Chapter Two Sam
C learing my throat, I forced my voice to remain steady. “Do you want just the one room or two?”
“Just one is fine,” Erick replied, still staring at me.
“Did you make a reservation or are you two…” I paused, trying to think of how to say it. “Rogues?”
“We got kicked out of our pack, if that’s what you mean,” Calum replied. “About two weeks ago. It took us a while to get all the way here from Boston.”
Ah. So that’s where his gruff demeanor and slight accent came from.
“I’m sure you’re tired,” I nodded. Taking another deep breath, I forced myself to put on my best hotel owner voice like I did with the other wolves that came through. “It’s gonna be a quiet day around here with the holiday and all, but that’ll give you a chance to settle in. We’ve got tons of leftovers from the party last night when you get hungry.”
“Thanks,” Calum grunted, still unable to tear his eyes away from me.
I glanced down at the suitcases. “Do you two need anything? Toiletries? Clothes? Personal items? Most wolves show up with nothing, so I always have things on hand to get them through.”
“We knew we were being kicked out,” Erick replied, a note of despair in his voice. “So we had time to pack.”
“Well, if there’s anything you need, I’m happy to help.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll be sure to let you know,” Calum added, his gaze looking me up and down.
And for some reason, seeing him check me out so obviously made my stomach flutter. Was I really so hard up that a simple look could get me all hot and bothered? It seemed kinda pathetic.
“Y-You’re free to stay at the hotel as long as you need,” I continued, forcing myself to focus on the computer next to me as I checked out a room for them. “I provide a meal a day and there’s lots of other wolves in town who are happy to provide more if you need it. I do ask that you take on some tasks around the hotel once you’re settled. Or we can try to find you a job in town if you like.”
“I’m an IT guy,” Erick said. “And Calum’s good at anything that requires heavy lifting. Not sure if that’s useful, but it’s all we’ve got.”
“You make me sound like such a meathead,” Calum growled.
“That’s because you are, dear.” Erick smiled at me. “If you want someone with a bit more class, I’m your guy.”
I couldn’t help but smile. It was adorable the way they picked at one another. I could tell there was a lot of love between them. And that’s why, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out why they were both staring at me so much.
“I’m sure we can put your talents to use. I always need help here at the hotel and there’s quite a few wolves in town happy to hire. We’ll get you back on your feet in no time.”
Turning around on my stool, I stood up to get their keys from the board behind me. At the same time, I shifted my raging hard on as discreetly as I could, pulling my hoodie down as far as it would go to hide most of the evidence. But when I turned back around with their keys, I realized both of them had zeroed in on my ass and quickly looked away the moment I caught them.
“I’ll… uh… show you to your room, I guess,” I said, voice trembling. “Follow me.”
Keeping my hands stuffed firmly in my hoodie pocket to cover my junk, I led the pair over to the elevator. Once inside, I hit the button for the second floor, the same one that I lived on, and waited anxiously. Their alluring scents quickly filled the elevator as they stepped in behind me. Usually, I would be a chatterbox with new guests, but with them around, I just couldn’t seem to focus. My thoughts were racing and most of them were wildly inappropriate. I couldn’t figure out why I was having such a strong reaction to these two. Clearly they liked the look of me and if I was being honest, this was the first time in at least a couple of years that anyone had given me the time of day.
In fact, I was probably making most of it up. Sitting behind a desk all day titillating myself with smutty romance novels was finally catching up with me. What I probably needed was a long hot bath and a date with my dildo that was collecting dust under my bed. Clearly I’d been neglecting my needs if I was this hard up because another man looked at me. It felt kind of sad, to be honest.
The elevator dinged at the second floor, and I led Erick and Calum to their new home for the time being. I’d decided to give them one of the bigger rooms, considering they came as a matched set. I didn’t want them to feel like they were cramped into a tiny space, not after they’d been kicked out of their pack. It was hard enough not having a home anymore. I didn’t want to make it worse. Having been through a similar situation myself, I knew how difficult the adjustment could be.
“Well, here it is,” I said, stepping inside and placing their keys on the small dining table. “The bed is a little bigger in this one, and there’s a kitchenette for anything you want to cook. I just ask that you don’t make anything too stinky.”
“Aw darn,” Calum grunted, dropping his suitcase. “And here I was thinking that I’d make my famous burnt popcorn and fish casserole.”
I lifted an eyebrow in his direction before I caught that mischievous grin. Cute and funny. I liked that.
“I promise I won’t let him cook,” Erick added. “He’s shit at it anyway.”
“And you’re such a chef,” Calum scoffed. “Mr. TV dinner over here.”
These two were gonna be a handful. I could already tell.
“Well, I’ll let you two figure that out,” I said, heading back toward the door. “Besides what I already told you about, I only have three rules for the hotel. No drugs, no fights, and no prostitution.”
“No hookers?” Calum sighed. “Damn.”
“I mean, I’d rather you didn’t. But mostly I’m trying to stop my guests from turning tricks to make a quick buck. Nothing wrong with good old-fashioned sex work, but it could get me shut down and I don’t want that to happen.”
“So, what if we have sex with people for free?”
Erick shot Calum a surprised look, but he didn’t stop him.
“Uh…” I could feel the heat rising at my collar again, my cock twitching hard against my jeans. “As long as they’re okay with it, I suppose it’s fine?”
Both of them looked at one another, then back at me. Suddenly I felt like I was a big juicy steak dangled in front of starving hyenas. The sensation was both terrifying and it really turned me on at the same time. Their scents intensified, and I caught the sudden increase in pheromones filling the room. The two of them combined made me dizzy and my head was still throbbing from my hangover. All of that, plus my lack of sleep, was making me feel like I was going to pass out.
“Well,” I said, heading for the door. “I should leave you two to get settled in. If you need anything, I’ll be down in the lobby. Once you’re feeling good about stuff, we’ll talk about jobs and chores or whatever. No rush.”
They both thanked me as I walked out the door without looking back and closed it behind me. I leaned against the wall, taking a moment to catch my breath. My head was spinning, and my senses were completely overwhelmed by the combination of Alpha and pheromones. Reaching down, I lifted my hoodie to find a wet spot on my jeans the size of a quarter. Those two had me so fucking hard that I was leaking pre-cum through my damn jeans.
“What… the fuck…” I breathed, shaking my head.
I was too dizzy to try to think things through. Instead, I just chalked it all up to the hangover, my smut books, and the fact that I was desperately lonely. I made a quick pit stop at my room to change my pants and grab myself some pain meds. By the time I finally got back down to the lobby, my coffee was just as stone cold as my pastry. I let out a long sigh, taking them both back into the kitchen to warm them up.
While I waited, I plopped down on one of the stools and laid my head on the stainless-steel counter.
Tonight, I was going to have a date with myself. It was a holiday after all, and I deserved a little bit of self-care. Time to dust off the dildo and tend to my own needs for once.
Maybe it was time I hired some help for this place. Clearly, I was neglecting myself.
