter's safety." My father crossed his arms over his barrel chest looking between my brother and I. We both nod at our father and get up to leave.

"We will bring you honor father and serve the Princess well." I extend my hand to my father sealing my promise to him. My brother and I make haste leaving my fathers home. I send my brother to gather the most loyal solders we have and load everyone up into the van.

It didn't take long to make it to the local airport, apparently a man named Jayce had secured six first class tickets for myself and my pack. We went though the normal airport bullshit and boarded our flight. My father had texted me the contact numbers for Dominik and Jayce, apparently, they are two of the princess's mates in charge of our transport.

I watch out the window as the plane flies over Mother Russia, the entire country is covered in ice and snow. Rumors of dragons living within the boarders has been around for generations. I watch the miles fly by and soon we are crossing the Pacific Ocean. It's not natural for a wolf to fly and to be honest I'm really not comfortable with it.

This flight feels like it's taking F O R E V E R… At some point I must have dozed off cause my brother decided to punch my shoulder to wake me up. I jolt awake and look around searching for the problem. My brother is sitting there laughing his ass off at me and I punch him back. Fucking stupid brother, I swear if mom didn't make me promise that I wouldn't beat his ass he would be crying right now. We disembark the airport looking like a strong man competition is in town. Right at the gate is a man with dark hair and hazel eyes holding a sign with my name on it. From the description I was given I recognize him as Dominik. I roll up my right sleeve and show him the crest of my father's pack. He then rolls up his sleeve to show his pack mark as well. Dominik then turns his head to the side and pulls his collar to the side to show me Aurora's bite mark. Identity's confirmed we depart for the pack lands in which we will be staying.

We pull through the gates to the pack lands and I look around. The American Lycans are puny and appear to be half starved. Poor scrawny things, they are a shadow of the beasts they should be. Dominik parks the vehicle and we start walking towards what appears to be the main pack house. My twin is close on my heel as we approach the mountain of a man I come to know as Dimitri. Stories I was told as a pup had him as the Queens personal guard. How does he still live and look this young? Dimitri gives us the rest of the report of what's going on around here. It's much worse than my father had originally anticipated. Dimitri brings me forward and introduces me to Nicodeamus, the fabled Dragon King. This ancient warrior holds his remaining arm out to me and shows me his brand. I in turn hold my arm our showing him the brand of my father's pack. Once our identities are confirmed we embrace briefly then turn to leave the building we were in front of.

Nicodeamus stops us in front of the small cabin's door, the sweetest scent I've ever smelled fills the air around the building. Suddenly the door flies open, and a heavenly angel stands before me. I feel as though the world had stopped. This was it the moment I had been waiting for my entire life. She's it. I watch her ruby red lips pop open and her mouth falls open. My angel blinks her eyes several times before opening the door wide to let us in. Her father and I enter the cabin and I watch the Princess closely. Her eyes are pure silver orbs, reflective and secretive.

A few moments later she speaks to me in my native tongue, her German is perfect as if she had been speaking it her whole life. Aurora motions to the couch and I'm quick to oblige, her scent is intoxicating. I know it's because she's mine, but for some reason she's not reacting the way I am. Aurora walks into the kitchen and returns with three beers. I watch Aurora first set the bottles down then shift her hand into this armored taloned gauntlet. Shocked isn't the word I'd use to describe how I feel watching her coat the bottle in frost before handing it to me. I watch her move to a recliner and sit down, she looked to her shifted arm and returned it to human then showed me the Marelup brand.

I moved quickly and dropped to my knees before her, cautiously I rest my forehead on her knees in subjugation. I look up to Aurora my wolf came to the forefront, I had to test her make sure she is whom she's supposed to be. I lower my eyes quickly and apologize profusely for my attempt. Aurora shocks me by running her fingers though my hair, I look up at her in awe. This powerful female caresses my head as if I'm precious to her. We stay in this moment for to me what feels like forever. Something suddenly changes and she pulls her hand back as if she was burned. I'm told to retrieve my men, so I do so promptly. I return to find the Princess standing in the kitchen in nothing but a robe.

I explain to my men that she's the true heir and then I hear it start, her shift is being painfully slow for our benefit. Her beast is huge, mammoth, a impossible thing to behold. Her lycan dwarfs all of ours, its head is wider and her muzzle longer. Her body is the perfect mix of dragon and lycan, those battle ready gauntlets look even more impressive together with her long black talons on display. We swear our loyalty to the Princess on the spot. There's a bigger mystery besides who is the traitor, like why does my mate not see me as hers?
