REBEL
"I don't know if I want to have any more kids. Evie went through so much pain having the baby. It was scarier than hell. I don't know if I can go through watching her in that kind of pain again," I said, looking at the team. We were having a beer while the ladies visited Evie and the baby.
"Why was she home alone?" Reaper demanded. "If I hadn't come home when I did, she would have had the baby on the kitchen floor."
"The baby wasn't due for two more weeks, or I wouldn't have gone grocery shopping and left her here. That reminds me, I left my groceries at the store."
"They delivered the groceries while you were in the room with Evie, having the baby," Reaper said.
I looked at Raider, who seemed ready to vomit. "It wasn't that bad," I said.
"Daisy already told me how bad it was. So don't lie to me," he said.
"Yes, but Evie is ready to have another one. I'm not ready yet, and that won't happen anytime soon. That was fucking scary. I thought for sure her head would start spinning on her shoulders," I said, chuckling. "Just make sure you are at the hospital where they have the pain shot."
"Don't worry about that. If I have to park there a week ahead of time, we'll be at the hospital. My baby girl will be born where there are hundreds of professionals," Raider said. "Thank God Allison was close by."
"Yes," I said, relieved that I had spotted Allison in the grocery store parking lot while rushing to be with Evie.
Later that night, I walked into our room. Hannah was in bed with Evie, and the baby was sleeping in his bassinet next to her. This was home; that's what came to my mind when I saw them together in bed. My family. I walked to the baby and looked down; he was awake. I picked him up, and I swear he smiled at me.
"Christopher Bellmont, you are perfect, and I love you so much. I promise I will take care of you and guard you from harm. I am so proud to be your father; you are beautiful." I kissed him before I put him back in his bed. Then I got ready for bed and slept until Hannah's kisses woke me up.
When I opened my eyes, Evie smiled and kissed me. She was feeding the baby. "We are so blessed. Look at these two precious babies we have. I want to stay here and move to our home later. I don't know what would have happened if Reaper hadn"t been here."
"I agree," I said, kissing the top of our baby's head. "Who wants pancakes?" I asked.
"Me," Hannah said.
"Me too," Evie agreed. "Can you put the baby to bed while I shower, please?"
"Do you need me to help you?"
"No, I'll be fine," Evie said, smiling.
"Come on, Hannah. Let"s get those pancakes started." I carried the baby to the kitchen, and Reaper was already there.
"Good morning," he said, picking Hannah up and kissing her. Then I handed him the baby.
"He's beautiful. You are a lucky man, Dash Bellmont."
"I know, I am." I took the baby and let Reaper start the pancakes. "Where are you going this morning?" I asked.
"Louisiana. I'll be guarding this woman from a stalker. She only wanted one guard, and even though we always use two, we'll use one this time," Reaper explained.
"What's her name?"
"Sydney Jo Allen."
"Are you taking the company plane?"
"Viper is flying me there, and then I'll rent a vehicle. They didn't tell us much about it; they just said this stalker is getting bolder."
"Good luck, and be careful. Remember, stalkers are dangerous. They usually always have weapons on them."
"I'll remember that," he said, flipping a pancake onto a plate. I watched Reaper cut it into little bites and add a small amount of syrup. Then he picked Hannah up and put her in her highchair. Then he kissed Hannah goodbye.
"Thank you for making Hannah's breakfast. You are going to be a great dad one day."
"I will be a great dad, but after seeing all the pain Evie was in, I'm not sure if I can go through that again."
I chuckled. Evie entered the kitchen. "Be careful out there, Knox Bellmont; thank you for everything yesterday. I don't know what I would have done without you being here."
"I'm glad I was here. Sit down and let Rebel wait on you."
"I will. Take care of yourself."
We watched Reaper pick up his bag and leave.
