Bonus Epilogue

Bailey

My phone rang and I expected it to be Dean. I didn't even look at the screen.

"Hi babe. I'm on my way home now."

"Um, Bailey?"

I pulled back and looked at the screen.

"Oscar?"

"Yeah. It's been a while."

"You're an asshole. Why haven't you called me?"

"Why haven't you called me?"

"Because I was going through some shit. You wouldn't understand."

"I'm sorry, Bails. I've been studying and settling in here. I'm getting a lot of pressure to rush the doghouse. So I've been walking through the motions of it. They really are a great group of guys. I just don't know what to do."

"You'll figure it out."

"Come on, don't be mad. When you get here next semester we can spend time together and catch up."

"I'm not going to the ARC next month, which you'd know if you'd bothered to check in with me."

"What? What the hell Bailey? You were looking forward to college. Did Patrick pull you on full-time at Westin Force already?"

"No. Do you remember when we spoke last month?"

"Of course. You were in Ravenden."

"And I told you I found my true mate."

"The raven?"

"Yes, the raven."

"Ah, Bailey, I suck. I'm so sorry. You went through all that alone?"

"I wasn't alone, Oscar."

"Where are you now? Are you okay? That must have been so hard."

"It wasn't that bad. Dean's great."

"Dean? You mated him?"

"He's my true mate, Oscar. Of course I did."

"Wow. That's great, Bails. As long as you're happy, I'm happy for you. I'll be home for Thanksgiving in a few weeks. Will I get to meet him then?"

"Not unless you're coming to Ravenden for Thanksgiving."

"You aren't in San Marco?"

"No. Dean's in charge of security of Ravenden. I work with him and we live here now."

"Shit! I've missed a ton."

"You have no idea."

I spent the rest of the drive home filling him in on all that happened.

When I pulled up to the house, Dean was outside waiting for me.

He opened my car door and offered me his hand.

I pointed to my phone.

"Oscar," I mouthed.

"About damn time."

"What was that?" Oscar asked.

"Dean says it's about damn time you called me."

"So he knows all about me?"

"Of course. I tell him everything."

"This is so weird. I feel like I've missed so much."

"I know. Growing up sucks. But I don't want to lose you, Oscar. You're still my best friend."

"But I'm close second, right?" Dean asked.

"You're my mate. That doesn't count."

"Hold on," Oscar said, but then he hung up on me.

A second later a video message request popped up on my screen.

I smiled and answered it.

"Hey, you," he said.

"I'm still mad at you. So don't just hey me."

"I wouldn't disappear on her like that again, dude," Dean said.

"You must be Dean."

"And you're the infamous Oscar."

"Don't be mad, Bails. It's been a crazy semester."

"Is there a girl involved in this crazy?"

He laughed.

"No way. I don't even have time to date here."

"What?" Dean said. "College is supposed to be the time to cut loose and have fun."

I rolled my eyes. "Everyone knows how much fun you had."

He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my neck.

"I have lot more fun with you."

"Oh my God! You lost your virginity already?" Oscar said.

I laughed. "I told you, I mated him, so yeah, that's kind of a thing. Wait, you haven't lost your V-card?"

"Maybe I want to save it for my own true mate someday. Seems to have worked for you."

"I can't really argue with that."

"You two really are two of a kind," Dean said.

"Not all of us are horndogs like you," I challenged.

He shot me a look that said he knew better, because he did. I'd been thoroughly corrupted by him and I loved every second of it.

"Any chance you'll at least come and visit me? Or I can come and visit you," Oscar suggested.

"You're welcome here any time."

"I'd love that."

"I'll see what I can do and let you know. I need to smooth things over with my parents when I'm home for Thanksgiving, but Winter Break is just around the corner."

"That's perfect."

"Do me a favor, man. I know we don't know each other, but I think it's safe to say we both care a great deal about this girl. So call once in a while, okay?"

"The phone does work two ways. You guys stay in touch too."

"Love you, Oscar."

"Love you, too, Bails."

I stared at the phone after he was gone.

"Are you okay?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, I'm just glad he finally called."

"Me too, but he's not wrong. Why haven't you called him?"

I grinned as I took his hand and walked him upstairs to our new home.

"Well, I have been a little busy."

He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder as he raced upstairs.

"I'm gonna keep you busy for many years to come, gorgeous."
