40. Devon
Chapter forty
Devon
S tanding, staring at the entrance door of Cloud 9, Jaxcen hovers. She’s debating. Wondering if she should go inside. Wondering if it’s what she wants.
Just step forward, little mouse. You can do it.
As if she can hear my thoughts, she moves, opening the door and slipping in.
I grin.
Atta girl.
Sighing from the shadows across the street, I watch Eddie, the person I’m actually following, as he hurries to the door. He studies the name and business information printed on the door before he takes his phone out.
I can imagine he’s doing a search on Cloud 9, and as he stiffens, I gather he’s just realised what sort of establishment it is.
I grin again.
“Go on in, Eddie. I dare you.”
Taking the cap off his head, he rakes his fingers through his hair as if to tame it before he shoves the cap in the back pocket of his pants and enters.
I wait about thirty seconds before attempting to cross the busy street, nodding to the far corner where Lenny is standing casually wearing a disguise.
He nods back, and I open the door of the sex club, entering the darkened space.
“Welcome to Cloud 9.” A tall blonde woman wearing a gold mesh dress that leaves little to the imagination, smiles at me from behind a counter. “Are you new here or a returning guest?”
“He knows the ropes.” The deep voice comes from the side, and I turn to see Marco, club owner and an old friend. “If it isn’t the one and only devil.”
“Shut up.” I snicker as he steps up to me and we bro hug, slapping each other’s backs.
“It’s been a long time since you’ve graced us with your presence.”
I nod. “That it has. Business still good?”
“Better than ever.” He winks. “So are you here for business or pleasure?”
“Unfortunately, business.”
“Got anything to do with the blonde that walked in a few minutes ago? She’s the one you asked us to notify you about if she came here, right?”
I nod. “Yes her, but it has more to do with the guy that walked in after her.”
Marco’s dark brows shoot up. “The newbie? Nervous as fuck?”
“Yeah. That’s him. What name did he give you?”
Marco smiles at the blonde behind the counter holding his hand out, and she slips the registry book into his hand where he scans it.
“Edward Y.” He reads out and I nod.
“That’s him. Eddie York. He has a bit of an unhealthy fascination with my girl.”
Marco smirks. “Your girl, hey? If she’s your girl, then why is she here?”
“I’m a modern man, my friend.” I clap him on the shoulder, shooting him a smug grin. “If she wants to explore her sexual appetite, I’m only too happy to sit back and watch.”
Marco smirks, but his eyes narrow. “Is shit about to get messy?”
“Only if stalker Eddie touches my girl. ”
Nodding, Marco turns to the blonde. “Get Melody to put some extra security on the floor with a watch on our newbie.”
The blonde nods. “I’ll do that now, sir.”
“Thank you, Winnie.”
Marco’s eyes linger a little too long on Winnie’s arse as she turns and heads through the door behind the counter, so I give him a nudge with my shoulder.
“You know Melody will be watching you on the cameras right now.”
He smirks, glancing back at me. “I know. And how fucking amazing will her angry sex be.”
I chuckle. This man speaks my language.
“So was the newbie kitted up? Was he made aware of the rules?” I ask, glancing towards the change rooms which separate us from the main club where all the action happens.
“Yep to both. Had no idea about the mask thing. We even forced him to buy some new boxers, because man, he had granddad jocks on.”
I laugh. “He’s a religious man.”
“Fuck. I was worried about that.”
“Got a mask for me then?” I ask, and he grins. “Take whatever you need, and try not to get me shutdown tonight.”
I roll my eyes. “Would I do that?”
“Yes,” he deadpans, and I laugh all the way into the change rooms, leaving him behind.
Inside, I select a black mask, and slip out of my shirt, leaving my jeans and shoes on, since I have no intentions of getting my cock out tonight, and then I enter the main floor.
The music is loud enough to create a good atmosphere, but not so loud you have to yell to be heard. Part of the ambience is to hear the moans and slapping, after all.
I’m on the top level which opens out to a wrap-around balcony over the main floor below, and I immediately spot Eddie, shifting nervously on his feet as he takes in his surroundings.
What do you think, Eddie boy? Is this a yay or nay for you?
I snicker at my inner thoughts until I see Eddie stiffen, grip the railing and hone in on his prize.
Following his gaze, there, on the level below, I spot my little mouse, standing on the sidelines watching the orgy happening in the middle.
My cock starts to wake up for the first time in days at the sight of her in the black lingerie.
And fuck, her lips are bright red, making them appear more plump than they already are.
Fuck. Maybe I should have sent Finn to do this job.
How the fuck am I going to stay away from her?
I barely take any notice of the foursome in the centre of the room, my focus remaining on Eddie and Jaxcen, making sure I can at least see Eddie at all times.
The three of us remain in our places for quite a while. Me watching Eddie watching Jaxcen. Jaxcen watching the live porn show. Me watching her watch the live porn show.
Fuck. I want to be down there with her. I want to walk up behind her and whisper in her ear.
Just do it, little mouse. Take what you need.
Not that I like the idea of any man touching her, but fuck, I love watching her unravel, and I want her to flourish now that I’ve helped her unbind those invisible ropes that were holding her captive.
The moment Jaxcen takes a step closer to the action in the centre, the toes of those sexy fucking red heels nearly brushing the line that divides onlookers to those willing to participate, I’m about ready to leap over the railing and stop her.
I don’t need to though, because her shoulders slump, and she takes a step back. And then another. And another.
Disappointment courses through me for her . She’s seeking something and is either too scared to take it, or simply can’t reach it, and I hate that for her.
In my distraction, I’ve lost sight of Eddie, and I stiffen, my gaze darting at every onlooker up on the balcony, trying to spot him.
Shit.
He’s not up here .
It’s then that I see him, behind Jaxcen, standing in the shadows where I should fucking be.
His gaze is on her, his fists balled, his anger evident, so I start to move.
Hurrying around the balcony towards the stairs, I watch as he approaches her side, and I move faster.
My eyes meet the security detail that is slowly closing in. They can’t technically do anything unless something happens, but it’s a relief to know Marco’s men are on their game, and my little mouse has others looking out for her.
“Let’s fuck.” I hear Eddie say as I move up behind them, not wanting Jaxcen to see me unless it’s absolutely necessary.
“No, thanks,” Jaxcen mutters, her voice strange. Flat. Almost defeated.
She doesn’t look at Eddie standing next to her. She doesn’t even recognise his voice. She just remains standing, staring, at what, I don’t know.
Leaning to the side, I see a man’s belt draped over the end of the lounge, realising that’s what Jaxcen is staring at.
Is she remembering my belt? The one I used on her that night in the chapel. How I hooked it behind her head and controlled her as I fucked her mouth? Is she remembering how I used it as a cuff, to secure her ankle to the confessional so I could keep her hips elevated to ensure my cum would remain inside her?
Fuck. I bet she is remembering that.
How easy it would be for me to take her hand, lead her to the centre and give her what she craves.
“Come on. Let’s join in and fuck. That’s why you’re here, isn’t it?”
She shakes her head, still not picking up on his voice as she stares until he speaks again.
“Why not? You’re a whore, aren’t you?”
My lip curls at his words, and I’m about ready to smash this fucker to the ground when Jaxcen finally snaps out of her trance, jerking her head in his direction .
“Eddie?” There’s a tremble to her voice, and she takes a step back, closer to me.
“Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted? To fuck me? Well, here I am, you stupid whore. Let’s get this out of your system so we can get married.”
She gasps. Taking a step to the side this time, and I see her face better, her blue eyes wide behind the mask.
“Please leave me alone. I am not marrying you.”
His lip curls. “Like hell, you’re not.” He lurches forward, snatching her wrist in his tight grip and starts dragging her over the line into the centre, and just when I’m about to dive on the fucker, and unleash my devil, a strong arm wraps around me from behind.
“Just wait,” Marco rasps, and I struggle, hearing Jaxcen cry out as she tries to pull her arm free.
It’s then that six security guards are on them, three taking Eddie down, and two quickly escorting Jaxcen away to safety, while one watches on to make sure no one intervenes.
“Fuck.” I breathe out, relaxing in Marco’s hold to hear him chuckle.
“See. There’s no need for bloodshed.”
I shove him off me and turn to face the fucker. “I disagree. There should always be bloodshed.”
“Fine, just not here.”
I roll my eyes at my mate. “Whatever. Make sure she gets home, yeah?”
“You don’t even have to ask. Melody will see to that personally.”
I nod. “And him? Keep him for a bit, but don’t rough him up. Maybe give him a few drinks and send him home in a taxi in an hour.”
“Will do.” Marco smiles.
I watch as security quickly removes Eddie from the room out a side door, and I turn and leave, ready for the next part of my night.
Taking out my phone, I shoot Theodore Perelli a message, letting him know that I’m on my way, and he responds that he’ll see me soon.
In this business, it pays to have friends in low and high places. Just like at Cloud 9, my mate Marco and his wife Melody are the owners of the club, giving me the access I needed to try and protect my little mouse. And now, I meet Theo outside one of the buildings he owns, which just so happens to be directly across the street from Jaxcen’s where she now lives with her sister.
It also happens to be the building where Mr Edward York leased an apartment this week, on the fifteenth floor, with a direct view into the Summers sisters’ living and bedrooms.
Snide fucker really thinks he can get away with stalking my girl, and then trying to force her into public sex.
What a dick.
Theo meets me in the foyer and hands me an access key to Eddie’s apartment.
“You got the payment?” Theo asks, the short man looking expectantly up at me.
“Of course.” I hand him the black bag. “Five hundred large. You wanna count it?”
Theo chuckles, accepting the bag. “Nah. I trust you.”
“Be prepared for the cops to be here later.” I remind him.
“Yeah, I know. All the CCTVs are off in the area, so you’re good to go.”
We shake hands and I nod, already knowing there’s no digital eyes on us right now. I don’t trust anyone but Dom to have my back with that.
Taking the lift up, I enter Eddie’s apartment cautiously, my hands gloved so no fingerprints are left behind.
Just as expected, the windows and small balcony face Presley’s, with a telescope set up in front of the glass sliding door, angled towards her apartment.
I don’t touch anything, but a quick glance in the scope shows Jaxcen sitting at the kitchen counter, her fork picking at a salad .
I can see every line on her beautiful face.
She looks sad.
Fuck.
I hate that she’s sad.
I want to go to her but I can’t. It’s too risky, and she deserves better.
My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I pull it out to see a message from Lenny telling me that Eddie’s taxi is pulling up outside the apartment building now.
Good.
Time to get this over with.
Stepping forward, I unlatch the lock on the glass sliding door and ease it open as wide as it can go before shifting the telescope onto the dark balcony, and realigning the scope to see inside Presley’s apartment again.
When it’s in place, I move back inside to the far corner and wait in the dark.
Only a few minutes pass before the apartment door clicks open, and the heavy feet of a man rushes in, muttering under his breath.
His dark silhouette comes into view as he steps into the main living area, his feet halting as the loud city noises float in from the open balcony door.
“What the hell?”
He rushes forward, standing in the open door and scratching his head, before he turns and gazes back inside, his eyes looking directly at me for a brief moment.
He can’t see me. I’m shrouded in shadows, and as he turns back and shrugs, I gather the idiot thinks maybe he left his apartment like this. Either that or he doesn’t think too much about anything, which is also a possibility.
Turning back to the city beyond his balcony, he steps up to the telescope and glances into the lens.
“You fucking whore. I’ll get you. And when I do I’ll make you wish you never went to that fucking place.”
Red rims my vision as I glare at the back of his head, watching him watch what’s mine.
With a level of stealth that can only be learned, I move from the corner towards Eddie, my gun raised and ready in case he turns around.
He doesn’t. I move up right behind him and press the barrel of my Glock to the back of his head.
“You like perving on innocent women?” I ask and Eddie stiffens as he registers my words and the gun.
“Wha— Who…”
“Who I am doesn’t fucking matter to you,” I snarl, keeping my voice deep and quiet. “But, the what am I doing is obvious, don’t you think?”
“I… Is it money? I don’t have much. There’s a couple of hundred in my pocket.” He starts to sob, and I roll my eyes.
Fucking pussy. Doesn’t even have the balls to put up a fight. I shove my barrel hard against his head, and he cries out.
“Please don’t kill me.”
“Tell me about the woman you are watching through the telescope,” I demand.
“H-her name is J-Jaxcen. She’s my fiancé.”
“Wrong,” I hiss, pressing the barrel harder against him, making him whimper. “She’s not your fiancé, Eddie. She’ll never marry you.”
“Oh my god. You’re him, aren’t you. The man from the phone… with her.”
“I am the devil, Eddie. And you are nothing but a waste of oxygen.”
“P-Please. I’ll leave her alone. I swear.”
I chuckle darkly. “No, you won’t. But that’s okay. You won’t be around to harass her anymore.”
“But. I…”
“Shut the fuck up!” I snap a little too loud. “Look in the telescope again, Eddie. Have one last look at the woman you’ll never get to have.”
“N-no, p-please.”
“Do it or I’ll pull the trigger.”
“F-fine.” He sobs, leaning closer to the telescope.
I don’t bother with the trigger. That will draw too much attention, and quite frankly, I want him even more terrified for the final seconds of his life.
With my gloved hand, I fist the back of his shirt and shove him and the telescope over the balcony railing.
He cries out, screaming all the way down, because he knows there’s no coming back from this.
The moment his scream cuts off, I know he’s hit pavement, so I slink back inside and leave his apartment, taking the lift back down where I disappear into the night, even as police sirens fill the city streets.
Eddie won't be a problem anymore.
