Chapter 34
CHAPTER 34
“ I ’m not going to run,” Jill said, only to bite back a sigh when Logan said, “I’m not going to give you a chance, Angel.”
“Believe it or not, I’m not an idiot. I know what’s waiting for me outside this building,” she said, tracing a circle over his chest.
“And what’s that, Angel?” Logan asked as she drew one last circle on his chest before dropping her hand away.
“Things that I’d rather not think about,” Jill said as she thought about all of those things that she’d learned about the time that her father spent in Nichols’ dungeon. He’d been tortured in every way imaginable. It was something that she didn’t like to think about, never mind imagine experiencing first-hand. The difference was that her father was a Pyte and could survive anything and she…wouldn’t.
She also wouldn’t be able to protect the children the way that Logan could and there was no doubt in her mind now that he planned on doing whatever it took to keep them safe.
She just…
She’d never planned on asking her father to change her, prayed that he wouldn’t try, but now that she could potentially live forever, she needed to start figuring out what that meant for her.
In order to do that, she needed to figure something out, which meant…
“I’m ready to collect my prize,” Jill said with a heartfelt sigh as though it pained her to do this.
“And what prize would that be?” Logan asked, reaching up to run his fingertips along her jaw.
“The one that I am now owed for proving my theory correct,” Jill said with a nod, making him frown.
“You didn’t prove anything, Angel. You just pretended that you knew what you were talking about with the hopes of getting me to correct you before you wrapped it all up into an asinine theory,” Logan pointed out.
“Sure. We could look at it that way if it makes you feel better about losing,” Jill said with a pitying look that had his eyes narrowing on her.
“I believe that I won this round, Angel,” Logan said, which was sad really.
“And how do you figure that?” Jill asked as she ran her eyes over him one more time, looking for any signs that she was wrong about this.
“Besides the fact that you had to resort to manipulating me to get answers?”
“Besides that,” Jill murmured absently as she went back to running her fingertips over his chest, once again wondering if she was really going to be able to do this.
“That should be enough,” Logan pointed out.
With a solemn nod, Jill said, “You know what? You’re right,” as she turned her head and gestured to her throat. “Be gentle.”
“What are you doing?” came the curious question that had her really wishing that he’d get this over with.
“Taking pity on you,” Jill said, settling her hands on his chest and-
Softly sighed when she felt Logan’s lips press against her throat.
“That’s very generous of you, Angel,” Logan murmured, pressing another kiss against her throat while his hands slid over her thighs. “There’s just one problem with that.”
“And what’s that?” Jill asked, unable to help but moan when she felt his lips slowly kiss a trail up her throat.
“When I said that I wanted another taste,” Logan said, pausing long enough to kiss her chin, “I wasn’t talking about your blood.”
“Then, what-” Jill began, only to release a soft moan when Logan took her by surprise and brushed his lips against hers.
“This,” Logan whispered against her lips as he gently cupped her face with his fingertips. He took his time moving his lips against hers with teasing brushes, giving her a chance to stop this, but the problem was, she didn’t want to stop and that absolutely terrified her.
When he released a groan, Jill slid her arms around his shoulders as she tentatively moved her lips against his. It had been a long time since she’d kissed a man, longer since she wanted to, and now that she was in Logan’s arms, she realized just how nervous she really was. She-
“Angel.”
-felt herself relax when he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. It felt so good to be in his arms. Better than she remembered, but this time, she wasn’t struggling to keep it together, hoping for an escape from old memories threatening to swallow her whole. This time she wasn’t running from anything, Jill thought, releasing a soft moan as she allowed herself to lose herself in his arms.
She just wanted this moment.
She just wanted him, Jill realized when Logan deepened the kiss. As he moved his lips against hers, she threaded her fingers through his hair as she moved closer until her breasts were pressed against his chest and-
Oh, god…
Her fangs slowly ripped through her gums on a soft moan. He kept brushing his lips against hers once, twice, and then, he was pulling away so that he could kiss her chin.
“Absolutely fucking destroying me,” Logan said, giving her no choice but to drop her head back as he kissed his way down her throat.
She moaned softly as he took his time teasing her with gentle brushes of his lips while she sat there, struggling to stay focused. She needed to know, Jill reminded herself as she slowly exhaled, telling herself that she could do this. She-
“What was your prize?” Logan asked, pressing one last kiss against her throat before he pressed his forehead against hers.
Releasing a shaky breath, Jill said, “An answer.”
“Ask me,” Logan said, pulling away so that he could press his lips against her forehead.
Telling herself that she needed to know, Jill forced the words out of her mouth. “What would happen if I drank your blood?”
She felt him go still before he sat back, his silver eyes searching hers as she swiped her tongue over her fangs, sending them back. “Are you sure you want to find out, Angel?” Logan asked, running his fingertips down her throat.
“Not even a little bit,” Jill said, making his lips twitch.
“Fair enough,” Logan said, watching her for a moment before adding, “You won’t be able to heal without my blood.”
“Why is that exactly?” Jill asked as she thought about her transition, the fact that he could drink her blood without a problem and that he couldn’t heal without it and wondered what else she’d missed.
“Something went wrong with your transition,” Logan said, running his fingertips the rest of the way down her throat before dropping his hand away so that he could wrap his arms around her.
“That’s an understatement,” Jill said, making his lips twitch. “But that doesn’t explain how you knew that you could safely consume my blood.”
“No, it doesn’t, does it?” Logan drawled, watching her curiously.
“What else aren’t you telling me?” Jill asked even as she told herself that this was a bad idea.
“Many things,” he said on a bored sigh. “Are you going to find out for yourself, Angel?”
“I’m debating it,” Jill admitted as her gaze shifted to his neck.
“The choice is yours, Angel,” Logan said, leaning in to brush his lips against hers once, twice, and then, he kissed his way back down her throat as his hands slid over the small of her back.
“It’s a bad idea,” Jill said, mostly to herself as her head dropped back on a moan.
“It really is,” Logan murmured in agreement against her throat.
“I’d rather keep manipulating you for answers,” she admitted, loving the sound of his chuckle as he pressed another kiss against her throat.
“Should I pretend to be completely oblivious so that you can wrap me around your little finger?” Logan teased, making her smile only to make her moan as he kissed a path back up her throat.
“It does seem like the polite thing to do,” Jill said, dropping her head back when he reached her chin so that the next brush of his lips was against hers.
They shouldn’t be doing this, Jill told herself, but even knowing that couldn’t stop her from moaning softly the next time that he brushed his lips against hers. Drinking his blood would be a bad idea. There was so much that he wasn’t telling her, she reminded herself when he moved his lips more firmly against hers.
She was smarter than this, Jill told herself when he deepened the kiss.
God, she knew better, she told herself when he used his lips to part hers and-
This was such a bad idea, Jill reminded herself when she felt his tongue slide against hers. This was…
Everything she needed.
She tentatively slid her tongue against his, earning an incredibly sexy groan as her fangs slid back down and couldn’t help but moan when several drops of something incredibly decadent touched her tongue as an intoxicating aroma teased her. It was so good, Jill thought as she moved her tongue over his only to moan loudly when she was rewarded with several more drops of-
His blood.
She’d nicked his tongue with her fang, Jill realized when several drops coated her tongue. It was nothing like the thick, metallic liquid that she forced herself to drink every day. It was so good, Jill thought, unable to resist running her tongue against his again only to moan when a soft, tingling sensation spread over her tongue and down her throat before spreading throughout her body, leaving a comforting warmth behind that settled in her belly.
Pleasure quickly followed, racing down her spine as she slid her tongue over his before gently suckling on it and tearing a growl from Logan as his hands fisted her dress that left her desperate for more. She continued suckling on his tongue until the nick healed and Logan pulled his tongue away only to wince when she felt a pinch on her tongue seconds later.
Before she could wonder about that, Logan was sliding his tongue back against hers and-
It was so good, Jill thought, unable to help but moan when his blood coated her tongue again. The pleasure…god, it was like nothing that she’d ever experienced before. She began gently suckling on his tongue again, unable to get enough. Logan moaned as he released his hold on her dress so that he could run his hands over her back, encouraging her to keep suckling.
She moved closer only to moan when the move caused her to settle on his lap and-
Moaned around his tongue when she felt the large, hard bulge between his legs pressing against her. After a slight hesitation, she shifted on Logan’s lap only to moan when another wave of pleasure tore through her. Curious, Jill shifted again, tearing a groan from Logan as she suckled on his tongue one last time before she pulled back and-
“Angel,” Logan groaned, taking her mouth in another hungry kiss as he grabbed hold of her hips and gently moved her over his lap.
God, it felt so good, Jill thought, pressing down against him, needing more, and nearly sighed with relief when she realized that she was finally-
“We found the tunnel.”
