Chapter 11

Raelynn

Somethingabout him wanting to be between her and danger was really freaking hot. She watched as he prepared to join her. He shut off the overhead light, then went to the bathroom and asked if she liked some light when she was sleeping.

"I do, but I have a nightlight by the lamp."

He turned off the bathroom light, closed the door, then came over and finally slipped under the covers beside her. Reaching over, he turned off the lamp and her mini lava lamp came on automatically in the dark.

"Cute," Les commented, "Very you."

"Yeah, the hippie chick could never be tamed," she confessed with a laugh.

"Good."

Les wiggled a bit, then reached behind his head and pulled out Sami. He smiled fondly at her friend.

"Nice to see you again, Sami. It's been a long time."

Raelynn giggled as he reintroduced himself to the sloth.

"Oh, I've been good. Have you been guarding our girl?"

He held the sloth up to his ear as if Sami was telling him a secret, then whispered back, "Yeah, I know all about her stubbornness, but you've obviously done a great job." He gave the sloth a tight hug and said, "You're welcome. She's staring at me. I think she wants you back now."

He wasn't wrong. When Daddy handed her Sami, she hugged him tight and scooted closer to the man beside her. She inched her way closer a little at a time, not wanting to be too obvious. Apparently, she didn't succeed since he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in asking, "Is this better?"

"Mmmhmm."

"Good, now go to sleep, little girl."

"Yes, Daddy."

If anyone had asked, she would have told them she didn't sleep much and she wasn't tired, but as it turned out, she fell fast asleep as if his words were a magic spell. Either that, or it was his arms around her.

Raelynn came awake slowly. At first, she didn't remember where she was and when she felt a solid chest under her head, she almost freaked. But it took only a few moments to remember everything that had happened the day before. As it all floated through her mind, a smile spread across her lips. She checked the time on the alarm clock in the room and found it was morning. She'd slept through the night. She hadn't done that in ages.

Her fanciful thoughts about magic spells last night flitted back into her mind. It seemed she was becoming a true believer in magic since coming here. The Ranch was magic, the man was magic. She snuggled closer to him, not in a hurry to get up at all. She'd be perfectly content to spend her entire vacation right here.

"Morning, babygirl."

She heard the words rumble in his chest even as they floated in the air.

"Morning, Daddy."

She adjusted her leg just a bit and that was when she felt it. She gasped, even as he cursed and tried to reach under the blankets.

"Um, Daddy," she whispered, "is that..."

"Yeah, sorry, babygirl. I can't help it."

"Oh, I don't mind," she said quickly. Maybe a bit too quickly, if she was honest, but she didn't mind at all. Quite the opposite.

Feeling a bit mischievous, she moved the leg she had over his thigh again, this time a bit more deliberately, making him groan. She liked knowing she still had that kind of effect on him.

"Babygirl," he warned.

She wasn't listening, though, and moved her leg again. She squealed when he flipped them so he was over her and held her wrists captive above her head.

"Playing with fire is dangerous, babygirl." His words were husky with sleep and desire. Maybe she really had been playing with fire because her body was heating up more by the second.

"Sometimes fire is good for you." She'd meant the words to be cheeky, maybe even a bit bratty. What actually came out was more breathy and needy.

Daddy looked into her eyes intently for several long moments as their labored breaths mingled. When he lowered his head this time, there wasn't any part of her that hesitated. She wanted Daddy to kiss her. She wanted it more than anything.

Les

He couldn't have stoppedhimself if he'd tried. Waking up beside her, having her tease him, all of it had been heaven, but when she'd said fire was good with pure need ringing in her tone, he'd known. He couldn't go another second without kissing those lips.

When his mouth met hers, he felt his world shift back into place. This was what he'd been missing. He ran his tongue along the seam of her lips and she opened for him. His tongue swept in, exploring her mouth. Her taste was so much like he remembered and yet it somehow still seemed new.

Rae-Rae's back arched as she tried to get closer. Les released her wrists, bracing himself on his elbows. One of Rae-Rae's hands tangled in his hair, while the other went around him, pulling him in. She moaned as he deepened the kiss and Les thought he might lose his mind.

How could she be making him feel like he was about to come from just a kiss alone? He desperately wanted to keep going, but he knew that wasn't a good idea, so Les forced himself to pull back. When Rae-Rae tried to keep the connection, he almost gave in, but when he claimed this woman again, it was going to be forever. He could wait.

"You're incredible," Les told her, "fucking perfect." With one last kiss to the forehead, Les rose from the bed. "But we need breakfast. We've got a busy day planned."

She still hadn't moved, so Les went over to her side and lifted her up. She squealed for a moment, wrapping her arms around his neck before settling in to enjoy the ride.

"Do you need to use the potty, babygirl?"
