Epilogue
I t was practically sunrise by the time they got back to the house. New Year's Day was one of recovery but mostly gratitude.
Rachael invited Salvatore to join them for brunch when she discovered he was only in Italy for one more semester and then planned to move back to New York for a teaching position at Columbia University in New York.
Randy and Jordan were already making plans for Jordan's next trip to New York, when he would meet with Nina to discuss the new project.
Richard confessed that he had been jealous of Jordan. He also confessed that he was in love with Nina and suggested they consider making more permanent plans.
Amy and Peter won an international competition with their one-thousand-piece Large Hadron Collider puzzle.
On the flight home, Giovanni and Frankie agreed that in spite of the chaos, they could not have asked for anything more. Well, just one thing: the recipe.
Back home, when Giovanni was unpacking, he went through the pockets of his blazer and found a small envelope. Inside was a note in his mother's handwriting:
Fluff the flour and soak the raisins in rum for two days.
Buon appetito.–Santa
Note to Reader: If you are ever at a baggage claim in an airport and there is one lonely suitcase circling an otherwise empty carousel, it's probably Giovanni's.
