After Spanish on Tuesday, I went to talk to Sabrina. I knew that Everly was still in class, so it was the perfect time to get Sabrina alone.

I held up my hand to knock on the door and hesitated. My heart rate increased and my hands started to get sweaty.

Why am I nervous about this?

Taking a deep breath, I finally knocked on the door, and Sabrina answered.

"Everly isn't here," she said, tossing her platinum blonde hair over her shoulder.

"I know. I want to talk to you."

She looked at me for a long moment before stepping out of my way and letting me in the room.

My eyes took a quick scan of the room. I saw a bouquet of flowers in a vase on the mini fridge between their beds.

"Those are pretty," I said.

A quick smile flitted over Sabrina's face as she closed the door. "They are, aren't they? She gave them to me yesterday for our three month anniversary."

Three months? Why didn't Everly tell me? I counted back. That would mean that they started dating at the beginning of June.

Why would she hide this from me? We've never hidden things from each other before.

"Oh, well, congratulations," I said, fumbling for something to say.

"Thank you. I'm guessing she didn't tell you?"

I shook my head. She gestured to Everly's bed and I sat down.

"I told her not to," she admitted, quietly, sitting on her own bed. "This is all new to me. I know you've been best friends forever. I just…" she trailed off, looking out the window.

"Sabrina," I said, waiting for her to look at me. "This is new for her too. I'm happy for both of you. I love Everly. But please don't stifle her spirit. And don't make her keep secrets from me."

Her face flushed, and she looked down, nodding. "Understood. I'm sorry."

When she looked up, I smiled at her. "It's okay. I just don't want Ev to ever be in an awkward position between us again."

She nodded again, moving to stand on the floor. I took it as a sign that she was done with the conversation. Standing also, I gave her a smile as I put my hand on the doorknob.

"Thanks, Lexi."

I smiled and left the room, closing the door behind me.
