Chapter 43

CHAPTER 43

4 Days Later

ADIRA

T he house I saw online is everything I want and more. Even the guys were impressed with it. Today, I get to make one more walk through and sign my closing paperwork, on my back porch overlooking my new backyard. It turns out, when you’re paying with cash, things move quicker than when you’re waiting for underwriting from a bank to approve you for a mortgage.

I’m sitting in the car with the guys as Morris drives when I realize it’s the beginning of the month and I’ve forgotten one very important detail.

Oh fuck.

It’s as if a bucket of ice water has just been dumped over my head, freezing the happiness buzzing in my veins.

“Adira?” Damon asks, his voice worried. “Baby what’s wrong?”

He unsnaps my seatbelt and pulls me into the middle seat onto his lap to get my attention.

“Hey,” Kane barks, snapping his fingers in front of my face to make me flinch. “Answer him. Give us your words, little rabbit.”

“I forgot something,” I whisper. “It’s really important.”

“What?” Jed asks, twisting in his seat. “Baby, you’re whiter than a sheet.”

“My pill,” I rasp, my voice cracking in strain. “The one I get from Shaw to keep my heat away. I missed taking it last week. What if it’s too late? I can’t have it right now. I can’t?—”

“Breathe, baby,” Damon murmurs, kissing her forehead. “You’ve had a lot on your plate. You don’t feel warm, your room doesn’t seem to be suffering from a need to nest. We’ll deal with it.”

“Do you have Shaw’s number?” Jed asks, immediately in fix it mode. “Let’s see what he says about taking it now.”

“I do,” I say with a sniffle, pulling out my phone to hand it to him. Jed takes it from me and connects the call immediately, setting the speakerphone mode on.

My heart continues to pound against my ribs as I wait for Shaw to pick up.

“ Adira !” his voice booms in greeting. “ Are you okay? I just realized I have your hormone suppressant on my desk.”

“I can’t believe I forgot,” I wail, officially giving up to hysteria. “I’m alright so far, but with everything going on, I can’t go into heat!”

“ I know, Adira. If you’re not in heat, we can still try the pill, yeah? Where are you? I forgot too,” Shaw says.

It’s not his responsibility to remember, but it’s sweet for him to say as much.

“I’m going to buy a house,” I tell him, struggling to get my shit together. “It’s closing day.”

“ Then you should focus on celebrating ,” he says firmly. “ Text me the address, Adira. I’ll meet you there. We can’t do anything to change this, but we can cross our fingers that we can still catch it or delay it, okay?”

“Okay,” I rasp, nodding rapidly as Damon hugs me. There’s so much riding on the next few days, I don’t have time for my heat. I’m just not fucking ready. “Thank you. See you soon.”

Shaw hangs up, and Jed sighs as he sends him the address from his phone.

“We’re just going to have to ride it out and see what happens,” Jed tells me, handing the phone back. “He’s right, though. Today is a really big day, baby. Take it one step at a time.”

Leaning against Damon, I nod as I focus on my breathing. If I can gather the scraps of my techniques together, maybe it’ll help. It feels as if every time I panic though, it all falls apart.

Thankfully, I’m able to blow my nose, square my shoulders, and get my emotions settled by the time we get to the house. Shaw is waiting in the driveway as we get out of the car, making me wonder how he got here so quickly. Jed brings a bottle of water with him, so I won’t forget to take it, and I see that the realtor isn’t here yet.

“Let’s go inside,” he says. “While the driveway is hidden by the trees, I’m feeling the need to take this away from any possible prying eyes.”

Shaw follows us up the stairs, looking around as Jed enters the code he was given by the realtor for the lock box. Once we’re inside the house, Jed appears a little more relaxed and nods for Shaw to continue.

“While you take this, I want to tell you something,” Shaw says, opening the bottle and shaking the pill into my hand.

Pushing it between my lips, I unscrew the top from the bottle of water and take a sip. Jed and I have come a long way since the days where I would have side eyed him for offering me an already opened bottle.

The last three weeks of late night talks with the guys, falling asleep while watching movies, and getting to know them has made my feelings for them all deepen. Morris and Jed have both stopped holding back, pushed for time with each of them, allowing my heart to give up on remaining closed.

Morris whispered he loved me against my skin when he didn’t think I was awake as he laid me in bed, and I reached for him before he left and begged him to stay. Hard decisions do not make bad people, just ones who thought they had no other choice.

I’m learning a lot about the Dresmond brothers and Morris. I expect I’ll spend the rest of my life on this journey, and I want every moment. That’s why it’s so important that the next few days go well.

“What’s up?” I ask after the pill is taken care of and swallowed.

“Cian called a few of the packs about what we’re all calling D-Day,” he says, making me sigh. Jed was hounded by some of the senior members of the mafia families, and highly encouraged to divulge details of the plan. He refused, saying he didn’t want anything to fuck it up. They don’t even know the exact day, only that it’s coming.

“And?” I ask, knowing Cian of all people isn’t happy that I’m being used as bait. That’s all I was willing to tell him, because it’ll piss him off. I’m not trying to be a bitch, but merely keep the peace. I don’t see any reality where he can help.

“We all understand your need for secrecy, which is why he only reached out to a few people,” Shaw begins. “Pack Mohan, Dray, and Hayes want to provide support toward whatever plan you have. You made an impact on Pack Dray at the Amateur Fight Night, and met Tommy and Gabriel. Any number of things could happen, Adira.”

Jed gazes at him with his dark eyes and takes a deep breath.

“Trusting people isn’t exactly my strong point,” he says. “You’re also not going to like what Rock has planned. I can’t deviate from that plan.”

“I get it,” Shaw says. “I’m sure if Rock has had a hand in this plan that it’s going to be really fucked up.”

“They’re going to kidnap me,” I blurt out, wincing. May as well go all in then. “Rock thinks I’m living with the Kelly brothers, so he wants his sons to kidnap me right out of the house.”

“Ballsy,” Shaw grunts.

“He doesn’t enjoy being told no, and Pack Kelly refused to sell her back to him,” Jed explains. “Once we have her, Rock is going to give us coordinates to where he wants her dropped off.”

“And then what?” Shaw asks. “That’s it?”

“We’ll be contacted if there’s anything left to be sold, but Rock was insistent that he’d take care of that part,” Morris says, disgusted.

Shaw stares at us for a moment before he shakes his head in anger. “You’re fucking kidding me, right? Anything left? What the fuck are they planning to do?”

“Pack Rock is rarely in the same place at the same time,” Jed says softly, revealing secrets. “So yes, they plan to fuck, hurt, torture, and abuse Adira for their own sick form of fun. We aren’t going to let it get that far, but?—”

“I have to go into the house,” I whisper. “They have to think I have no one, so they let their guards down.”

“I hate this,” Shaw growls. We don’t know each other very well, but the time we’ve spent together, he’s been kind to me. “The roads aren’t something that Rock can control. We can follow, head to wherever he’s sending you to, lurk in the shadows until we can help. Being a martyr isn’t something I can get behind.”

“I just want enough time to see if they’ll give me some answers,” I rasp. His words are overwhelming, because I know he cares. After being alone for so long, I’m not used to that.

“Like what?” Shaw asks, eyes narrowing.

“Why did he really kill my father, or why does my aunt seem to be in bed with Rock,” I say. “There are a lot of pieces I can almost put together, but it’s all circumspect.”

“Adira, you can torture those things out of him, honey,” Shaw says. “We can also at least kill anyone who may be on the grounds, get in the building to help Pack Dresmond appear to be doing what they’re supposed to do. I understand they can’t be in two places at once, but your safety needs to be ensured.”

“I would be really grateful for that option,” Jed growls. “The different cogs in this operation are murky at best, because I won’t be able to have all the details until it’s happening. He still hasn’t sent me the coordinates for the cabin. That much he has told me.”

“So that means he knows but he’s not sharing yet,” Shaw mutters. “What if we found a way for you to share that information without it being traced?”

“Morris has my phone set up to send encoded texts now, but I always worry it could still be intercepted,” Jed explains.

“I know someone who can fix that,” Shaw grunts. “I’ll get you a new phone with that tech on it. So, is that it? Can we help?”

“Yes,” Damon says, surprising me enough to turn as he wraps his arms around my waist. “Thank you. We’ve all been losing our minds silently about leaving Adira on a goddamn porch where anything could happen to her.”

A knock on the door pulls our attention there as the realtor walks in and Shaw nods.

“I’ll get the word out then. Congratulations, Adira on your house. It’s gorgeous,” Shaw says. “Based on what I know about your pack, any security issues I can see will be handled quickly.”

“They will,” Kane says with a smirk.

“Thanks, Shaw,” I tell him with a nod. “For everything.”

“Aye, I got you,” he murmurs, turning a smile on the realtor. Shaw actually recommended Marks Realty to us, and Bailey has worked with Aisling before as well.

“Hello, Bailey. I see you’re taking good care of my friend here.”

“Yes, I’m so sorry I’m running behind schedule,” Bailey says, appearing a little frazzled. “I’m really excited that they’re closing today, and I have all the paperwork you’ll need to sign, Adira, once we do the walk through.”

As soon as I sign the paperwork, I’ll wire the money and I’ll be done! It feels like a dream that this is actually happening. This is mine.

A place for me and my pack. The words make me blink back tears of happiness. I’m a little raw after my scare and overwhelmed by how big today is and what it means.

We’re taking a huge stride into our future. I don’t want to go back to our darker days.

Shaw takes his leave, and for the next hour, I let myself get lost in the walk through of my house.

The large, open kitchen and island makes me dream of breakfast with kids and homework being done, and the basketball court makes me drool as I imagine all the man candy I’ll be watching, while my men play.

There’s so much potential in this house, but I am most excited about the attic and my nest. It’s large enough for us all, while private enough that I can hide when I need to.

“I can see a reading nook for you on the other side of your nest,” Morris murmurs in my ear as we gaze inside of the attic.

That’s the other thing. It’s large enough that I can divide the attic in half. There’s more than enough space for a reading nook on the other side of it, and even an audio recording studio built into a corner. The possibilities are absolutely endless.

“I would love that,” I say with a smile. “Is it silly to be this happy over a house when I may not even get to enjoy it?”

Dying is something that’s been taking up my thoughts lately. I push them away before Damon can notice, but it’s a concern. Rock could just decide to slit my throat and be done with it, walk away as I bleed out…

“Adira,” Morris barks. “Whatever is in your head isn’t going to happen. All I can feel is this heavy, dark cloud. You’re getting too good at hiding your thoughts, baby. Make plans to stay with us.”

Us. That’s part of what this house is about. Making a home together, accepting that I need them in my life. They quiet some of the rage that’s been awakened in me now that I know how terrible the world can be.

“Okay,” I breathe, wrapping my arms around his waist.

“Fuck it,” he mutters, grabbing handfuls of my ass to lift me up. My legs naturally cross at the base of his back, a koala hug as I gaze down at him.

Pressing me against the wall of the attic, he kisses me hard, grunting as I moan against his lips. His cock rocks over my pussy, stealing my breath as we breathe each other’s air.

The warmer weather means I can wear dresses with suspender tights, a blessing in disguise, since they’ve taken to ripping the crotch out of my tights for easy access. Kane bought these on a whim, deciding they were a better option.

Morris just looks amused, but never partakes typically. He’ll kiss me, tease me with his words during group activities, but this is new.

“What are you going to do with that very large present you have pressing against me?” I purr with a smirk.

Moaning, my head drops back as he rubs himself against my panty-covered slit. I can feel myself getting wet and I suddenly can’t think of anything better than christening my nest with Morris.

“I’m going to give you every inch of it, baby girl,” he grunts, his hand wrapping in the waist of my panties and tearing them off.

I would stop wearing them if it wasn’t so fucking messy.

“Promises, promises,” I whisper, gasping as his long fingers wrap around my throat.

“You with me, baby?” he asks, smirking as I nod. “Good girl.”

Holding me against the wall, he releases his cock from his jeans. He slides it over my slick pussy, growling under his breath as he watches my eyes roll.

I’m so turned on and emotional, I can tell it won’t take much for me to come.

His hazel eyes say so much as he gazes at me, the corded muscles of his arms on full display as he holds me effortlessly. His hand that pulled out his cock is now gripping my ass and hip, his teeth worrying at his gorgeous, full lips.

“Morris,” I breathe as his hand squeezes gently, his thumb rubbing my pulse. “Please.”

“Tell me you want me,” he rasps. I can see him worrying, feel the words “not enough” floating through my mind through our connection. I don’t usually get thoughts from him, since our bond is weak, but he’s practically screaming at me.

“Yes,” I say. “I want you.”

The release of his breath is so loud, I can see it in his entire body. I don’t need to say anything else, Morris allows his cock to slide into my channel, and I whine at the stretch.

“Are you okay?” he asks, his head resting on mine as he freezes. I’m impaled on his cock and I want more!

“Yes, please don’t stop, Morris,” I whine.

“By all means, give the girl more,” Kane purrs, leaning against the entrance to the attic. There’s a separate staircase to come up here, I’m not surprised someone came up to find us.

The last time I had sex with Morris was at the auction. It makes sense that he’s worried about hurting me.

“I’m not made of glass,” I remind Morris. “I want to feel you the entire time I sign the paperwork.”

“Fuck yeah,” Kane grunts, pulling out his cock as he gets comfortable to watch. This is my crazy life now.

Morris pulls my attention back by squeezing my throat to the point where my pussy spasms in response.

It tightens my focus, keeps me in the room the same way knife play did with Kane. I don’t feel as if he’s going to hurt me, not anymore.

His hips not only thrust but twist as he fucks me into the wall, his pelvis grinding against my clit deliciously each time. I can’t take but a small sip of breath between thrusts, but I feel good. This feels right.

Morris’ teeth are gritting together as he struggles not to come, and Kane walks around to push him against me.

“I want to be in charge,” he growls in Morris’ ear, making me whimper with need. God, yes please. Is he going to fuck Morris into me?

We haven’t done anything like this, since the beta had held himself away from me when I’ve had sex with one of the brothers.

Kane pulls Morris’ pants down lower, so that they trap his thighs, spitting on his cock as lubricant. Grunting, he pulls a knife, showing it to me as he cuts the beta’s outside thigh. Morris buries his face in my neck, groaning, and I watch as Kane rolls his pierced cock over the open cut.

They’re insane, and I fucking love it. My slick is coating Morris’ balls, slowly trailing down my thighs. Sex is messy as an omega, but the things we can do are fun.

“Fuck me, Alpha,” Morris groans, his hands now holding me tightly. I have a feeling otherwise I’d have bruises after what’s about to come. Maybe I needed padding on my walls…

Any other thoughts are gone as Kane pushes his cock into Morris’ ass. The beta gasps, his cock jerking inside of me. The feeling makes me writhe against the wall, whining for more.

“Patience, little rabbit,” Kane growls. His thrusts back and forth force Morris to move as well, and soon Kane is in charge.

All I can do is hold on for dear life, and the room fills with our scents very quickly. The sounds of grunts, moans, and my keening are the only things I can hear. I can only hope no one else is around, because this feels too good to stop.

My eyes begin to roll as Morris moves my body, so his cock hits my G-spot over and over.

“That’s it. Fuck, you feel so good,” Morris groans.

“I bet she comes first,” Kane teases, his hand moving, so his thumb can rub my clit.

Gasping, I feel myself getting even closer, the punishing pace catapulting me into the inevitable orgasm.

Screaming, I come, Morris cutting it short as he closes off my air supply with his hand. Kane huffs conceitedly as he bites down on Morris’ shoulder, groaning as he comes hard.

The domino effect is in full force as Morris groans, and I feel the wetness between my thighs that’s not just me anymore.

“I fucking love you,” Morris growls in my ear, and I whimper as I hold him tightly to me.

“I love you too,” I gasp as his hand spasms to allow me a quick breath.

The beta shudders at my words, and I can feel the splash of tears on my shoulder as he holds me.

I never thought a tour of our house would end in a threesome, but once we clean up and fix our clothing, I have to admit it’s exactly what needed to happen.

Steps forward into our future, not back. Not ever.
