CHAPTER 18
ABBY
The following three weeks were hectically busy. The clubhouse was re-wired and safe to be in. The bathrooms were up and running, as was the kitchen. Sam had relaid the wood floor and had roped Ben in to help. They had also built a massive bar down one side of the barn, and Dragon had hung mirrors on the wall making the space look bigger. Noni and Avy had bought a couple of sofas, a pool table, and a dartboard set up in the far corner.
The wood for the table for their meeting room had arrived, and Sam was building it on-site. To say my son had impressed everyone with his skill was an understatement. There were only a few weeks left of school holidays, so he worked overtime to finish it.
The new MC members and prospects had arrived and were settled in the cottages. I had to agree with Noni's assessment of holy hotness, she had whispered hoarsely as they had gotten out of their hired vehicle.
The three known to our men were Hawk, Navy, and Bull. The rest of the men would have to prospect as they had not served with Kane and the boys.
According to Avy, Blaze was fine with a capital F and a redhead.
Bond because he was clean cut, with his hair styled just right, and his clothes always on point, even if it was only jeans and a shirt. He had the most piercing blue eyes.
Cairo, who got his name because his mother was Egyptian, had dark soulful eyes and smooth caramel skin that he didn't mind showing off as he seemed to be averse to shirts. Not that any of us were complaining.
The last prospect was Skinny, who was not skinny at all but had muscles upon muscles and looked like he could happily bench press a bus. Out of the lot, he was the quietest and was the younger brother of Bull.
They all seemed like stand-up guys from my little interaction with them. A big plus was that they didn't care that women were part of the meetings.
As for Sam and me, we had all but moved into the manor.
After discussing with Kane and where we were headed, he laid it out for me by simply saying, "Babe, you're it for me. I'm going to marry you but not until I talk to your boy.
"Then we're going to get rid of the ACES. I'm going to fill your belly with as many babies as you'll give me to add to the four we already have. And we're going to live happily ever fucking after."
I still laughed when I thought about his face when I repeated his last sentence to him, "Happily ever fucking after or happily fucking ever after? I just want to be clear."
"Both," was his reply before he threw me on our bed and proceeded to fuck my brains out to make sure that I had no more questions about our happiness.
True to his word, he'd spoken to Sam and got his blessing. I had woken up one morning and had nearly taken my eye out when I had rubbed the sleep out of my eyes with the ring on my finger.
That was my man. He knew what he wanted and went about ensuring it was his. My ring was a gorgeous tiger's eye, my favourite stone, surrounded by a small ring of diamonds. He knew a traditional engagement ring wouldn't suit me because of my work, he'd found me a ring I could wear all the time, the stones were imbedded into the gold band so shouldn't get in the way of my working.
I'd showered and dressed in my usual blue jeans but added a bright red boho top and a bit of makeup, leaving my hair down. I'd driven straight to the gym, where he could be found at this time of the morning, walked straight up to him, grabbed his head, and laid a hot and heavy kiss on his lips.
"Yes," I replied before turning, nodding at the men and some women in the gym. I waved my left hand at them, flashing my ring as I left a swing to my hips and a bounce to my step as I walked out the door.
Hearing the loud whoops of laughter and teasing shouts from Kane's brothers and the rest of his men, I'd smiled and went to the café to share our news with any of the family that happened to be there at this early hour of the morning.
I found Avy, Katie, and Ellie at a table waiting for breakfast. Ellie was colouring a picture in a colouring book. Once they had seen my ring, Avy had let out a squeal which brought Maggie out of the kitchen and Bella from behind the counter.
After getting hugs from them all, we settled down, and I added my breakfast order to Avy's.
"You'd better let Noni know. She won't forgive you if you don't," Avy said with a grin.
Taking out my phone, I snapped a quick picture of my ring and sent a text to Noni.
My phone rang in the next second, making me chuckle. I was still smiling as I answered it, not that I could hear much, just lots of shouting and whooping.
Holding the phone away from my ear, I put it on speaker as we waited for Noni to calm down.
"Whoop, whoop, girl. You'll finally be family not only in spirit but in name too. I told that man he'd jinxed himself when he said he was too busy for a relationship," she cackled in glee.
I raised my eyebrows at that comment. Avy waved her hand in dismissal and explained, "It was just after he had arrived back, and we were discussing riding bikes and quality shags. Kane said he didn't foresee any shagging in his future, quality or otherwise, and Noni told him he'd jinxed himself. The next day he met you," she said.
I nodded in understanding and reminded Noni to send Bren over so we could go school uniform shopping before sayinggoodbye.
We'd just finished eating when Bren arrived and made her way over to us. Getting a hug from her and a quiet, "Congratulations, Mamma A."
Smiling up at her and tucking her hair behind her ear, "Thank you, baby. Are you ready to go school clothes shopping/?" I asked.
"Not really," she replied, her nose wrinkled up.
I laughed and replied, "Me neither, but needs must. Are you ready to go, Ellie?"
Getting a nod from her, she bounced off her chair and came over to me. We said goodbye and headed out for a morning of uniform shopping. The boys were lucky to have gotten out of it by giving me their sizes and were going to go shoe shopping with Kane later in the day.
