I'm not sure what just happened, but I feel like a semi has hit me. I can't seem to stop my eyes from eating him up. Never in all my adult years has a man affected me like this. If I don't get away from this table, I'm scared I may climb over it and attack the man, children present or not.

After finishing my cupcake, I brushed the crumbs off the table onto my plate. When I took my plate to the dishwasher, Bren was already loading it. I handed her my plate before running my hand over her head, thanking her with a smile.

Turning back to the table, I asked, "Right, where is this barn we need to look at?"

Everyone jumped up and started towards the back door, putting on shoes and light jackets.

Huh? It looked like it was a family event.

We trekked to the far side of the property, past the cottages, towards a large barn. Along the way, we picked up Dog and Maggie. They had just pulled up in the garage when we left. Thor had gone to the train station to pick up the rest of the brothers. There was a buzz of excitement in the air as Kane pulled open the large wooden doors.

Switching on the lights, they started to flicker. I ventured forward to find the circuit breaker to have a look at it. Leaving the others in the main hall while I wandered around, looking for the circuit breaker. I knew immediately it would need replacing to get it up to spec. Pulling out a notebook, I made notes on what needed to be done..

Hearing a heavy tread coming up behind me, I turned around to see Kane in the doorway of the small cupboard I was standing in that housed the circuit breaker and the boiler for the heating.

Coming closer to where I was standing, he questioned, "So, what's your verdict?"

I cleared my throat after I took in a breath. A moan escaped my lips as I got a whiff of soap and man. My clit seemed to be throbbing in time with my heart. Seriously, what the fuck was wrong with me?

Lifting my eyes to his, I saw they were hooded, and his chest was now just inches from mine.

"You need to rip everything out and start fresh. I can do the electrics, but you will need a heating engineer to do the rads and install a new boiler."

He nodded knowingly as if expecting this, "Yeah, can you work up a price for us and recommend a plumber?"

I nodded and moved a little closer to him, licking my lower lip slightly, and my throat suddenly dry. I replied hoarsely, "I can do that."

His hand cupped my cheek, and his thumb rubbed lightly over my lower lip, pulling it gently.

"I'm kissing you now, Abby," he whispered in warning, lowering his lips.

"Mum, are you guys done checking out the circuit boards and stuff? You've been ages, and the others have arrived."

He turned his attention to Kane, "Nana Maggie says to tell you the others have arrived, and you need to get back to the house for supper. Mum, we're staying too. Nana Maggie's orders."

I nodded and replied, "Okay, we'll be out soon."

He tapped on the door, giving us one more long look and left.

"You didn't answer me. Fourteen years?" Kane questioned again in disbelief.

I laughed a little at his disbelief, "Yep, I've been with nobody since Sam's dad when I was fifteen. I had Sam when I was sixteen, and I was too busy raising a baby, then running a company and building it back up for the time to date. Plus, I didn't want to introduce just anyone into our lives. Sam needed stability more than I needed to get laid."

He shook his head and dropped a kiss on my forehead.

"You amaze me. Just so you're aware, I will ask you out, and we'll see where this goes. For me, it's you on the back of my bike, wearing my patch."

Kane grinned at me when I narrowed my eyes at his tone.

"Really? That's where you see us?"

He dared to grin even wider before replying, "Yup, and then maybe in a year or so, my ring on your finger and my baby in your belly."

My mouth dropped open in shock. Seriously this man. "What the hell? We met like two hours ago," I exclaimed.

He nodded, grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the cupboard and into the main hall. "Yup, but when a Crow man knows, he knows. And honey, I knew when I saw you pull up in your van in front of the café that any woman who'd raised a son as awesome as Sam was a woman that I wanted in my life."

He gently pushed me out the doors and locked them before taking my hand and walking us back to the main house.

I just shook my head. I couldn't make my mouth or brain work to get the words out.

The man was insane. Hot, but insane.
