24. Mac

CHAPTER 24

MAC

There must have been something in the air. Something that had overcome all his sensibilities. That was the best Mac could come up with for spending all night shooting Drew coy glances and subtly flirting with his best friend.

They stepped into the elevator and each took a side, tucking their hands behind them as they stared at one another.

"What the hell, Mac?" Drew finally said.

"I'm sorry," Mac groaned. "I don't know what came over me. Maybe it was hearing the two of you talking, hearing Lee say how much he likes both of us."

"Are you saying you'd be open to him being with both of us?"

Was he? Mac nibbled on his bottom lip as he thought about that. Not that he had to think too hard… He'd only had about a thousand and one fantasies about being the filling in the hard-body sandwich between Drew and Lee. Most of them had been with him taking charge in the bedroom. He was more than ready to let his dominant freak flag fly.

Drew made a noise and Mac snapped his head up to meet his gaze. "What?"

"You…" Drew mewled. "Fuck, you don't know what you do to me when you do that." The elevator doors opened, and Drew stepped out into the foyer of the building.

Mac followed close behind him. "Sorry?"

Drew shook his head. "Don't be."

Even with his back to Mac, he could tell Drew was adjusting himself. Mac glanced around and did the same. He'd sported a semi all through dinner and doubted he'd lose it until he got home, got into bed, and got a hand on his dick.

Slowly, Drew turned to face him, and after drawing in a deep breath, he said, "I think we're on the same page. We both crave Lee, but I refuse to lose what we have." Mac nodded quickly, maintaining eye contact with Drew. "I guess my next question then is what are we going to do about it?"

"Will it work… do you think… the three of us? Especially when it didn't when it was just you and me." Mac's heart raced with equal parts excitement, anticipation, and cold-hard dread. Just like Drew, he refused to fuck up their friendship. If either of them pursued and won Lee's affection alone, the other would suffer. Jealousy looked good on no one.

"I fucking hope so, and as much as I'm dying to recreate our first kiss—which will be a million times better than that one—I want to wait…"

"For Lee?" Mac reached a hand across the small divide between them.

Drew took Mac's hand between both of his and nodded. "For Lee."

Mac blew out a short breath. "Okay."

Drew smiled, big and blinding, and just like every one of Mac's dreams come true where all of his best friend's smiles were directed at him. "Okay."

"So," Mac drawled, "what are we going to do about it?"

"I have no idea…" Drew let go and clarified, "Yet. I'm going to go, and I'll text you if I think of something that might change Lee's mind to sooner rather than later. You do the same."

"I will. Promise. Have a good rest of your night." And if there was any innuendo in that, Mac let it lie.

Drew laughed. "You too. See ya, bestie."

"Night. Later, gator." Mac waved and watched Drew push through the doors of the foyer. When the door closed and he was still standing stock still, it was his own stunned reflection he stared at. He drew in a few slow breaths as everything that had happened over the last few hours tumbled on repeat in his mind.

His eyes widened as another realization hit. "Holy shit…" I'm officially unofficially in a throuple with my best friend and a professional football player.

Hot on that thought, Mac's phone pinged with a text from Drew.

I have an idea.
