Chapter 6

Orion

" D ad, did you …"

Miranda’s voice was like a cold bucket of water thrown over us. We jumped apart so fast that I almost stumbled, my heart slamming against my ribs, as I turned to face her.

For one horrifying second, I was sure she had seen us. My mind raced through the potential fallout, the damage I’d done by almost giving in to something that could never be. But Miranda wasn’t looking at us. She was too absorbed in her laptop, her fingers tapping away as she walked into the room, her attention elsewhere.

Damn! That was close. If Miranda saw us, I’m sure all hell would have broken loose, I thought.

"… a blue file in your office?" she continued, oblivious to the tension so thick in the air it could have been cut with a knife. "I swear it was on my desk this morning, but now I can’t find it anywhere."

I forced myself to breathe, to calm the storm raging inside me. Luna stood frozen beside me, and I could feel the guilt radiating off her in waves. I cleared my throat, trying to regain some semblance of control.

"Miranda … my dear …" I said, my voice coming out steadier than I felt. "Is everything okay?"

She finally looked up from her screen, her brow furrowed in concentration. "Yeah, just looking for a file. It’s somewhere, I swear."

She glanced between us briefly, but if she noticed anything out of the ordinary, she didn’t show it.

I let out a silent breath of relief, though the tension in my chest didn’t fully dissipate.

"It’s not here. There’s no blue file here."

She turned to Luna, offering a quick smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

"Hey, Luna! Didn’t see you there. How’s it going? Hope my dad isn’t giving you too much trouble."

Luna’s voice was soft, strained. "Uhhh … you know, just the usual. Your dad has been … uhhh … very understanding."

Miranda nodded, already distracted again, as she tapped away on her laptop.

“Why are you desperately looking for the file?” I asked.

“It’s the file containing the sales record for last month. I actually took it home last night but can’t remember if I brought it to the office or left it at home. I’m just so confused.”

“Maybe you left it in your car or maybe it’s at home. You can call Jake to have someone check the house while you check your car.”

“Yeah … Uhh … that’s a good idea,” Luna said.

"Yeah, I’ll do just that, dad. Talk later?"

I nodded, forcing myself to smile. "Of course."

She left as quickly as she came, and the door closed behind her with a soft click. The silence that followed was suffocating. I could still feel Luna’s presence beside me, and the weight of what had almost happened hung heavily in the air.

I turned to face her, my heart still pounding. She was looking down, her hands clenched into fists at her sides, and I could see the guilt etched across her face.

"We can’t keep doing this," I said, the words coming out harsher than I intended. But the truth of it weighed on me. "But I don’t know how to stop."

She looked up at me, her eyes filled with the same turmoil I felt. "Neither do I," she whispered.

And that was the heart of it. Neither of us knew how to stop.

“Why don’t we stop thinking about the possibilities of what could happen? We don’t want our feelings for each other to end.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Let’s get away from everything, even if it’s for a night. How about you join me on my yacht tonight?”

“That’s not a good idea.”

“Come on, it’s just for tonight. I just want us to distance ourselves from the guilt, even if it’s just for a night. You don’t have to worry - Miranda won’t find out.”

“Uhh … I …”

“Just say yes. You don’t have to go home. We can just go to the marina from here. We can go now if you’d like.”

“Uhh … Okay, fine.”

“Great.”

I picked up my jacket as she went to get her bag. On our way out, I called Jake to inform the captain about my arrival.

The sun glistened off the calm waters as we cruised along the coastline. My yacht cut through the waves effortlessly, as she stood at the edge of the deck, her silhouette outlined by the fading sunlight, her hair catching the breeze. She was breathtaking, and the sight of her stirred something deep within me that I could no longer deny.

I walked up behind her, the heat of the day still lingering in the air, but it was nothing compared to the fire that burned between us. Without thinking, I reached out and placed my hands on her shoulders. She tensed for a moment, but then relaxed into my touch, leaning back slightly against me.

"You’re quiet," I murmured, my voice low as I leaned closer, my lips brushing against her ear. "What's on your mind, Luna?"

She turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting mine. There was a softness in her gaze, but also something deeper—something that mirrored the same longing I felt.

"I’ve been thinking about us," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "About how complicated this is. How it shouldn’t be happening, but …" Her voice trailed off, and she sighed.

"But you can’t stop feeling it either," I finished for her, stepping closer, until my chest was against her back. My arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer. She didn’t resist, and the warmth of her body against mine made me yearn for her more.

"No," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I can’t."

I turned her gently to face me, my hands sliding down to rest on her hips. Her breath caught as she looked up at me, her eyes filled with both desire and uncertainty. I leaned in slowly, giving her the chance to pull away if she wanted to—but she didn’t. Instead, she tilted her head up, closing the small distance between us.

Our lips met in a slow, deliberate kiss. It started slowly, almost hesitant, like we were both trying to navigate unfamiliar territory. But the moment our mouths touched, something ignited between us—a fire that we couldn’t control. The kiss deepened, becoming more urgent, more desperate. I pulled her closer, needing to feel every inch of her against me. Her hands tangled in my hair, pulling me even closer, as if she couldn’t get enough either.

We broke apart, both of us breathing heavily, but neither of us moved away. "Orion …" she whispered, her voice shaky with emotion. "This … this is wrong."

"Maybe," I murmured against her lips, "but it doesn’t feel wrong. Not when I’m with you."

She looked up at me, her eyes searching mine for something—answers, reassurance, I wasn’t sure. But all I could give her was the truth.

"I want you, Luna. I’ve wanted you ever since I laid eyes on you. I can’t fight it anymore."

Her eyes softened, and with a tender touch, she lifted her hand to gently cradle my face.

"I want you too, Orion. But what about …"

"Shh …" I silenced her with another kiss, not wanting to talk anymore, not wanting to think about the consequences. All that mattered was this moment, this connection between us that neither of us could ignore.

I swept her up in my arms, carrying her below deck to the private cabin. The door closed behind us with a soft click, and the world outside faded away. It was just us, alone in this small, intimate space. I set her down on the edge of the bed, my hands lingering on her hips as I looked down at her.

She reached for me, pulling me down with her, as she lay back against the soft sheets. Our lips met again, and this time, there was no hesitation. No doubt. Only the need to feel closer, to be closer. My hands roamed over her body, exploring every curve, every soft dip of her skin. She responded to my touch with quiet gasps and soft moans, her fingers digging into my back, as if she couldn’t get enough.

Clothes were shed, and soon we were wrapped around each other, lost in the heat of the moment.

My fingers slowly navigated their way into her wet pussy.

“Mmmm …” she moaned.

“I’m about to cum.” I stopped because I wanted her to reach her peak only when I permitted her to.

Moving Luna around, I bent her back, her body arching beautifully as I grasped both her hands with one of mine, pulling her hair gently with the other. She gasped, her moans already escaping her lips, raw and unrestrained. I slid into her, and her voice caught in her throat before spilling out in breathless, urgent sounds that only drove me further.

"Orion ..." she moaned, her voice trembling, breathless.

"You feel incredible, Luna," I groaned, thrusting deeper. Her moans only fueled the fire, making each movement more desperate, more intense. I could feel her body responding to mine, every shudder, every gasp, pushing us both closer to the edge.

"Don't stop ... please ... don't stop," she begged, her head tilting back, eyes half-closed in bliss. Her body trembled, her legs starting to shake as I gripped her tighter, the intensity between us building with every second.

"You like that, don’t you?" I whispered roughly into her ear, tugging her hair just enough to make her arch even more into me.

"Yes ... yes ... oh God, yes ..." she gasped, her voice filled with urgency and desire. "Orion, more ... I need more."

Her words sent a surge of heat through me, and I thrusted harder, faster, feeling the overwhelming need to give her everything she was asking for. Our movements became frantic, our breathing uneven as we lost ourselves completely in each other.

"You're mine, Luna," I growled, my voice thick with desire. "All mine."

"Yes," she cried out, her legs shaking as the tension between us snapped. "I'm yours ... only yours."

Her body clenched around me as we both reached the peak together, her moans filling the air, her release shaking her to her core. I followed her over the edge, my own release crashing through me as I held her tighter, not wanting to let go.

For a long moment, we lay there in silence, our bodies still entwined, our breathing slowly returning to normal. I held her close, not wanting to let go, not wanting this moment to end. But reality had a way of creeping back in, and I could see the uncertainty returning to her eyes as she looked up at me.

"Orion. Uh … We need to talk. Umm … there’s something you need to know. I’ve had visions. Visions of you and your clan."

“My clan? What are you talking about?” I tried to feign ignorance.

“I’m not just … normal. My mom was a seer. She often predicted the future, and then the gift was passed down to me after her death.

“You are a seer?”

“Yes, I’m a seer.”

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I stared at her, my mind racing, as I tried to process what she was saying. "A seer?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper. "You’ve seen … what?"

She hesitated, and then took a deep breath.

"I’ve seen … the danger that surrounds you. The rival clans … the darkness that’s coming for you. I didn’t know how to tell you, but I can’t keep it a secret anymore."

“When exactly were you planning on telling me that you were a seer? I mean … why didn’t you tell me before?”

“Whether I was going to tell you or not is actually not the problem.”

“Then what is the problem? Because I am confused.”

“The problem is that you are not being honest about who you actually are.”

Luna’s gaze pierced deep into mine, as if she could see past every barrier I’d built, down to the very core of who I was. It wasn’t just a look - it was an unraveling. Her green eyes, so intense and unyielding, bore into me with a quiet strength that left me feeling exposed, vulnerable in a way I hadn’t felt in years.

“Who exactly are you Orion, or should I say, what exactly are you? I need to hear the truth from you.”

I was about to respond, to demand more answers, but before I could say anything, my phone buzzed on the nightstand. The sound cut through the tension like a knife, and I cursed under my breath as I reached for it.

It was an urgent call from one of my men.

"Orion," the voice on the other end said, filled with panic. "We’ve been attacked. One of our own … Tremont … he's dead!”

“What!”
