Chapter 6

SIX

SMOKE

The guys are already done eating and back to entertaining their flavors of the night. It’s starting to get a little bit rowdier, and I can’t help but keep watch. If only the clubhouse was already ours and set up, we wouldn’t have to worry about being out in the open in the middle of a public park, and we could do whatever we wanted.

“Are you done?” Kelly asks as she stands.

I nod my head as I chew. Kelly takes my plate, walks over to the barrel, and dumps it in the trash. Greedily, I drink her in as she walks toward me. She’s got on tiny little shorts and has her hair down around her shoulders. I love the way her thighs rub together as she moves toward me. Once she’s close enough, I pull her into me, making her straddle my lap.

Kelly laughs. “You could have asked me, you know.”

I lean forward and kiss her collarbone. “But where would the fun in that be?”

She sighs as she melts into me. Her hands go to the back of my head, playing with my hair while my hands roam her body. She slightly tugs on my hair, making me tip my head back, and she covers my lips with her.

Fuck. I could get drunk from just kissing her. As long as I live, I will never get enough of her. Absolutely everything about Kelly does it for me.

She whimpers and grinds her pussy against my denim-covered cock.

“Goddamn, you fucking tempt me,” I rasp as I nip at her bottom lip.

“Then what are you waiting for?”

Reaching up, I cup her breast before tweaking her nipple, making her moan. “I already told you, dollface, I’m not taking you in front of my brothers for the first time. I won’t share you like that.”

Kelly sags against me, burying her head between my neck and shoulder. “You know, I’ve been a good girl my entire life. Followed every rule to a T. Then I meet you, and it’s like none of the rules matter. You make me want things I’ve never dreamed of. You make me feel things I’ve never felt. You’ve completely consumed me, and I don’t care who knows.”

Groaning, I cover her lips with mine. “You slay me. You do the same for me, but it’s going to have to wait. No matter how tempting you are, I won’t budge.”

Kelly lifts her head and pouts. “You’re no fun.”

I chuckle. “I’m sure you’ll be singing a different tune soon enough.”

“Promises, promises.”

“How about we say goodbye to these fuckers, and I take you back to your place and prove to you that I’m not all talk. How does that sound?”

Kelly hums as she rotates her hips, making my eyes cross in pleasure.

Goddamn, the sex is going to be explosive between us.

“My place? Why not yours?”

“Because I’m not taking you back to a cheap motel where we risk the bed going through the wall. We’re going to your place.”

“I think I want that. Going to my place, I mean.”

I raise a brow and smirk. “Only think?”

Kelly rolls her eyes. “No need to get cocky…yet.”

“Oh baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Gunner’s whistle cuts through the air, getting my attention. He’s standing in a circle with our brothers, and he waves me over.

“Gunner needs me for a sec. Once we’re done, I’ll tell him you and I are taking off. Sound good?”

“Works for me,” she says as she swings her leg over me and sits on the bench next to me. “Go do whatever it is you boys do.”

“Dollface, I don’t know if you haven’t noticed, but we’re not boys, we’re men,” I tell her as I stand.

She rolls her eyes but smiles. “Hurry up, you and I have a date with a mattress.”

“Yes, ma’am.” I lean down and steal a quick kiss before walking to my boys. “What’s up?”

“We got a message from Javier. Run takes place in two weeks. We’re meeting up with another club out of Texas for the trade,” Gunner tells me.

“Any word on who?” I ask as I cross my arms.

“They have ties to the Lotus MC, so I’m assuming them,” Mac, our road cap tells me.

I frown as I run through the different chapters that we’ve met through my mind. “Do we know any of them?”

“I met a Lotus from Chicago once. Cool dude. We fought some assholes who didn’t like the word no. After we were done, we grabbed a drink together,” Bear tells us.

I nod and turn back to Gunner. “Find out what you can about their clubs in Texas. It should be clear who we are dealing with.”

Gunner nods. “Can do. What do you want me to tell Javier?”

“Tell him we’re ready to roll when he wants us.”

Tank rubs his hands together. “Fuck, is it weird that I’m excited?”

Bear chuckles quietly. “Why are you excited?”

Tank turns toward him. “I’ve missed the adrenaline dump from this shit, man. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a blast with you guys looking for a new place to settle, but it’s time to get back to business and doing what we’re good at.”

“Amen,” I mutter. “I can’t wait for the deal to close so we can get the keys and get started on setting up. I’m sick of sitting around, waiting on someone else’s ass.”

“Well, no one’s ever said you’re patient,” Gunner jokes, making the guys laugh.

“Like you guys are much better,” I tell them.

Tank shakes his head. “Never said we were, Prez, never said we were.”

I open my mouth to say something, but screeching cuts me off. Turning, I look over my shoulder, and my blood runs cold at what I see in front of me. Without thinking, I take off toward my girl. My girl who’s about to be attacked by a hoard of fucking sluts for no reason.

Kelly

Sighing, I tilt my head back as happiness and excitement roll through me. Ever since I met Jax, I’ve been attracted to him, wanted him, and tonight that’s finally going to happen. His big hands make me feel like a live wire when my clothes are on, and I can’t wait to see how much more intoxicating it will be when we’re both naked.

He makes me feel alive in the best possible way. There’s just something about him that gives me the confidence I’ve never had before. Now if only I can find a way to keep it while at work. I frown as I think about going back to that place. God, do I hate it in the worst way.

While I love real estate, I hate everything about that place and the men who work there.

I feel a presence approaching and open my eyes right when they sit down next to me. Instead of it being Jax like I was hoping, it’s one of the girls that came with one of his friends.

“Hello,” I say hesitantly.

All day the women have been watching me as much as I’ve watched them, yet we’ve never approached each other.

Maybe Jax was right and there’s a clear line between old lady and sweetbutt, I muse.

“Yeah, cut the shit. I wanna know why you’re hogging the boss,” the woman says.

I cringe at the way she smacks her gum. Seriously, doesn’t she know that’s fucking disgusting? It’s not that hard to chew with your mouth closed.

“Hello, anyone home?” she says, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

I lean back and frown. “What do you mean, I’m hogging the boss?”

The woman rolls her eyes. “You’re hogging the prez and I want to know why.”

“I’m not…”

The woman laughs and looks at me with pity. “You poor thing. You don’t even know whose lap you keep crawling into like a thirsty bitch. Jax is the prez of the club, which means he’s the boss.”

“Okay, and…”

“Look, it’s cute that you’re smitten with the guy, and frankly, I can’t blame you. He’s fine as hell, but he needs a woman who knows how to handle him, and sweetheart, you don’t. You have this cloud of innocence wrapped around you, and while you might have him distracted now, it’s not going to last. You need to walk away before he breaks your heart.”

The fucking audacity. Who does this woman think she is? Jax hasn’t even looked her way once tonight, and yet she thinks she can walk right up to me and tell me what’s best for him? I don’t think so.

“So you think I should walk away from him now and leave him to one of you?”

Her shoulders relax as she smiles. She reaches over and pats my leg. “Now you’re catching on. It’s nothing personal, it’s just that he needs someone to rule by his side who knows the score and knows how the life works.”

I hum as my anger builds.

“Now I did you a favor and called a rideshare. He should be waiting for you up by the road. Why don’t you scurry along now before you make any more of a fool of yourself.”

Without thinking, I turn and grab my drink, tossing it in her face. Quickly, I stand and take a step back.

Shit. I just threw my drink at her. I’ve never done that before.

The woman jumps and screeches as she shoves her wet hair out of her face.

“You fucking psycho, you threw a drink at me!” she screams.

Her friends come rushing toward us, and I take a step back.

Shit. Shit. Shit. I’m about to get my ass pummeled by a bunch of girls. It’s like high school all over again.

The soaked rat of a woman lunges for me right as a pair of arms wrap around my waist, pulling me out of her reach.

“Enough!” Jax barks.

He’s so tense I can feel his anger vibrating through him.

“Someone better tell me what the fuck just happened,” he demands.

“That whore just assaulted me!” the woman cries.

“She told me I should walk away from you before you leave me,” I tell him quietly.

“What the fuck did you just say?” he asks, looking down at me, then he shakes his head. “Never mind. We’re leaving.”

Jax tosses me over his shoulder like I weigh nothing and marches toward his bike.

“Get rid of the trash, boys. I never want to see them again,” he calls over his shoulder.

“You got it, Prez,” one of the guys says.

I can hear Gunner tell the woman, “That’s Prez’s old lady you just insulted, you dimwit.”

I smile at that. Even Gunner knows.

“I can walk, you know,” I tell Jax.

Jax slaps my ass, making me hiss. “Not now, dollface.”

Reading the room, I do as he says. He sets me down next to his bike and hands me my helmet. Once mine’s secure, I get on behind him, and he takes off. I can feel my heart breaking all the way back to my place. He’s mad, and I don’t blame him. My temper got the best of me, and I ruined the evening. If only I could have kept my cool and walked away, none of this would be happening right now.

He pulls into my drive, and shuts his bike off. He all but pulls me off the bike and drags me toward the door. Tears fill my eyes as he takes my keys I had given him earlier and opens the door. Shit, this is it.

Why did I have to ruin such a good thing?

“Why the tears?” he asks as he takes my helmet off and sets it on the table next to the door.

“I’m sorry I embarrassed you,” I tell him quietly.

Jax’s eyes narrow. “You think I’m embarrassed because you let that bitch know that I belong to you?”

“Well, yeah, you dragged me out of there.”

Jax reaches out and grabs my hand as he steps closer to me. He places my hand over his denim-covered dick, and I can’t help but squeeze as he thrusts it into my hand.

“Tell me, does it feel like I’m mad at you?”
