33. Chapter Thirty-Three
Chapter Thirty-Three
Korbin
R aevyn had found us on the outskirts of the abbey, and it was disconcerting that she'd managed to just escape. I knew something was right and I could sense a shift in the balance of her soul. She was keeping a secret from us, a big one, and I didn't know how to go about asking her. So, I decided to just keep an eye on her and be there for when she was ready to tell us. Unless I thought she was going to do something to endanger herself. Then I'd probably talk to the others about intervening.
I felt Rook settle onto the chair beside me and sensed his hand in front of my face. A finger traced the gap between my eyebrows which was furrowed in deep thought.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked as intertwined our fingers, his thumb tracing the back of my hand. His touch always made me feel grounded.
"I was wondering what happened at the abbey."
"I've been thinking about that too," he said with a sigh. "I think she had a conversation with her grandmother."
I hummed in agreement. "Has she said anything to you?"
"Nope, but I'm sure she will."
I could only hope so, but we still needed to address the issue of who her father was and whether she really was related to Hades. I wasn't sure how I felt about that to be honest. It didn't change how I felt about Raevyn, but would it change how I felt about our King? There was no point worrying about it until we knew more and to do that, we had to get into the Isles of the Blessed. And for that we needed permission from one of the Upper Gods. Hades might be one of the most powerful Gods, but he didn't sit in Olympus and that meant he couldn't grant us permission. We would need one of the Upper Gods that sat on the Council and that meant relying on a favour from a Moroi .
Which could be an absolute fucking disaster.
I placed a kiss on the top of his head and traced a finger along the curve of his cheek. "You really are perfect, baby boy."
The skin by his mouth stretched into a smile beneath my hand. "Love you, too."
His mouth met mine in a soft slow kiss, that spoke of love and the relationship we had. It was a lazy exploration and I let him take what he wanted from my mouth. It wasn't often that I let him take the lead but I sat there while he took charge and brought me to my fucking knees with the amount of emotion I could feel coming through our bond.
"This is so fucking hot," someone whispered right by my ear. Rook jerked away from me and flinched in my lap.
"Bloody Hell, Hawk. What the fuck?" Rook snapped.
"Just enjoying the view," the Moroi said with laughter in his voice. "Would you kiss me like that?"
I heard a slap against skin and Hawk chuckled. I figured that he must have reached out to touch Rook without permission and suffered a slapped hand for his efforts.
"It would be up to Rook, Hawk, and you would do well to remember that." I turned in Hawk's direction and reached my hand out to touch him. My hand found his chest and I felt the vibrations of his aura against my fingers. An image of him popped into my mind, and I could discern that he was lounging with his arm along the back of the sofa and, unsurprisingly, not wearing a shirt.
There was something twisted about the man that called to the darkness within me. Maybe it was his size, the sheer prowess that he emanated, that had me interested. The idea that he could dominate me easily seemed to have my dick taking notice.
Hawk must have picked up on my internal debate because I felt him lean closer.
"All you need to do is ask." His nose brushed along my cheek bone, and I could feel Rook squirming in my lap, no doubt enjoying me being put in my place by someone else.
I gripped Hawk's chin, dug my fingers into his cheeks, and halted his exploration of my face. "I don't ask. I take."
His teeth nipped at my chin. "Then take, little rege ."
I froze for a moment, suddenly feeling unsure of myself. I'd never felt drawn to another man, other than Rook, before but something about Hawk drew me in. And I fuck, did I want a taste.
I slammed his lips to mine and jumped headfirst into the darkness that was Hawk. It was bitter and harsh, sharp and pulled me under his spell, dragging me down deeper until I wasn't sure what was up or down anymore. His hand tangled in my hair, and he forced me backwards, using his size to dominate me. I didn't know how it happened; I may have started the kiss, but I definitely wasn't controlling it now.
Hawk nipped at my bottom lip, his fangs scraping against my skin, and his tongue thrust into my mouth with a confidence that had my dick aching in my trousers.
His hand still gripped my hair at the back of my head and when he pulled back, I wanted to follow his lips because I wanted more.
"Holy fuck," Rook hissed. "That was hot."
"I agree," Hawk said, his hand tugging my hair and pulling my head back. His tongue ran up my jugular and my balls tightened. Fuck, I was at high risk of cumming in my pants again. His fangs scraped along my skin, and I shivered beneath him.
"You need to stop," I whispered, trying to hold on to the last shreds of my control.
"Why? Scared of submitting?" he asked, his lips trailing tantalisingly over my neck.
"Yes, but also, we have work to do."
Rook sniggered. "Sounds like a copout, love."
Hawk pulled back and pressed a hard kiss against my lips. "I'll be waiting when you're ready. But we will talk about work if you prefer."
Then he sat back on the sofa and my senses returned to normal, allowing me to think clearly. "So, um, which God owes you a favour?"
Hawk laughed softly. "Ares."
"The fuck?" Rook blurted.
"My thoughts exactly," I said. "How did that happen?"
"He got caught in a compromising situation with a married woman. I merely helped him out of the tricky situation."
Rook swivelled in my lap and turned to face Hawk. "That doesn't seem to warrant owing you a favour."
"It does when the married woman is a Queen, and the fall out would cause a war that would lead to his embarrassment."
"Naughty boy," Rook chuckled.
"Very," Hawk said. "But in return for avoiding the war and saving his lady love, he promised to grant me a favour should I ever need it."
"Guess it's time to call it in then," I said with a smile.
Hawk hummed in agreement. "I guess it is. I'll make the arrangements."
