Chapter 46
CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
Adriana
“Besides the pharmacy, did you want to stop anywhere before we go home?” Cole asks as he gets into his truck.
“No, I’m honestly ready to just be home.” I tell him.
“Do you want me to get you settled and go back out for your meds?”
“Casanova, that’s silly. We are out right now. It’s okay,” I answer.
Cole just nods his head. I know he’s trying to be helpful, but the only thing I really want to do is wash yesterday off of me.
We get in and out of the pharmacy quickly and get back on the road. I must have nodded off because I feel the brush of Cole’s hand on my face.
“Hey, we’re home.” Cole informs me.
“I fell asleep?” I ask to confirm.
“You did. It was only for a few minutes.” He answers.
Cole grabs the bag from the pharmacy, gets out, and comes to my side of the truck to help me out.
Ugh, I love this man so much.
We head inside from the back of the house, straight into the kitchen. Cole goes to the fridge to grab a couple bottles of water.
“How about we go upstairs and I start a bath for you?” Cole asks.
“That sounds perfect. I want the hospital smell off of me.” I tell him.
He walks behind me upstairs and I know it’s not to look at ass although he probably is, but it’s to make sure I don’t fall. We make it into the bedroom. Cole puts all my medications next to the bed and goes straight into the bathroom to start the water for my bath. He comes out and takes my hand and walks me into the bathroom
He helps me undress and get into the tub. He’s so gentle and how he is taking care of me just makes me love him more.
“Let me know if you need help to get out.” Coles says before he leaves.
The hot water feels so good on my skin. I’m able to relax for the first time in over twenty-four hours. I can feel the tension leaving my body. This was the right call. I’m able to wash up with my hand that is not in a cast and get out of the tub on my own.
As I walk out of the bathroom, I see Cole sitting on the bed with his head in his hands.
“How are you doing?” I ask him.
“I should ask you that, babe,” he responds.
“Well, after that bath, I’m feeling much better. I’m okay. I wish yesterday didn’t happen, but at least now Dylan won’t be able to do this again. You and the guys were able to reach me before anything bad really happened.” I tell him.
“What happened to you was bad enough, though. I’m just happy that Heather called me right away.” He says.
“Me too. I’m sorry I went on my own. But I honestly didn’t think it was anyone else besides Toby.” I say to him.
I walk right up to him and cup his jaw with my hand, so he has to look at me.
“You did everything right. This is not your fault, Cole. Do not blame yourself.” I tell him.
I give him a kiss and go to the closet to get dressed. I come back out and see him in the same position.
“Let’s order something to eat. I’m hungry and will need to take my meds.” I suggest.
“Italian?” he asks.
“Yes, please.” I answer.
Cole shakes his head yes and grabs his phone to order. Getting in on my side of the bed, he hands over the remote to me. I scroll to the Disney plus app and start A Goofy Movie. Cole gets off the phone, and he lays down on top of the bedding next to me. I snuggle into the comforter, knowing that he is right there with me, and fall asleep.
It’s been almost two weeks since I was released from the hospital. Most of my bruises are fading and my eye is almost fully open. Minus my hand that’s in a cast. I’m feeling much better.
The team offered for me to see their therapist to help me through the trauma of what happened. I’m going to take them up on this. I feel like it will help me be able to put it in the past and I start this week.
I know I told Cole I was okay, and really I am. But, I just don’t want to be afraid to go to the stadium. I haven’t had to, and I know Heather is trying to make sure I don’t. She comes to visit everyday so Cole can get out of the house. He hasn’t left my side since we got home, and Heather has to force him.
I know he feels guilty about what happened and thinks it is his fault, but it’s not. Dylan Crawford is just fucked up. The police called the day after I was released from the hospital and told us he was arrested for aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping. The security footage from the stadium shows what we all had told them in our statements is what happened.
They advised I might have to go to court depending on if he pleads not guilty and there is a trial. If we don’t hear from them, it means he pleads guilty or took a plea bargain. I’m hoping that’s the case. I do not want to see Dylan Crawford if I don’t have to ever again. Officer Collins advised they would reach out to let us know what happens.
I am looking forward to getting back to work with Heather and the foundation. I’m ready to get back to my life as it was beforehand. Before Cole goes back to his schedule with the team, I want to enjoy the last few days that he is home.
The fact that they let him be home for ten days meant so much to me, considering we just started dating. The team has brought me into the family just from working with the foundation, but even more so since it came out that we are dating. I know I’m looking forward to seeing him back on the field. The team has been doing okay, but I know he’s itching to get back out there. At least that’s what I hope. He has seemed on edge for the last few days.
I’m watching tv in the living room when Cole comes up from the basement.
“Hey Casanova.”
“Hey Sugar. What are you up to?”
“Just watching some tv. I was thinking about taking a nap. Any chance you’d want to join me?” I ask him with a sultry voice.
“A nap you say?” He asks me with understanding in his voice.
“Mmhhmmm.” I confirm.
Cole walks over to where I am on the couch and picks me up bridal style to bring me upstairs for our nap.
