Jerrin

Don't know what it means; don't care

"You really can cook," I teased while I ate the French toast Sky had made. What were the chances I'd find my dream girl, and she'd also be vegetarian and dairy free? The way fate had worked, the odds were pretty good, I supposed.

"I told you I could," she laughed while spearing a square of her maple-laden toast. "When do you have to be back today?"

I frowned, swirling the bread on my fork through a puddle of syrup. "Noon."

Now was probably when I should tell her. Acidic guilt burned in my gut, but this still didn't seem like the opening I needed. Revealing my identity was going to ruin everything. Or maybe, I was purposely not telling her because I was a damn coward. I liked that she was attracted to me because of me and not because I was J. Waterstone .

In fairness, I couldn't keep the truth from her much longer. And if she got pissed, I'd figure out a way to fix it. I'd just have to blurt it out and hope for the best. Thankfully, my sweet girl didn't seem like the grudge-holding type.

"Sky," I started. "I have to—"

To my surprise, she climbed onto my lap. "I don't like that look on your face. Your work can't be that bad." She threaded her fingers into my hair, pulling it free from the knot I'd wrapped it into earlier. "Forget about it. Let me distract you for a little longer. Don't worry. I'll get you back there in time. But you can be just mine for now."

"I'm just yours forever," I muttered.

She kissed me while she rocked her hips into my quickly growing erection, our sexes only separated by her thin shorts and my underwear again.

Okay, maybe, now wasn't the moment for a confession. Fucking seemed like a much better option. The space at her small dinette wasn't enough, though. Standing, I carried her toward her bedroom. When she wrapped her legs around my waist, however, we only made it as far as the hallway. I pressed her to the wall, shoving down my boxer-briefs and wrenching her shorts out of the way.

"Foreplay later," I promised, thrusting deep into her with one smooth drive.

"All morning has been foreplay," she gasped. "Harder, Jerrin."

She didn't have to ask. The demanding shoves of my cock into her banged her hips into the wall.

"Yes! Oh, God, yes!" Sky cried out, urging me on, begging me for more. Her nails dug into my shoulders, her head dropping back. "Jerrin! Jerrin!"

The way she chanted my name settled in my soul, more heady than the pride that filled me when a crowd chorused for me. The only adulation I craved was hers. I worshiped her. She was everything.

Her giggle trilled through the hallway minutes later after we'd both cried out our releases and panted in the aftermath. "We're ridiculous."

"Fuck," I groaned into her neck. "I can't get enough of you."

"We have time before we have to clean up and leave. How about we try some more to get enough?"

I finished carrying her into the bedroom, careful to stay lodged inside her as I took her down to the mattress and started moving again. "Enough's never gonna happen."

* * * *

My fingers drummed on my thighs while Sky drove me to the venue. I kind of hated that she'd been carting me around, and once more, I looked forward to the day when I'd be driving her.

I'd spent most of the morning inside her, and I was looking forward to more of that, too. After the wall sex, there'd been the bed then the shower then the table. After that, she'd insisted we shower separately or we'd never make it to the festival grounds in time. I hoped it wouldn't be our last time together—that she'd let me back into her bed, into her life, after she found out my lie and I'd apologized.

Glancing over at her, I considered just blurting it out now, but I really wanted her to come to the concert. And this close to it, she'd probably dump me off a mile from the gate and disappear.

The knots in my belly tangled on themselves, twisting tighter the closer and closer we got to the venue. I really had fubared this whole situation, and now, it was too late while we fought through the snarl of traffic trying to get to the parking areas. Predicting how bad it would be, with all the people coming in, we'd left an hour early. I wasn't sure it was enough as we inched forward through the bumper-to-bumper lineup.

Not wanting to be recognized, I kept my head angled down and slightly facing Sky, my hand against the side of my face while I rested my elbow on the window.

"This crowd is more massive than I thought it would be," she commented. "Our turn is right up there. I have my pass to get us in for staff parking."

"That's good." The sooner we got to the secure section, the better. "You're still coming tonight, right?"

"Yep. Though this crowd makes me question the sanity of it. This is wild. But yeah, I'm coming."

"Good." The thought of her in the audience warred inside me, trying to calm me with the rightness and condemning me because she'd be pissed. "Tonight, after the concert, I want to take you to my place, and we can talk about what's next," I continued. It wouldn't be soon enough; I knew that. But I needed to sow the knowledge I planned a discussion. "We can talk about everything."

"Your place?" she asked. "You have a place?"

"Yeah. Sort of. You'll see."

"And we're going to have a talk? The talk?"

I heard the sadness in her voice, the hint of pain.

"No, sweet girl! Not that talk," I rushed to out. "Goodbye isn't anywhere in my thoughts. I meant we need to figure out where we go from here. Our future. I want more with you. The past couple days wasn't about us having a fling while the band's in town."

"Okay," she replied, huffing out a hard breath. "I want more, too."

A moment later, she veered to the secure gate. Rolling down her window, she presented her pass and cut off the guard who'd clearly been about to direct her away. Ducking his head, he looked at me. His eyes widened, and I shook my head, silently telling him not to say anything. He blinked but pressed his lips together. With a sharp nod, he headed over to let us through.

"Thank fuck for passes, huh?" I said.

"You're not kidding. Drop off at the same place as usual or at the stage access?"

"Usual place."

She pulled up to the second gate and shifted the car into park, looking over at me. "Good luck. I hope everything goes smoothly for all of you. On stage and off."

"Thanks." Pulling her toward me, I leaned in and pressed my lips to hers. I let the kiss deepen, escalate and go as far as she let it. At this juncture, I didn't care who saw us. It didn't matter anymore. In a few hours, it would all be out in the open.

Drawing back, I ran my tongue over my bottom lip. I wanted to lean in and kiss her swollen mouth again, but I had to report in before someone came looking for me. With a resigned breath, I reached for the door then climbed out. Gripping the frame, I leaned to look back at her.

"Sky…"

Her head tilted. "What?"

"Will you do me a favor? Promise me you'll remember I want to talk about things later. You're going to have some questions." And there would probably be some yelling. "And I promise I have answers."

"Jerrin? What?"

"You're everything to me, Sky. Everything. Have Marley bring you backstage tonight, okay?"

Before she could ask more, I slammed the door and jogged past the gate.

"That looked intense," Stone said, startling me when I got a few yards inside. "No wonder you keep disappearing."

"Can't help myself," I admitted. "She's my future, Stone. My one."

At least, she would be, if I didn't fuck this all up.
