Before We Begin
Before We Begin
The snowed-in trope has always been one of my favorites, and I loved the absolute ridiculousness of a Texas snow-in.
Anyone who’s lived in Texas for more than a minute knows that this place falls apart when the temperatures go below freezing. This is especially true of the Central Texas Hill Country and Highland Lakes areas, where the steep, winding roads force folks to shelter in place until the snow melts (usually less than twenty-four hours later).
This plus the sweet cop-slash-morally gray bad guy vibe made this a super fun story to write!
