Epilogue

" Anjo ! Harper and Bastian are here!"
My wife rounds from the kitchen, waddling her way carefully across the room, but Harper runs to meet her. Pulling my wife into her arms. They do this awkward hug around Becca's growing belly. My child… our child is set to arrive in two weeks. But my wife is hoping for sooner rather than later as her discomfort is palpable. And I can't stand seeing her in so much tenderness.
Life has changed. We spend half the year in Denver, Colorado, but not the cold half, and half the year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, not the really warm half. It's the best of both worlds and they are both home now. I really love the mountains, and my love really loves the beaches.
And our son will love to surf. If his mother allows.
Last year, with Becca by my side, I took first in the World Championship Tour. It was the highlight of my career, but then recently, I took a very scary board hit to the head and if I hadn't have been rescued, I wouldn't be here today to witness my wife beaming at her friend. The close-call is not something we talk about, but I have told my manager that this year will be my last.
However, I haven't told my wife. I will tell her after we spend some time with our newest family member and make it back to Rio for my family to meet baby Sebastian, Sebbi for short.
Harper and Becca squeal and I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't been called by my friend Raul, the waiter at the café, that Becca was there, looking more lost than the first time I saw her. I rushed over only to slip into a chair once again and overhear the most beautiful admission of love.
My love believes that I saved her in Rio, but the truth is she saved me. Saved me from caring too much about material things. Saved me from putting all my time into my career. And saved me from a life of boredom.
I have been enraptured by an angel and forever will never be enough.
