Epilogue - Flynn
Four months later
“Thanks for joining us today, Flynn,” Cyrus appreciates with a curt nod from across the room. “I know this is bad timing, but we needed you.”
The other Alphas that form what is now known as the “Alpha Council of Oklahoma” all nod their concurrence around the boardroom table.
All, except one.
Dorian’s absence is sorely felt—especially since I’ve been able to discern that he wasn’t responsible for Finch’s death. I needed to hear it from the horse’s mouth, or in his case, his inner wolf’s mind link.
Since obtaining the special gift of tapping into the mind link of werewolves outside my own pack, I was able to cross-examine him, his inner wolf voice serving as a gauge on a lie detector test of sorts.
My discovery that he wasn’t the one working alongside the rogue wolves allowed us all to trust him, turning the alliance into a council of decision-making. After the attack on Blood Moon months ago, I found an empty vial at the scene of the attack. Using the traces of rogue wolf scent on the vial, we were able to trace their location to an old, dilapidated warehouse in Fayetteville that's since been abandoned.
They know we're on to them. That’s why they’d been quiet for months.
Until last night, when we received news from the Nightclaw Pack that their Alpha had been missing for almost a week.
I take a seat behind the table, steepling my fingers out in front of me as remorse grips my chest. Now that Dorian is missing, I can’t help but regret how apprehensive I’d been. Perhaps, if I wasn’t so wary at first, I would have made a close friend out of the werewolf who was once my brother’s friend.
“I had to come,” I conceded with a sigh. “If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that Dorian is on our side.” I glance at Damian, his brother, noticing the way he stares at the desk.
The animosity between the brothers still exists despite clearing Dorian’s name, but somehow, there’s sadness evident in Damian’s eyes, and I understand what he might be going through.
I’ve been in his shoes before.
Discussions move forward as we hatch a plan to find Dorian. Of course, with my tracking skills and the ability to eavesdrop on all of their internal conversations with their respective inner wolves, I have an advantage that we can employ to find him.
Each Alpha has a certain skill or advantage at their disposal that will help in finding Dorian. Once the meeting is over, I’m able to rush back home. Goddess knows I only attended the meeting in the first place upon Lila’s insistence.

Taking the stairs two at a time, my heart pounds with excitement building in my chest. The lilting sound of Lila’s singing voice wafts down the hallway, spreading a smile on my face.
As soon as I step into the bedroom, she turns to me, her arms cradled around the bundle wrapped in a thick fleece swaddle.
“Shh,” Lila whispers. “He just fell asleep.”
I nod, cautiously stepping onto the rug without my shoes and padding across the room toward my mate and our newborn. A blissful wave of calm washes over me when the pup sighs a hum of contentment, a little burp escaping his puckered lips.
Lila does her best to stifle her giggle as she gently lays our baby in his crib. I follow her, wrapping my arms over her chest from behind and propping my chin on her shoulder. Watching baby Finch sleep peacefully has been our favorite pastime all week.
I don’t think it’ll ever get old, watching our newborn navigate the heavens of blissful dreams without any limitations.
Still, Lila has been adamant to get out of the house for some fresh air. I can’t blame her, since the last time she hunted was two months ago, before our growing pup became too big for her to shift.
Lila turns to me and nods toward the door, and we both head out. Gently closing the door behind her, a mischievous smirk curls her lips.
“Who’s watching him while we’re out?” I ask, still whispering in the hallway so that Finch doesn’t wake up.
“Val’s already on her way here,” Lila replies, skipping down the hall. “Grandpa Tomas offered to babysit, but I didn’t wanna bother him.”
I wince as we head down the stairs. “That would have been a terrible idea,” I chuckle. “He was no good with my brother and me. He’d be much worse now.”
Lila giggles, shaking her head. “You’d be surprised. I, for one, was shocked when your father fed baby Finch yesterday.”
“Yeah…the Lycoan men have many tricks up their sleeves,” I muse as we head out.
“Hm…” she hums contemplatively. “I don’t think any of you have this one particular trick.”
“The one you promised to show me today?”
She nods eagerly, a bright smile on her face. All I can do is bask in the glory of being in her presence as we make our way through the town square. Even though I’m the Alpha, I notice that we’re turning heads because of Lila.
If there’s any trick up her sleeve, it’s that motherhood becomes her in a way that sets her above the rest. Destined to be the Luna, she embodies the feminine essence of the moon itself.
Incredible…
As we pass by the library, Lila suddenly stops and lifts my arm, twirling before the window.
“What are you doing?” I ask with a frown, though amused when she spins a full three-sixty and giggles with a lightheartedness that exudes her femininity.
“I just realized I’ve lost a lot of weight,” she says, stopping her spinning and tilting her head at her reflection.
“It’s probably your heightened metabolism now that you have a wolf,” I offer with a nonchalant shrug.
“At least I'm not a baby elephant anymore,” she murmurs, to my horror.
“Hey!” I protest, stepping in front of her to block out her reflection and block out any ridiculous thoughts. “Baby elephants are cute!”
Lila narrows her eyes at me and huffs. “Are you saying you were calling me 'cute' back then?”
“I’m reminding you that it was the baby elephant who I fell in love with. Okay?”
When she blushes, I can breathe easily, knowing that she’s only pulling my leg. “Good answer. You’re lucky I know that you’re not lying.”
“What does that mean?” I ask with a confused chuckle as I follow her toward the valley.
“I wanna show you something,” Lila says as she reaches out her hand and tugs at mine. I allow her to lead me across the meadow until we have to climb rocks to get to the other side of the ravine.
“Right…here…” she purposefully stomps a foot on a patch of moist grass.
“What is here?” I ask, looking all around us.
Lila giggles in response. “Look at me.”
When I do look up, Lila beams at me.
“I don’t understand what’s going on…”
“I want you to remember this exact spot. I’ve seen into the future, and I will have our second child five years from now.”
“Wh-what?” I do a double-take, shocked by what Lila reveals when she goes on to explain how she had a vision of our future—a picnic in this exact spot, with Finch as a five-year-old, and her belly ripe with our second child.
It’s a gift she realized she had when the visions happened a second time. She knew exactly when she’d give birth, and how long her labor would last.
“It happened a third time. Last night,” she continues. “I was tidying up the bathroom when I found an empty vial.”
“The one I found the night of the attack,” I add. “Is there something you know?”
“I already know where Dorian is,” she reveals with a sneaky grin. “I don’t have the coordinates, but I can give you a clear description of what the place looks like.”
I place my hands on her shoulders, shaking my head slowly in disbelief.
“You, my love, are a genius!” I exclaim, pulling her into my arms.
She giggles in my embrace but melts into it nonetheless. “I am only utilizing the gift I have, thanks to you.”
I pull back only to cup her cheeks and disagree with a firm shake of my head. “It has nothing to do with me, Lila. You are incredible. It’s all you. It’s always been you.”
Her eyes turn softer as she stares up at me and blushes. “Just as it’s always been you, Flynn.”
I lean in, closing the distance between our lips and permitting them to meet for another explosive round of proclamation of our love. In that one statement, Lila simply professed her love for me.
A love that knows no bounds, standing the test of time and the test of Lila’s ultimate display of forgiveness for the man I used to be.
That’s why I’ve dedicated the rest of my existence to making it up to her. Because with every passing day, Lila only gives my existence new meaning, showing me how powerful we are together. Invincible, to say the least.
My only duty is to protect her. That’s how we protect the Blood Moon Pack, together. That’s how we’ll help our allies.
