CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

TYSON

S till shirtless, with my slacks riding low on my hips, I slowly paced back and forth with my tail dragging behind me. My Wiggles sat cross-legged on Og's table. Her long, wet hair left a damp spot down Og's cherry blossom pj shirt. Wads of yellow paper surrounded her. The Dirt Lover and Spawning Salmon sat below her on the limited seating choices. The three ‘spoke' as if we hadn't just shared an unspeakable moment.

Rehan sighed. "Tukaqu believes the problem is not on our side of the shield. But, if there's something fundamentally wrong with the Ley Lines, staying isolated won't matter. Everything's connected."

"Jay said a Ley Line reached out to her before her car accident," Og added. "And if it's calling on the big guns of the world, something is definitely very wrong." He cleared his throat. "Is it possible the Ley Line wanted you on our island?"

The sound of Jay's scribbling her answer filled the cave.

I whipped my tail up and brought my spikes down on Og's smooth floor, denting it. The sound echoed, making me the center of attention. "If she even is one of the big guns." I glared at Wiggles. I'd known someone would fuck her while she blew me, but taking the shirt off my face and seeing Rehan still inside her was a different story. I didn't know where to start with Og's head inches away from Rehan's nut sack. At least his pants had still been on.

"She is," Og stated as if it was just a fact of life.

I growled, not doubting Wiggles but pissed in general.

When all three of us touched her, our mate marks didn't protect her anymore. Dragons didn't share. I didn't share. But Rehan's weight driving her lips further down my shaft had awakened pleasure deep in me—a primal need to be the one controlling our speed next time. What would it feel like to have Og sucking my balls while I buried myself in Wiggles?

Feck, I was getting hard again, definitely not thinking of Og. This was all Wiggles. Maybe the situation.

I stabbed Og's floor with my tail again to keep my dick from springing back to life and turned back to my pacing. I shouldn't want anything to do with any of this.

Rehan and Og continued to ask Wiggles questions, and the sound of her stupid pencil scraping on paper grated my nerves. What was I doing just pacing in earth territory?

I reached for my phone, only to remember I'd destroyed it. Annoyance and relief made me growl. For the last few days, I'd been dodging my family. My busted phone fixed that problem, but even if I had my device, who would I contact to fix this?

Wiggle's adorable laugh tinkled out of her, and I turned mid-pace, taking in her flushed cheeks and the way her breasts peeked out of the shirt. I'd known I loved those breasts when I'd bathed her our first night. Feeling them on my face almost made me cum right then and there.

I licked my lips and resumed my pacing. Wiggles needed access to her phone and a red shirt. Green wasn't her color. I could give her all of that in my penthouse, except I couldn't really. My family would be giving her those things. The people I'd lied to and avoided for days because there was no way they would accept her.

My family picked my friends. They set me up with Tia, who had been the focal point of my social life. Did I have a single friend who wasn't tied to my sire? An odd emptiness opened in my chest.

Og laughed, making my Wiggles giggle again. I glared at the trio, suddenly feeling left out, but banished the thought. I was a dragon, a fire prince. These weren't my friends, but my competition.

Feck this. "Wiggles, we're leaving!"

Og's laughter cut off, and both dragons shot to their feet.

Rehan crossed his arms over his chest. "She's not leaving with you."

I mimicked his posture. "Well, she's not going with you."

Og smiled. "She can stay here."

"No," Rehan and I snapped at the same time.

Wiggles rolled her eyes, put the back of her hand to her forehead, and dramatically lay back on the table.

"Besides." Og put his hands on his hips. "We still need to get another layer of the curse off her."

I scowled. "Not until she finds her fourth."

Og's jaw dropped. "What?"

"Do you think I fecking enjoyed this?" I demanded, my pulse quickening at even the thought of sharing her again. "Sharing is not what dragons do!" I shouted, trying to ignore my body's response. "One orgy with too many sausages, and then she picks." My dick twitched happily, and I wished I could punch it.

Today had not been hot!

Wiggles sat up from her dramatic fall to study me. Although she couldn't talk, I swear her gaze cut right through my bravado. The slightest bit of heat warmed my face. "I'm not fecking repeating it!" I stomped my foot and pulled on my mate mark. "Wiggles, now."

Wiggles blinked her wide green eyes at me and didn't budge.

Og gritted his teeth. "Don't use the mate mark like that. I will cut you off every time."

I snarled but stopped pulling as it wasn't doing anything. The Dirt Mole couldn't guard her every moment of every day.

I threw my hands into the air. "Feck, fine. Where's she staying if not with any of us?"

Og gestured toward his cave entrance. "She can stay in the community house."

"Nope." I popped the ‘P.' "Still earth territory."

Rehan groaned and scowled. "She still needs to find her air dragon."

"We should hold another hunt." I tucked away my broken phone.

Og shook his head. "The logistics and complication of a Hunt is not something you've considered."

I scowled. "I'm not sharing her with any but the best. Even if it's only the one time to unlock her magic." I looked hard at my girl. "You will not doubt I'm the best by the end." I poked my chest. "You will choose me."

Wiggles blinked before she snorted. I didn't say it to make her laugh, but her disbelief would only make the truth sweeter.

"She found us through The Hunt." Rehan scratched his stubble. "And Og, you said you felt a pull toward the volcano minutes before it exploded. Was it her?"

"I don't think it was her. When I saw Jay at the Social, I couldn't take my eyes off her, and once I smelled her, my dragon thought of nothing else." Og frowned. "The eruption had nothing to do with Jay, I believe. However, the earth dragons are investigating an unknown force which caused a spike in our shield at the same time. I think it was that force drawing me toward the mountain." He gazed at Wiggles like she was the only one who existed in the world. "But if it was your curse, I'm glad of it."

I groaned. "Sappy Tree."

Wiggles giggled and shared a smile with me before her face fell, and she scribbled on her pad. ‘Did the volcano feel like the same energy as the cave with the little island in it?'

Og shrugged. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Rehan grunted.

I scoffed. "Rehan's trick. Nothing more."

Wiggles frowned and wrote: ‘Not true. Someone else was there.'

I froze. Why would she write that? Did Rehan put something in her mind to scare her into needing him?

"What I felt before the eruption might have been a single force." Og chewed on his bottom lip. "This will sound crazy, but it felt like someone was in our flow. Like a consciousness that didn't belong on the island."

Wiggles paled, and my stomach sank. "Stop letting them scare you, Wiggles. There's nothing on this island that isn't supposed to be here."

"Squeak," Wiggles said, pointing at herself.

"Maybe you're supposed to be here too," I said. Not willing to be wrong. "If the eruption had nothing to do with Wiggles, then neither does this thing that pulled Og toward the mountain. Or whatever story you made up about the cave." I stood straighter and looked down at Ogden. "It was chance you found her, and we won't leave this up to chance again." I pinned Wiggles with my gaze. "I will find you the best dragon. Until then, you can remain with the air priestesses."

Before Rehan or Og said another word, I bolted forward. Shoulder checking Rehan, I whipped Og's knees with my tail, and the smaller dragon went down. I grabbed my mate, pulling her into my chest before lighting Og's table and chair on fire and throwing up a wall of heat behind me.

I gripped Wiggles hard, expecting a struggle, but she wrapped her arms around my neck, and my confidence swelled. I hit the night air at a full sprint. A little girl let out a scream, drawing the attention of a few other earth dragons exiting a sizeable wood building five hundred meters in front of me. I ignored all of them. My wings tore out my back, and I launched myself into the sky, beating the air with all my strength. I don't know if I was lucky or if the earth dragons picked this area because of the air currents, but I found a draft and soared up.

Rehan shot out of the cave with Og on his heels. Although the Water Toad shifted immediately, Og slowed to deal with his people.

I grinned. "Just me and you again, Water Loser."

Rehan roared, a sound half human half dragon, as he shifted. He'd easily catch me as a dragon, but he couldn't do shite without risking Wiggles. I squeezed my mate to my chest and rubbed her forehead with my cheek.

"I don't like that they know you better than I do," I whispered, half hoping Wiggles didn't hear me. "Especially Ogden. You just met him."

She rubbed my chest and adjusted her grip around my neck.

My heart melted. "Feck. I wish you could talk."

She tapped my collarbone. "Squeak."

I smiled at her. "You too, huh?"

Rehan circled me, making a big show with his blue flames. I angled toward fire territory, watching Rehan's dragon toes twitch in frustration. As badly as I wanted her with me, and not that I would ever tell Rehan or Og, she would be safer away from my family.

They didn't have her best interest at heart.

Did they have mine?

I took a deep breath. With a final look toward my home, I banked in the opposite direction. Rehan roared his blue flame into the air and attempted to herd me away from air territory, but I put Wiggles between us and kept flying.

"The air priestesses will keep you safe." I swallowed, not understanding or liking the weird feeling creeping into my gut. It reminded me of when I was little and couldn't shift.

Wiggles pushed away from my chest to squeak indignantly in my face.

"Look, it's either this, or we set you loose in air territory. And we all know how that went in earth." I pinched the skin on the side of her leg where I was holding her. "Og's a squirt for a dragon. He might still look big to you, but he's not up to snuff."

She scowled at me and crossed her arms, elbowing me in the ribs.

I let out an oof. "Fine, maybe he's useful," I admitted. "He's good at blocking my mate mark anyway, and if he's blocking mine, then he's definitely blocking Shark Biscuit."

Wiggles rolled her eyes but smiled. She might not like my nicknames for her other mates, but they made her smile, which made me smile. A warmth that had nothing to do with my fire filled my heart.
