Epilogue
Les
The day had finally come, and Rae-Rae was more excited than a Little with a new stuffy. She'd been restless all night; he'd had to make love to her four times for her to finally fall deeply asleep and stay there. Not that Les had minded in the least. Making love to Rae-Rae was his favorite activity.
That morning as he dressed her, she'd talked a mile a minute about all the things that could go wrong, but he'd reminded her that in the end, only one thing mattered, and that was going to happen that day. He'd technically fibbed, two things mattered and were going to happen, but he couldn't mention one.
He had a feeling that if he let the cat out of the bag before her big, bad biker friends were present, he'd never hear the end of it. They were good guys who were a bit protective of Rae-Rae and he could appreciate that. They were all Daddies like him. He even liked them all very much. That didn't mean Les wanted to end up on their bad side. The Devil's Wrath was not coming down on his head. No way.
They made the fairly short drive to the property Rae-Rae had purchased in Porter's Corner, and turned in mere moments before a pack of motorcycles did, "They're going to help get set up before everyone else gets here," Rae-Rae explained.
"Perfect," Les said, "That should help alleviate some of those fears about the day going wrong."
They all worked together, setting up tables and decorations. When Eli and Georgie, Rawhide Ranch's party planners, arrived with the caterers, Rae-Rae headed to the back to help them. Les nodded at the other men, sent a quick text, and headed to his truck. He reached into the built-in toolbox, and grabbed the supplies that Rae-Rae had no knowledge of. He didn't want to hijack her big day, so he needed to hurry and get things in place before the guests of the opening showed up.
Raelynn
"This all looks fantastic!"
Raelynn was helping to unload all the pans of food from the cart the caterer used for transport. She thought there was probably enough to feed the entire town of Porter's Corner instead of the thirty or so friends she'd invited to the grand opening of the new shelter.
"Is there anything else I can do to help?"
"No, sweetie," Eli assured her. "Georgie and I have got this covered."
"That's right," Georgie confirmed never even pausing as she reached out to straighten the line of dishes. "Go do one of the other one hundred things that are probably on your list."
She wasn't wrong, Raelynn thought she must have at least that many things she needed to do. It might be a small event, but Raelynn still wanted it to be perfect. She headed back to the main room to check progress but stopped in her tracks when she saw what was happening in the room.
Master Derek and Sadie chatted with the president of the Devil's Wrath MC, Blade, while Hayleigh and Chef Connor talked to Rocky and Aiden. All her best friends from the Ranch mingled with all her best friends from home. Had she lost track of time? The girls and their Daddies weren't supposed to be there for another hour at least.
When she looked around more, she found the tables set with vases of sunflowers and daisies, and in the middle of the room, her Daddy knelt, a box cupped in his palms. There was an eerie silence as everyone seemed to realize she was there, and quiet murmurs began as she made her way to Daddy.
"Twenty years ago, you were my world," he finally said. "Fifteen, ten and five years ago, you were still my world. The only thing that has felt completely right in all that time was seeing you again. The time we've spent together has changed things. You aren't my world anymore, babygirl, you're my whole damn universe." Daddy opened the top of the box, revealing the gorgeous amethyst engagement ring that had once sent her running for the hills. How many times had she wished for another chance to see it and run toward it instead of away? "Will you marry me, Rae-Rae?"
"Yes!" Raelynn shouted, as she did what she'd always wanted to do and ran toward Daddy, hugging his neck and kissing him with everything in her. When they finally broke apart for some air, Raelynn leaned close and whispered, "You just made my biggest wish come true. You're definitely a genie."
Daddy laughed out loud and hugged her tightly to him, before setting her on her feet, slipping the gorgeous ring on her finger, and telling her to get busy.
Master Derek did what he did best and got everyone moving again as he clapped his hands and shouted, "It's time to open a shelter!"
