Epilogue
EPILOGUE
One Month Later…
I t was finally over, Logan thought as he stood there, slowly exhaling as he closed his eyes and-
“She’s going to rip your throat out,” came the softly whispered warning that had him going still as he glanced to his left to find a pair of angry red eyes watching his every move.
Swallowing hard, Logan moved to finish fixing his tie only to rethink that decision when Madison’s eyes narrowed dangerously on the move. Deciding against making any sudden movements, he slowly dropped his hands away, noting the way the Pyte watched the move.
When she was satisfied that he wasn’t going to do anything to mess with the tuxedo that had taken her two weeks to find, Madison released a satisfied sigh as she adjusted the bouquet of white roses in her arms and took in the rest of the large dining hall they’d turned into a wedding chapel, ensuring that everything was perfect.
For the past month, Logan had been waiting for this moment, desperate to finally have his mate back in his arms after her father demanded that they do this right, which apparently meant sleeping in the twin’s room and having his every move watched until they were married. Every time he tried to sneak out of his room to see her, Ephraim and Chris were waiting for him with anticipatory smiles. They couldn’t beat the shit out of him without hurting Jill, but that didn’t stop them from doing whatever it took to annoy the shit out of him.
He’d eventually resigned himself to stolen kisses throughout the day while he kept himself busy trying to find Tomas and making sure that his family was safe. He spent most of his time with his children, helping them with their schoolwork, giving them extra cookies to go tell their mother how much he loved her, building a nursery with Kale’s help, and annoying the shit out of her father and brother every chance he got.
And Jill…
Christ, he’d never seen her happier than he had over the past month. Every day, she smiled and laughed more, teasing her brothers, spending time with Madison and with all the children in the house. She was so good with the children. She was…
The love of his life.
The children were thriving. Shane and Marc had quickly become best friends and shared a room. Emma and Caleb moved into their own room and had managed to wrap every adult in the house around their little fingers. He-
“What is he doing?” Shane asked, drawing Logan’s attention to find Caleb shoving the heavy door at the end of the large dining room open, looking adorably pissed in his little tuxedo as the sounds of shouting reached them before becoming muffled when the door swung shut behind him.
With a glare aimed back at the door, Caleb shoved the silk pillow that Madison gave him beneath his arm with a grumble and stormed down the aisle towards them, earning chuckles as he went. When he reached them, he shoved the pillow in his brother’s arms before raising his arms in silent demand, making Logan’s lips twitch as he reached down and dutifully picked his son up, careful of the black suit that Madison picked out for him, knowing the Pyte that would kill him if he did anything to ruin the wedding.
Once Caleb was in his arms, he laid his head down on Logan’s shoulder with a long-suffering sigh and a muttered, “Kissy.”
Chuckling, Logan kissed the top of his son’s head as he asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Grandpa and Uncle Chris won’t stop arguing over who gets to walk Mommy down the aisle.”
“That’s because they love your mommy very much,” Logan explained.
“Ephraim is winning,” Kale said, sounding amused as he put those new skills of his to use.
When Emma stepped into the large dining hall that had been turned into a wedding chapel a few minutes later and saw everyone waiting, she swallowed hard, hugged the basket filled with white rose petals against her chest and promptly made a run for it. That was followed by Shane muttering, “Damn it,” and running after his little sister before she could make it to the backdoor.
Once he had her in his arms, Shane carried her back to the doors, kissed her forehead and held the basket up for her so that she could sprinkle the rose petals as he carried her down the aisle. When they reached him, Shane went to put her down only to have Emma shake her head and tighten her hold around him, that is, until Madison held her arms out to her with a warm smile. Then, his baby girl couldn’t seem to get out of her brother’s arms fast enough so that she could run the short distance and climb onto Madison’s lap.
Madison adored their children, spoiled them every time she thought they weren’t looking, and bragged about her grandchildren every chance she got and fucking glared whenever anyone tried to come between them and the children absolutely adored her.
“Who’s winning?” Logan asked, kissing the top of his son’s head as he glanced back at the doors.
“Not who you think,” Kale drawled, his lips twitching as the doors were opened and Danni, wearing a soft rose dress, began to make her way down the aisle followed by Kara, Izzy, who was carrying her newborn son in her arms, Charlie, Cloe, and-
“Beautiful,” Kale whispered reverently when Ashley stepped into the ballroom and Logan couldn’t agree more as his gaze locked on Jill as she followed her inside. He released a shaky breath as he watched her, absently noting that Marc had won the argument as he walked his big sister down the aisle with Ephraim and Chris following close behind, glaring at each other every step of the way and-
He couldn’t take his eyes off her.
She was more than he could have ever hoped for. She was everything that he wanted and more. Somehow, he resisted the urge to go to her when all he wanted to do was take her back in his arms and never let her go. As soon as she reached him, Logan found himself whispering, “Angel,” as he shifted Caleb to one arm so that he could reach over and take her hand in his. He raised their hands and kissed the back of her hand, watching as her eyes turned silver.
“I think he fell asleep,” Jill whispered with a teasing smile as she leaned over and kissed Caleb’s cheek.
“Poor thing was so excited that he couldn’t sleep last night,” Logan said, watching as Chris moved to take Caleb out of his arms only to end up glaring when Ephraim beat him to it.
With a smug look, Ephraim shifted the boy in his arms as he kissed the top of Caleb’s head. Jaw clenched, Chris sent his father one last glare before making his way to the row of playpens lined up along the makeshift altar so that he could stand by the rest of his children and baby brothers before he shifted that glare back to Logan.
Taking Jill’s other hand in his, Logan laced his fingers with hers as he ducked his head and brushed his lips against hers. “I don’t think we got to that part yet,” Jill whispered with a teasing smile.
“I couldn’t resist,” Logan admitted.
“Try,” Ephraim bit out coldly, making Jill smile.
He barely heard the priest’s words as he thought about how long he’d waited for this moment and knew without a doubt that she’d been worth the wait.
