33. Leo
Chapter thirty-three
Leo
I startle when I hear the distress call from Rian, and now I jump out of my seat, shooting to the door. "Something's happened."
Jeremy and Gryphon look at me surprised.
We've just finished telling the governor about Lavender's plans to assassinate him, and now arrangements have been made for her arrest.
But we need to get back home ASAP.
Rian is in trouble.
Alarmed, Jeremy gets to his feet and joins me at the door.
Gryphon follows at our heels. "How many men do you need?"
Jeremy meets his eyes. "All of them…"
This is war after all.
They attacked our pack. And they will pay.
Gryphon grabs his radio to make some calls. We will need his best men.
I just hope we're not too late.
"We're coming, Rian."
We arrive at the gravesite to find Rian alone.
There's no sign of Troy or Belle.
Nor Francis.
I crouch down, checking his pulse. He's alive. Just unconscious.
"Fuck!" I yell.
Gryphon and Jeremy start scouting the area for signs, but we're too late. They're gone.
Rian starts to come to and I meet his eyes.
"Rian, talk. What happened?"
One of Gryphon's men approaches our side. I can't see his face since it's covered, but I know we can trust him.
He isn't Beta.
Nor is he Alpha for that matter.
"Francis… he got away…." he groans.
Jeremy stops by the soldier's side. "Do you know where they went?"
Rian searches for Troy and Belle, fear taking over his face immediately. "He took them?"
"And we will get them back," Jeremy replies cooly. "Do you have any idea where they went? Are you well enough to track?"
I help the Omega to his feet and he starts searching the ground. "Of course I am."
He's an expert tracker. Even I can't see what he sees now as he searches the undergrowth.
He even uses his nose.
When he looks at Jeremy again, he nods. "Found a trail."
Jeremy and Rian have been tracking Omegas for some time now. They're experts in this field.
Belle and Troy are his scents matches too, so it's no surprise he picked up on their scents straight away.
Gryphon raises a brow. "Your orders, Jay. They're your pack."
Jeremy glances at the soldier on Gryphon's right.
The guy still doesn't speak. His face is covered as he remains ominous and silent.
"They may be my pack, but Belle is still your family," Jeremy notes.
Gryphon's burgundy eyes warm, and now he grips Jeremy's shoulder. "As are you now."
Jeremy grins back at the Alpha.
I'm all for family, but we need to get a move on.
Belle and Troy need us.
Gryphon glances at his soldier. "You ready?"
Again, the guy makes no sound.
Instead, he marches ahead, following Rian through the forest.
It will only be a matter of time until we find them.
Francis messed with the wrong pack.
"We're coming. Belle, Troy. Just hold on…"
