38. Foretelling the Future

But that didn't mean Sarah gave up doing her tarot card readings.

The community she'd founded online was indeed important to her, and so twice a week, she dressed up as Madam Belova, summoned her spooky voice, and made up stuff about the tarot cards.

The next week, when she was reading the cards for Lindsay over in Peoria, California, the door to her social media studio creaked open.

Sarah dared not look at it because Lindsay was deep in the middle of the story about her fairy spiritual guide, a thing that Sarah had never heard of but was doing her best to look interested in.

Behind her, the studio door's lock clicked.

Lindsay said on the computer screen in the center of her dazzling ring light array, "And then I followed the ray of light on the beach, and I found a seashell that my fairy spiritual guide had certainly left for me."

"Uh huh, that sounds about right," Sarah said.

Her table bobbled under her hands, jiggling the camera in the center of the ring-light array. One of the tarot cards slipped sideways.

"Was that an earthquake? Are you okay?" Lindsay exclaimed.

Oh, right, California."No, we don't have earthquakes here."

Blaze's black trail-running shoe was disappearing under the organza tablecloth when she looked over the edge of the table.

And then his hand was running up the inside of her leg.

Sarah sat up straight in her chair, feeling her eyes wide on her face.

She kicked at him with her bare feet.

Blaze caught her ankle in a vise-like grip, and his dark chuckle vibrated through the table. "Hold still, little kitten."

Oh no, he wouldn't—

The heat of his mouth started at her ankle, trailed up her calf, and then warmed the inside of her thigh, easing the center of her lacy panties aside as his tongue slicked over the sensitive skin between her legs.

"What do the cards say about the seashell?" Lindsay asked.

Sarah gripped the tarot card deck so tightly that the edges chewed into the flesh of her fingers as Blaze's warm tongue slipped between her folds, and he began to lick and suck her in earnest. "Well, the crown card here definitely has an influence on that. And it's the five of cups, so it—so it—oh, Lord."

"Madame Belova, are you all right? You look like you're getting a visitation from the spirit world!"

Sarah bit her lip and tried to breathe through her nose, but the world was wavering at the edges of her vision. "Oh yes, oh God, I'm definitely getting a visitation."

"Is it intense?"

"Oh, it's getting pretty intense, all right." Sarah grasped the edge of the table, fighting not to cry out as Blaze buried his entire face between her legs and his tongue slipped inside her. "Maybe we should postpone the rest of this reading?"

"Oh, no! Please let me stay. It's such an honor to be in the presence of the spirits when they are so intimate with you!"

Sarah slipped down in her chair as Blaze grabbed her hips, rocking them forward. "Yes, oh God yes, they are definitely getting intimate with me. I think we need to postpone this tarot card reading!"

She slapped at the computer, trying to break the video call connection but accidentally turned up the volume.

Blaze replaced his tongue with his fingers inside her, curling them up against that so-sensitive place deep inside her, and he trilled his tongue over her clit.

She nearly flew out of her chair and yet sank into the earth at the same time as waves of ecstasy rolled up her body, and her head dropped back to the back of her chair.

Lindsay cried out, "Are the spirits taking you?"

Sarah's shrieks caught in her throat, and she swallowed them down as the pulses ran through her body, squeezing her from the inside out until she practically lost consciousness.

Sarah was lying in her chair afterward, limp as a pile over overcooked spaghetti with Blaze chuckling under the table, when Lindsay asked, "Do the spirits have a message for me?"

"They had a message for me," Sarah said, panting. "I'm definitely marrying that man next week."
