Cassidy Three Years-and-Nine-Months Ago

I had paced and tried to remain calm all day. It was almost impossible. By the time we went to the doctor’s office for our appointment, I was ready to have a nervous breakdown. It had been four days since I took the first test at home. The one that said I was pregnant. This visit was to confirm with a blood test whether it was true. I kept psyching myself out with thoughts that the four home tests I took were all false positives. If they were, I don’t know what I’d do.

The first few months back from Florida were filled with Sean and me moving in together. He suggested I live with him in his apartment until we found a house together. We had my family home, but it just didn’t feel right to me to live there. Luckily, we’d found one we both loved relatively fast. Then it was waiting to be able to move in, packing, and all that. I’d also left my job and returned to Dark Patriots in that timeframe.

On top of that, Sean and I had gotten married. We didn’t see a reason for a long engagement. We’d waited long enough. We had a small ceremony in the backyard at my family home. I cried as Gabe and Griffin walked me down the makeshift aisle. I hated that Mark wasn’t there to do it. The guys understood my tears and didn’t take it personally. Those we were closest to at the office and Griffin’s parents and friends attended. We kept it small and simple, the way we both wanted it.

As soon as we got that out of the way, our thoughts turned to starting a family. We knew we were taking on a lot in less than a year, but we weren’t your typical couple still learning about each other. We knew what we wanted, and kids were something we desired as soon as possible. I threw away my birth control four months after we returned home. Each month, we waited to see if I’d have a period. The first couple of periods made me cry. Sean kept telling me it would happen. Last month, I thought I was, but I had one, although it was lighter than usual. I figured it was due to not being on birth control and my body still adjusting. When I didn’t have one this month, I had to take a test. When I saw that positive, I cried.

I’d found a highly recommended doctor and thought I would like him. Sean was less than convinced. His objection was the fact the doctor was a man. He claimed no one, but he needed to be seeing his wife’s pussy. I ignored his muttering.

That was how we found ourselves sitting in an examination room, waiting for Dr. Maggio to see us. His nurse had taken blood and urine. I was chewing on my thumbnail.

Sean took it out of my mouth. “Babe, stop. You’re almost to the point of bleeding. If, for some reason, it isn’t positive, we’ll just go home, get naked, and try over and over. I will get you pregnant, I swear.” He gave me a leer as he said it. I giggled at him.

“That sounds like a plan,” a man’s voice said, causing us to jump. We hadn’t heard him knock or open the door. Standing by the door was a middle-aged man, smiling as he held out his hand.

“Hello, sorry about that. I’m Dr. Maggio, and you’re Sean and Cassidy Walterson, correct?”

“Yes, that’s right,” Sean said as he shook his hand, and then I did.

“Whew, thank goodness. Otherwise, it would’ve been awkward if I had the wrong room and said this to you. Congratulations, you’re pregnant. Feel free to go home and have sex if you want, but there’s no need to do it other than for fun,” Dr. Maggio said with a wink.

We both gaped at him, and then Sean let out a loud whoop, lifted me out of the chair, and swung me around. The tears let loose as I hugged him and absorbed the news. We were going to be parents. I was getting my final dream. Dr. Maggio let us celebrate for a few minutes before he got down to business. By the time we left that appointment, I knew there was no one I wanted taking care of me and our baby than him. Sean agreed.

On the way home, we called Gabe and Griffin and asked them to come for dinner. We’d give them the great news. The only damper on my happiness, which lasted only a few minutes, was that Mark and Dad weren’t here to celebrate with us. But I knew they were watching us and were thrilled.

As we pulled into the driveway, and Sean gave me that sexy smirk of his, I knew what we’d be doing until the guys came. I guess we’d be having sex for pleasure, not to knock me up, just as Dr. Maggio had joked. It had been a long and challenging road, but we made it. Sean had redeemed himself in both our eyes, and God willing, there were years and years ahead of us enjoying each other and our family.
