Chapter 34

Chapter

Thirty-Four

Allie

I floated down the corridor, humming as I made my way back to my suite. The events of the past hour replayed in my mind like a beautiful and unreal dream. Maxxon's arms around me, his lips on mine, the promises we'd made to each other. It took every ounce of willpower I'd possessed to agree to return to my suite while he sorted things out, but I understood the need for discretion.

Despite joking about telling the Gatazoid wedding planner first, Maxxon did need to talk to his superior officers. He needed to come clean about our meeting on Earth and why I'd signed up to be a tribute bride. I'd offered to go with him and apologize for not being completely honest about my motives, but he'd insisted on doing it himself. Apparently, his transgression was more severe than mine since he was a Drexian officer.

Tribute brides were allowed to change their minds, and according to Maxxon, I wouldn't be the first to reject one Drexian and take another. I also wouldn't be the first to fall for a procurer, and he wouldn't be the first procurer to take a tribute that was intended for someone else. I hadn't asked what had happened to those Drexians, but I guessed that it took some finessing as well.

As I rounded a corner, lost in my thoughts, a loud voice jolted me from my daydreaming.

"Allie! There you are!" Serge's exuberance snapped me right back to reality. "My goodness, look at you! You're absolutely glowing!"

Heat rose to my cheeks. I knew full well why I was glowing, but I wasn't about to share the real reason. "Thanks."

"You'll make such a perfect bride." He fell into step beside me, his platform shoes clacking on the hard floor. "I can't wait to start planning everything!"

I couldn't wait to start planning, either, but not a wedding to Varek, like Serge believed. Still, I did want to get married to Maxxon as soon as possible.

"So, tell me," Serge hooked his small arm through mine, "what kind of wedding do you envision? Something grand and opulent? Or perhaps more intimate and romantic?"

I hesitated. Was it wrong to play along? Was it dishonest to talk to Serge about a wedding when I intended to have a different groom? Was it bad of me to keep the truth from him?

Then my thoughts drifted back to Maxxon, to the first time I'd seen him—really seen him—standing in the pool in the caverns. "Water."

Serge stopped walking and pulled me to a halt. "Water?"

I gave my head a bit of a shake. "I like water. Could we have a wedding in front of a body of water?"

Serge's eyes lit up. "What about a waterfall? Beach weddings are lovely but so overdone." He leaned in and started talking from one side of his mouth like he was trying not to be overheard, although there was no one in the corridor with us. "Don't get me wrong. I love a pretty sunset wedding on the sand as much as the next guy, but been there and done that, right?"

"Right."

"I love it!" Serge released my arm, whipped out his ever-present clipboard, and furiously took notes. "It would be holographic, of course, but our designers could create something stunning for your wedding to Varek."

I opened my mouth to correct him, but realized he wasn't even paying attention to me anymore.

"I'll start working on designs right away!" He said as he started to back away, still scratching at his clipboard and muttering excitedly about waterfall simulations and mist generators. "This is going to be stunning."

I released a breath as he bustled away. That hadn't gone so badly, although one could argue that my wedding plans to Varek had been put into high gear, which might not be a great thing. I continued to the inclinator, stepping into an empty car and being greeted by what I was almost certain was "Pour Some Sugar On Me" rendered in an elegant string arrangement. I really needed to ask someone about the ‘80s Muzak.

When the inclinator stopped at my floor, I walked quickly down the teak wood walkway, pressing my palm to the door panel and hurrying into my suite. I paused, holding my breath and scanning the room. There was no one there.

I exhaled loudly, grateful that Varek had left, and I was alone. Then I remembered that I wouldn't be alone for long. Maxxon would be coming to my suite as soon as he'd made arrangements with his superiors.

I thought of how his strong arms had encircled me, how he'd hoisted me up and pressed me against the wall, how I'd hooked my legs around him, how his kiss had become wild when he'd realized I wasn't wearing panties. My heart raced at the memory, a delicious warmth spreading through my body and tingling between my legs.

Then an idea took hold. I wanted to be ready for Maxxon when he came to my suite. I wanted to show him just how ready I was to spend the rest of my life with him, and I wanted to give him another taste of what the rest of his life would look like.

With my pulse jumping, I slipped out of my clothes and crossed to the standing wardrobe, taking out the softest, silkiest nightgown I could find in the drawers. It was a diaphanous thing, black and sheer, whispering across my skin when I slipped it on.

I climbed onto the massive bed, running my fingers through the long strands of my hair until they fell in soft waves around my shoulders and arranging myself in what I hoped was an alluring pose.

As I waited, my mind wandered, imagining Maxxon's reaction when he walked through the door. Would his eyes darken with desire? Would he sweep me into his arms without a word? Would he fuck me hard and fast like he had in the supply closet?

Thinking of how desperately he'd taken me in the closet made heat pulse between my legs. I let them fall open as I slid my hand down, finding myself already soaking wet. I bit my bottom lip as I imagined Maxxon walking in and seeing me with my legs spread for him. Would he want to taste me first or would he be unable to stop himself from plunging his cock deep and hard until I screamed?

A hungry sound escaped my lips, and I found my clit, circling one finger over its slickness as I thought about everything I wanted Maxxon to do to me and everything I wanted to do to him. My breathing became quick and shallow as I circled faster, and I arched my back as I imagined that it was Maxxon's tongue flicking my clit and not my finger.

I closed my eyes and envisioned his head between my legs and his throaty moans as he lapped at me. A tremor went through me as I pictured him sitting up and fisting his huge cock, his lips wet from my juices. Then I imagined opening my legs even wider for him and ordering him to fuck me. As his cock thrust into me, I gave my clit a final stroke and my body detonated, sending trembles through me as I came.

I let my legs fall open, and I lay back as the aftershocks rolled through me. Then my eyes fluttered open, and I was disoriented for a moment in the unfamiliar surroundings of my Drexian suite. But as my mind came into focus again, I heard a beeping.

What was beeping? With a jolt, I realized it was the door.

My heart leapt. Maxxon! He must have finished sorting things out with the Drexians. I sat up quickly, running my fingers through my hair in a futile attempt to tame it. My thighs were slick from my arousal and my nipples were hard points. I felt a blush creep up my cheeks as I imagined Maxxon's reaction. Would he know what I'd just done? Would he be excited if I told him?

"Come in," I called out, my voice huskier than usual.

The door slid open with a soft hiss, and I leaned forward eagerly, a sultry smile already forming on my lips. But then my smile froze, and my stomach dropped.

It wasn't Maxxon.
