Natalie
“One sec!”I yell to my dad as I slide my arms through the robe’s sleeves.
I tie it, then pick my headphones up off the desk and glance back out the glass doors.
Luke is halfway across the pool, disappearing into the dark, water up to his rib cage, and his glowing phone held near his head.
It’s not funny.
I bite down on my smile and pull the door open for my dad.
“Sorry.” I hold up my headphones. “I didn’t hear you right away.”
He shoves one of the glass dishes into my hands. “There’s still time.”
Glad he’s distracted by the melting dessert, I step back and let him in.
And when I turn around to follow him into the room, Luke is no longer in sight.
