Chapter 14
“This one”s from me,” Emmy says, smiling as she hands me a big pink bag. “Well, the guys helped, but I came up with the design.”
This day has actually been pretty fun. I’m not normally one who likes this kind of attention, but having my loved ones here to celebrate my baby girl, seeing everyone laugh and smile, it’s worth it.
After the little murder date the guys set up for me, Queenie got her fix and felt like it was time to let me take control again. I just think she hated feeling pregnant. But, I don’t mind it. She’s already kept so much pain from me, I can endure feeling like I’ve swallowed a watermelon, while dealing with back pains and swollen ankles.
She still won’t allow me to know the details of the horrors the guys’ fathers put me through and honestly, as much as I hate being kept in the dark about things that could possibly be used against me in the future, this is one thing I’m okay with not knowing.
Because Queenie didn’t take over completely, allowing me to stay at the forefront of our mind while she took the driver”s seat, I was able to deal with my emotions before taking control again.
I’m not one to talk about my feelings, it will never be something I’m ever comfortable with and my lovers know this. So, I asked them not to talk about it again. That anything to do with their fathers will be dealt by Queenie and in the meantime they can deal with them. I want no part of it. I never want to see their faces again.
Queenie is the one who had to endure the pain they caused, she deserves the one to make them bleed.
Me, I just want to enjoy my life, my lovers, and my baby girls.
Rosie sits next to me, Melody on her lap as they eagerly await for me to open my gift.
With a smile, I pull the pink tissue paper out and look inside. “No way.” A pure joyful laugh bubbles out of me. “You didn’t.”
“I did,” Emmy says proudly, a mischievous grin playing on her lips.
Reaching in, I pull out three wooden daggers and three throwing stars. “These are amazing!”
“Tyson carved them. It’s safe for the baby to play with and put in her mouth,” Emmy tells me.
“You know, after everything we’ve all been through, I’m honestly surprised this is the thing that has me sitting back and questioning just how messed up we are,” Axel huffs out a laugh. “Hand carved weapons as baby toys.” He shakes his head with a grin.
“Now I’m pissed I didn’t think of it,” Neo grumbles.
“Hey, you had the mobile made for her.” I pat his knee where he sits next to me, enjoying the present part just as much as the girls have.
We didn’t go too crazy with games and such, just a barbecue at our place with some decorations, presents and cake.
“Right.” He gives me a beaming smile. “I did do that.”
“That”s nothing to be proud of,” Dean sighs. “It’s literally a mobile of hanging limbs, knifes, daggers, skulls and other fucked up shit.”
“Hey!” Neo shouts. “I worked very hard on it.”
“And I love it,” I tell him, leaning in to kiss his cheek. He melts into my touch. Sometimes, I forget this man rips people apart with his bare hands. “And you.” I shoot Dean a glare. Fucker has the audacity to let his lip twitch with a grin. “Leave him alone.”
“I think it’s weird.” Rosie scrunches her nose up at Neo.
“Well, I think you”re weird.” He sticks his tongue out at her and she does the same back. These two, I swear.
Rosie hasn’t asked any questions on the odd things we do. It’s like she just accepted this is our life and she doesn’t care. I love that about her. But the day will come when she knows about what I do.
And while I don’t think she’s going to see me as anything less, I don’t know how she’s going to react that this is the kind of thing her mother does. Kill people. Even if it’s evil people.
“Now, now children,” Cass chuckles. “Let’s not fight.”
“She started it!” Neo says at the same time Rosie says.
“He started it.”
I bite my lip, shake my head and grin, giving my sister a hug. “Thank you.”
The rest of the party is fun. Rosie and Melody run around the back yard, Daisy and Mr Bacon chasing them at their heels.
Neo chats with Cass, while Axel sticks to Sam’s side. I smile over at my sweet boy. He’s come so far over these years. He’s no longer afraid to be around my family and the other guys. Still shy, not a big talker, but I don’t see fear in his eyes anymore.
Charlie’s telling Evie about all the new ideas she has for the club. Charlie started working as a bartender at Evolution. Her and Roxy have become besties too. Charlie just has that way about her that makes it hard not to love her. I love that for my sister.
When they first came to live here, I was jealous. I couldn’t help it. Charlie and Evie clicked too fast and got along too easily, add on the fact Charlie is gorgeous. But it didn’t take me long to get over it when I saw the way she looked at my sister. And the way Evie looked at me. I was stupid to even think either of them would stray. But I’m human, even if sometimes I try to act like I’m not.
The rest are broken off in their own little groups. Emmy is with Talon and Ben in the pool, Dean is with Tyson and Oliver, talking about things regarding the MC.
And me, I’m snuggling my little baby nephew. “You”re going to keep your baby cousin safe, aren”t you?” I rub my hand through his black, fuzzy hair. “I have a feeling you two are going to be besties, just like Rosie and Melody, and me and your daddy.” I kiss his little forehead as he makes an adorable sound in his sleep.
I can’t wait for this to be my little one in my arms.
Feeling like I need to pee, I stand up. A sharp pain in my side causes me to gasp, my whole body locks up as a gush whooshes out of me. “Oh fuck,” I whisper, my eyes shooting up to find Neo watching me, eyes wide.
He’s over to me in a flash. “Are you okay?”
“I think so?” I tell him and hand the baby to Emmy when she comes to stand next to us. “I think I pissed myself,” I say it without an ounce of shame.
Emmy laughs. “Ah, maybe but you are at thirty-six weeks. If I have to give it a guess, I’d say your water just broke.”
I blink at her, letting her words process in my mind. Neo however? Yeah. He’s not so chill about it.
“It’s baby time?” he asks in a hushed tone.
Another sharp pain hits me and I hiss, holding my hand to my stomach.
“Contraction,” Emmy says.
“Fuck. Okay, yeah, maybe it’s baby time.”
“Oh fuck.” Neo’s hands shoot to his head. “It’s baby time. No one panic!”
“You”re the only one fucking panicking,” Axel growls.
“I’m going to go grab the bags. Someone carry her!” Neo shouts as he rushes out of the backyard and into the house.
“I don’t fucking need anyone to carry me,” I grumble as I start to waddle my ass toward the back door. Another contraction hits me and my knees almost give out from the pain.
“We got Rosie,” Emmy tells me as she follows me in. “Let’s go! Your woman is having a baby!” she tells Axel, Cass, Dean and Sam. But I know they’re not far behind.
“Let me help you,” Evie tells me with her no bullshit tone as she wraps her arm around my shoulder and kisses my cheek.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” She smiles. “We’re going to have a baby.”
My eyes fill with tears. “We’re going to have a baby.”
