Chapter 2

TWO

SMOKE

She’s utterly adorable.

I can’t help but smile as I think about the way her eyes widened and her voice came out high-pitched when she saw me. Something about the sound and the look made me rock-hard. It was like those two actions woke up some primal part in my brain that screamed mine.

She’s the prey caught in my web, and she doesn’t even know it yet.

It took everything in me not to beat those two assholes she works with into oblivion for talking to her the way they did. For thinking they are better than her. Dollface doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment. What she really needs is a new job, and I’ll help her find one.

If she wants to stay in real estate, she can, or if she wants to try something else, that will be okay too. As long as she’s happy and mine, I don’t give a fuck what she does. I don’t know what it is about her, but in under an hour she has spellbound me completely.

“What do you think?” Kelly asks, pulling me out of my musings.

I look up and see that she’s biting the corner of her lip nervously.

What I wouldn’t do to bite it myself.

Would she gasp and arch her body into mine?

Would she whimper as her walls flutter around me as she comes from the slightest bit of pain?

Gunner kicks me under the table, prompting me to respond.

Clearing my throat, I adjust myself under the table.

“I want to see these. Would it be possible today?” I say, pointing to a couple of properties.

Relief fills her face as her shoulders relax. “Great. Let me print those off so you can have a copy. There is nothing in the listings asking for a heads up before viewing, so you can definitely check them out today.”

“Sounds good.” I shoot her a smile.

Kelly ducks her head and blushes as she scurries out of the room.

Like I said, she’s adorable. So sweet and innocent. Not my usual type, but I want her.

My cock twitches at the thought of dirtying her up. Corrupting her.

Gunner turns toward me and smirks. “You like her.”

“How about you head back to the hotel and check on the guys? I’ll go check the properties with her.”

Gunner chuckles and shakes his head as he stands. “I hope you know what you’re doing. Call me if you need me.”

I nod as he leaves.

A few minutes later, when Kelly comes scurrying back into the room, she jerks back when she sees it’s just me. “Is your partner in the restroom?”

“My best friend had to leave to take care of some things. Am I riding with you, or are you riding with me?”

She tilts her head to the side. “For?”

“To go view the properties.”

Her eyes widen. “Yes, of course. Sorry, I forgot about the fact I would need to go with you and I don’t have a car.”

I hide my smile as I stand. “Then you can ride with me.”

“O-okay,” she says nervously as she clenches the papers in her hand.

Stepping toward her, I rest my hand on her lower back and usher her toward her desk. I wait for her to grab her purse before leading her outside.

“You have a bike,” she says so matter-of-factly as she stares at my motorcycle sitting outside the office.

“I do.” I chuckle, leading her closer.

“I’ve never been on a motorcycle.” She sounds nervous now.

Goddamn, does that sentence do something to me. I love the fact that I will be the first and last guy she will ever ride with, and she will be the only woman to ever ride on my bike.

The thought hits me like a ton of bricks, but it doesn’t scare me.

I grab my helmet from off the seat and step toward her. “I’ve ridden a bike since I could walk. You’ll be safe.”

“I know,” she says softly as I place the helmet on her head.

Those two words settle something in my soul. Just a moment ago she was nervous, but as she looks into my eyes, it’s all gone. She is putting her trust in me, knowing I will do whatever I can to keep her safe. It’s a heady feeling.

While I buckle the helmet, she studies me, and I can’t help but wonder what she thinks.

Does she like what she sees?

Does she want me as much as I want her?

“You have a hair tie?”

She holds up her hand, showing me the one she has around her wrist. Wordlessly, I grab it and then gently turn her around so her back is to me. I take my time as I braid her blonde waves.

“You can braid?” she says softly.

“I can. One of my dad’s girlfriends taught me when I was a kid.”

Her hair is softer than I thought it would be, and I love the way it feels between my fingers. All too soon, I tie it off.

“Perfect. You ready?” I ask as she turns around to face me.

She takes a deep breath and nods as determination crosses her face. “Tell me what to do.”

I take her purse and the papers she printed and put them in my saddlebag. Then I get on my bike and hold out my hand. Kelly steps forward and places her hand in mine. She swings her leg over and gets on the bike behind me. Reaching back, I place her feet on the pegs.

“Make sure to keep your feet here so you don’t get burned.”

“Feet on the little poles. Got it.”

Next I grab her under the thighs and pull her into my back, making her squeak as she grabs on to my shoulders.

“I need you to keep your body pressed against mine. When I lean, you lean. Keep your tight little body against mine at all times.”

“Okay. What about my hands?” she asks breathlessly, making me smile.

“Wrap your arms around my waist and hold on tight, dollface. Enjoy the ride.”

I look down and watch as her arms come around my sides and stop right above my belt buckle.

Fuck me, do I like the way her hands look on me. I can’t wait to see her what her red fingernails look like as they dig into my thighs as I fuck her face. The thought has my eyes rolling into the back of my head.

Fuck me.

Checking out the properties comes first, Jax. Owning her comes second.

“You ready?” I ask as I turn on the bike.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.”

Kelly

Jax speeds up, and I gasp. I close my eyes as the wind hits my face. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would ride my bike to the top of the hill, only to ride down the hill as fast as I could just to feel the wind flow through my hair. Only now, the bike between my thighs has a motor and is operated by a man.

I open my eyes and smile as I watch the scenery blur by.

Perfection.

Everything about this moment is perfect.

I didn’t realize how badly I needed this type of freedom until now. For my entire life, I’ve always done what was expected of me. The right thing, but sometimes the right thing isn’t what we really want, let alone need.

All too soon, Jax starts to slow down and pulls into the first lot.

When he shuts off the bike, I move to get off but stop when he rests his big hand on my thigh.

“Wait for me to get off,” he says as he moves. As soon as he has both feet on the ground, he turns toward me and grabs me by the hips, picking me up off his bike, making me gasp. My legs feel like Jell-O, and he must know it because he holds onto me until I have my balance.

“So what did you think?” he asks as he starts to remove the helmet from my head.

“I loved it.”

A beautiful, breathtaking smile fills his face, and his dark brown eyes twinkle. “That’s what I like to hear.”

I duck my head and tuck a piece of hair that escaped the braid behind my ear.

Jax is one of the most attractive men I’ve ever met, and when he turns all of his attention to me, it takes everything in me not to squirm.

I clear my throat and turn toward the property. “So what do you think at first glance? It’s on the smaller side of what you wanted.”

Jax hums as he eyes the property. “The shop looks a little old, and where it only has the one building, I would need to add another.”

“But it has car lifts already,” I remind him.

“That is a bonus,” he says as we walk toward the building.

Once at the door, I type in the code into the keypad, revealing the key. I let us into the shop and turn on the lights. It looks just like it did in the listing. It’s a little bit older, but with a little bit of TLC it would be fine.

“So Kelly, tell me, do you have a boyfriend?” Jax asks as he looks around.

“Uh, no,” I say lightly. “You?”

“No, I don’t have a boyfriend either, or a girlfriend.” He winks. “I have to tell you though that it pleases me that you’re single.”

I bite the inside of my lip to stop myself from smiling. “And why’s that?”

“Because then you won’t have a reason to turn me down when I ask you out.”

I cross my arms over my chest. “You sound awfully confident in yourself.”

“That’s because I am.” He claps his hands and starts walking back toward me. “Okay, let’s head out.”

I shake my head at his change in subject. “What? That’s it? You barely looked around.”

“We both know it’s not the right one for me. You ready?”

“Yeah, just let me lock up,” I say as I rush to catch up to him.

Like a gentleman, he waits for me while I lock the door. When we get back to his bike, he puts the helmet on me and gets on. He squeezes my hand when I place mine in his as I get on.

“Good girl,” he says as he squeezes my thigh when I place my body tight against his. “What’s the address?”

I rattle off the address from memory, and he takes off. I tip my head back and rest my chin on his shoulder as the sun hits my face. All too soon, he pulls into the next property.

“Okay, so this shop is new, and it does have an open building in there that if you put up some walls, you can turn into a place to live,” I say when he shuts off the bike.

After we get off the bike, we head toward the open building first. He steps inside after I open the door.

“There is a kitchen along the back wall, and there is a bathroom in the back left corner,” I tell him.

“It’s not bad size-wise. How hard is it to add on to a building here or build up?” he asks.

“Shouldn’t be too hard as long as you find a contractor who can get you in on your timeline. What do you have in mind?” I pull out my phone to take notes.

“I would leave the kitchen where it is but reconfigure it so it made more sense. No one needs cabinets taking up most of a wall,” he says, shaking his head. “Over there, I would put up walls, making individual bedrooms, and maybe add private bathrooms with each room.”

“Who do you plan on living here with?” I blurt out.

When he told me he wanted a living space, I thought he meant just for himself and maybe his friend Gunner, but the way he talks, I have the feeling there would be more people living here. The amount of money it would cost to put in private bathrooms alone…

“My boys. Tell me, do you know anything about motorcycle clubs?”

My eyes drop to his vest before I look back at him. “Outside of the usual whispering, no, nothing. I take it you’re part of one?”

“If I am, would that be a problem?” he asks, raising a brow.

I think about his question for a moment. “As long as you were good to me and didn’t expect me to do anything I didn’t want to, no.”

“I would never ask you to do something you didn’t want to do.” There’s a promise in his tone.

“Then we would be good.” My cheeks heat as I realize I just assumed we would be something.

Jax nods and changes the subject. “Let’s check out the other shop.”

Once again, he waits for me to lock up before heading to the next building. Out of all the properties he wanted to view, this is the one I would pick. The owners have had it on the market for over a year, and it’s underpriced because they want to get rid of it.

“This one is nicer than the last,” I say as we step into the shop.

This place doesn’t have car lifts like the last, but it does have a plethora of tools. I watch as Jax picks up some silver tool and checks it out.

“So tell me, dollface, if I buy a place, do you get a commission?”

“Yeah, I would.”

Holy shit. I would get a commission. How had I not even thought of that until now?

“Good. I want to put in an offer. Full price, in cash.”

“That’s it? No concessions? No pending inspections?”

Jax shakes his head. “Nope, this is where I’ll be setting up shop.”

I lick my lips. This is it. My first sale.

“O-okay then. I guess I need to head back to the office and get to work.”

Jax walks up to me with a devilish smile on his face. His hand comes up, and he pushes my mouth closed. “No need to look so shocked. Now let’s head back. The sooner we get this done, the faster we can hang out outside of business.”
