Epilogue

The twinkling lights from our Christmas tree cast a warm glow across the living room as Blake, Audrey, and I sprawled on the carpet in front of the fire.

Audgey Podgey loved her tummy time and often pushed up on her hands and knees as if trying to crawl. Her chubby cheeks flushed with excitement as she batted at a shiny ornament dangling just out of reach.

Staring at her never got old. "I still can't believe she's ours." I leaned against Blake's solid chest.

"She is pretty awesome." Blake nuzzled my neck. "Just like her daddy."

I hummed happily, smiling as she lost her balance and rolled to the side so she was staring at the floor beneath the tree. "And stubborn like her Papa."

We both chuckled but stopped abruptly as a tiny gray mouse scurried down the trunk of our Christmas tree and darted across the room. All eyes were glued to it as four tiny little paws pattered across the hardwood floor.

Audrey's eyes widened, tracking the mouse's movement.

Before Blake or I could react, our baby girl's form shimmered and shifted, and suddenly, a fuzzy bear cub sat where our human daughter had been moments before.

"Oh my god!" I gasped, my jaw dropping in shock.

The bear cub—our daughter—let out an adorable growl and crawled after the mouse on wobbly legs.

Blake and I exchanged stunned glances before bursting into laughter. Pride and joy swelled in my chest as we watched our little girl explore her newfound abilities.

"Looks like we're in for quite an adventure with this little cub." Blake got up and grabbed her before she actually caught her prey.

I nodded, grinning from ear to ear. "I can't wait to see what other surprises she has in store for us."

Blake pulled me close and pressed a tender kiss to my mouth. Surrounded by twinkling lights and the sound of our daughter's soft growls, I felt so much gratitude that my alpha found me on that cold winter special night so long ago…
