Chapter Nineteen

Beast

I pace at the edge of the woods as the challenge presses on. If I wasn’t confined in these blasted woods, I would be the one challenging him instead of her.

I try to reach out to Lillian through our connection, but I have been unsuccessful. It’s like she’s blocked me out and I don’t know how to get through. Something has to be messing with our bond and when I find out what it is, I’m going to rip that person to shreds. It has to be someone doing this.

I glance to the side, where the pack is gathered around. Someone is standing near the back with a hood over their head. Their hands are swaying in front of them.

A low growl rumbles in my throat before I let out a howl.

A witch. There hasn’t been one in Dark Moon for years. Not since Natalia and Emmeline. So, where has this one been hiding all these years?

As I hear grandmother yelp, I jerk my head to the right to look at the fight. I hate that she has taken it upon herself to challenge him and it’s making me angrier with each passing second.

Why isn’t anyone else standing up to him? Someone needs to knock him down a few notches and show him what a true alpha is.

He’s not even that powerful and I could smother him with my alpha command.

My attention is jerked elsewhere as I hear Alana still crying over her mate. She continues to watch the woods, her gaze darting around nervously. Oh, she’s looking for me to ensure I won’t attack her as well.

I almost feel sorry for her.

Well, almost.

What Nigel has done is inexcusable and I don’t regret killing him for it. He deserved to have his head ripped from his shoulders after all he has done to Lillian.

My only regret is not being able to escape these woods. I only have the full moon left and then I’ll be trapped forever here.

Lily, please. Can you hear me?

I see her on her knees, her eyes wide with horror. She’s not hearing me and the situation is growing dire by the minute.

When grandmother yelps again, our connection opens like a floodgate.

That's it, baby. Pull from me. Use me. You are definitely mine. There is no other explanation. Not after you joined me in the woods, your wolf being set free because of my scent, and now this. You are my beautiful white wolf mate that I have longed for. Use me, use all of me.

She stands, her head falling back as she lets out her own howl. It's hauntingly beautiful. That is my little alpha female coming out to play.

Losing her parents had been so hard on her that it shoved her alpha abilities deep within, or at least, that is what I think happened. Though they creep out, they're not always reliable and constant.

But all I have are theories.

She goes straight to her Grandmother as her wolf presses to the surface fully. The poor old woman is lying on the ground whimpering and covered in blood in her human form.

Lillian growls as she looks up at Corbin. The pack closest to her gasps from the look on her face. Fur is rippling across her skin and her teeth are shifted. Those beautiful red eyes are on display for all to see.

She pants heavily and when she speaks, it’s a mix of her human voice with her wolf’s. “You are going to pay for everything you have done.”

Her wolf takes over, causing her shift to come out quicker than she can strip. One second, she is my beautiful mate in human form and in the next, stands the most beautiful white wolf I have ever seen.

There she is. My everything. My gift to break this curse and my future.

She slowly steps over her grandmother’s body and heads to Corbin, who is on the other side of the area, waiting.

The prowess she possesses sends a shiver down my spine.

Oh, I like that.

His eyes are locked on her, an expression of horror and delight showing on his face.

Without wasting a single second, she lunges for him and he doesn’t even move out of the way. She bites him so quickly on the shoulder that he takes a second to catch up.

When he finally attacks, their battle becomes a mix of gray and white.

He watches her, a mix of horror and delight present in his wolf's features. Without further delay, she lunges for him and attacks him with a fury I didn't know she had.

As he lands a bite on her left flank, she doesn’t even let out a yelp from the pain. Instead, she channels her rage into attacking him again and biting him harder, causing him to yell out in pain.

Her lust for violence grows and feeds directly into the link between us. I laugh internally as I feel it building.

Oh, that’s my woman.

She finally out maneuvers him and grabs his throat between her jaws. Right as she's ready to crush his windpipe, one of the pack members calls out to her.

In all the chaos, I missed them moving closer to her grandmother. "Kill him and lose your grandmother. If you don’t think I’ll do it, then you are sorely mistaken.”

The light bounces off the silver knife in the girl's hand. I believe her name is Asella. "Let our alpha go and do as he asks. We'll let her live."

Lily stands there with his throat in her jaws, ready to crush him. I can see the conflict in her gaze as she looks down at her grandmother.

Then I hear their conversation through our bond.

I've lived my life. End him.

No, Grandmother. I'm not doing this. I won't let them do this to you.

Lillian, do it. End this and take control of the pack.

"Time is ticking. What is your choice?" Asella raises the dagger over her Grandmother's heart, ready to strike.
