Chapter 8
"Jade!" The scream that rips through my chest is one of pure desperation. When she took off running, it felt like my heart was being ripped from my chest.
"Enough," the big bald alpha sneers. "Either you get the fuck out of this club, or I call the police."
Unadulterated rage and panic fill me. "Listen, buddy, that"s my fucking girl right there. I've been looking for her for the past five years. Don't try me," I snarl, my whole body vibrating.
"Get the fuck out of this club, now!" he barks.
"Zane." Everett's voice sounds next to me, but it's hard to hear through the frantic pounding of my heart and the heaviness of my breathing. "I know you want to rip this club apart to get to her, I want to do the same. But it's only going to end with us in jail. We can't get Jade back if we're locked behind bars."
"We can bail ourselves out," I growl, snapping my eyes over to his.
"Come on." Griffin grabs my arm. I struggle as he and Everett drag me out of the club.
"Let me fucking go!" I shout, shoving myself free of them. Eyes wild and wide, chest heaving, I stare at them like I don't even recognize them. "How are you not ready to fight your way through that whole fucking club to get to our girl?"
"Because..." Everett starts, running a hand through his raven hair, tugging at the roots. "That's not the best way to go about this. Look, we're in shock. After all these years, we've been searching for her, and here she is. I want nothing more than to go after her, pull her in my arms, and never let her go. But we can't."
"Why fucking not?" A wave of fury crashes into me, and I spin around, letting out a scream of rage while smashing my hand into the brick wall.
"Fucking hell, Zane," Griffin curses, grabbing my now bloody hand. I don't feel the pain because nothing could hurt more than finally seeing the only light I ever had in my life again, then being forced to watch her leave... again. "We're in the middle of a fucking tour. You can't go smashing up your fists."
"I don't fucking care." I snatch it back from his grasp, not caring that it's now dripping blood down my fingers and onto the sidewalk below.
"We need to go back to the hotel and think about what we're going to do," Everett says, grabbing his phone. "Hi, yes, we're ready to be picked up." He hangs up. "Limo will be here in a few."
"I'm not leaving!" I shout, adrenaline coursing through my veins. "You"re going to have to drag my broken and beaten body out of here because I'm not fucking going." I turn around, heading toward the doors.
I'm going to get my girl. I'm going to hold her tight and never let her go. And then I'm going to demand she tell me where the fuck she's been all these years.
"Zane!" Griffin grabs at me.
"Let me go!" There"s a struggle, and then I'm shoving my elbow back and up, smashing him right in the nose.
"Fuck!" he roars. "You broke my fucking nose."
A part of me feels bad, but it's overtaken by the need for Jade.
"Screw it," Griffin angrily sighs, lunging for me. He manages to get my arms behind my back as I snarl, grunt, and thrash.
"Stop it. Let me fucking go. I need to get to her," I roar, everything in me demanding to get my omega. "She"s in there. I need to get to her. Please!" My breathing has turned into heaving gasps, but I don't stop struggling, I won't stop fighting. "She's in there, she"s fucking in there!"
"I know!" Everett replies, his voice breaking. "I know, baby. I know she's in there. We're going to get her. We will."
"Do it," Griffin grunts as I hit him in the stomach again.
"Damn it," Everett curses. "I'm so fucking sorry for this, baby."
I'm not sure what he's talking about, but a second later, Griffin swings my body around as a fist comes toward my face. And then everything goes black.
MY HEAD IS POUNDING. How much did I fucking drink?
I groan, trying to move my body, but it feels like my veins are filled with cement.
"Careful," Everett murmurs, and I hiss when I feel something cold touch my face.
"What happened?" I grumble, trying to open my eyes, but I'm only able to get one to crack open.
"You got punched in the face." His handsome face comes into view, sporting a grimace and a guilty look.
"Who fucking punched me in the face?" I groan again as he helps me sit up, placing the ice-pack beside me. I blink my open eye a few times, realizing we're back at the hotel. I don't even remember leaving the bar.
"Me," he mutters.
I sigh, leaning back against the headboard.
"Why the—"
"It was the only way to get you to stop. You were losing it, man. I've never seen you that manic before. Not since..." He looks away, focusing on putting the ice back on my eye. When I don't automatically raise my hand to hold it, he grabs my wrist, slapping my palm against the ice pack until I'm holding it on my own. He won't meet my gaze, but I know what he means. Not since the night I almost ruined all of our lives.
And then everything from the night comes crashing in. "Jade." My pulse picks up, and I try to get out of bed, but Everett shoves me down.
"Stop. Please don't make us have to sedate you," he growls.
"Why the fuck are we at the hotel? Our omega is back at the club."
Our omega. Holy shit, she's our omega.
Not only did Jade not end up becoming a beta like everyone thought she would, she became an omega. And not just any omega. Our omega.
"She's our omega," I whisper, blinking at him in utter shock.
"She is." He smiles softly. "She's our scent match, too. I told you."
When I grabbed Jade, her peaches and cream scent hit me like a punch in the gut. Everything inside me shifted. My heart and soul belonged to her, but this just cemented what I already knew.
"She's an omega," I breathe, staring off to the side. "She's an omega, and she's possibly been exposed to the dangers of this world possibly for fucking years!"
"Zane." Everett gives my knee a squeeze. "You need to relax. You"re finally in a better head space. I need you here so we can talk about what we're going to do."
"What we're going to do is get Jade."
"Yes," he agrees, sounding frustrated with me. "But we can't just barge in there, demanding that she comes with us. It's been years. We need to sit down, talk to her, find out where she's been this whole time. Find out what the fuck happened."
"And why she thought she could fucking disappear from our lives. When I get my hands on her, Rett, I'm gonna spank her ass so damn red she won't be able to sit for a week," I snarl, but the idea of Jade draped over my legs, ass in the air, with her pussy on display has my cock going rock hard.
"Fuck." Everett's eyes widen with desire as he smells my arousal.
"Now, who needs to focus?" I raise a brow.
"Shit." He shakes his head. "You and that damn dick," he sighs. "Look, this is obviously a shock to us all, and I can only imagine what Jade is feeling right now. The biggest thing is getting her to talk to us."
"Where is Griffin?" I ask, looking around to see he's not here. Just as Everett is about to answer, Griffin comes bursting into the room.
"Okay, so here's what I found." He slams the door behind him, striding over to us. I lower the ice that Rett placed on my face, and he cringes. "Oh, fuck. That"s ugly."
"Thanks, and so is your fucking nose," I grumble.
"Be happy it's not fucking broken and that makeup will cover it." He narrows his eyes, flipping me off. "Anyway, here's what I found out about Jade."
"Is that where you were?" I ask him.
He nods. "Called a new fucking PI because the one we hired clearly sucks fucking ass since he found plenty of shit about Jade spanning all these years. And here's the kicker, she never fucking left Vegas."
"What?" Everett looks at him with wide eyes. "You"re telling me she's been here this whole fucking time?"
Griffin nods. "This is all he could get on short notice. There's no information yet on where she was when we went looking for her between the time she was seventeen until she turned eighteen, but about three weeks after her eighteenth birthday she started at The High Roller. She's been working there ever since."
"Are you fucking kidding me!" I roar. I scramble off the bed and begin pacing the room, ignoring the pain in my eye. "She's been here. This whole fucking time? I'm going to fucking kill Mark. I'm going to wrap my hands around his fucking neck and get off on watching the life drain from his fucking eyes."
"You"re not killing anyone," Everett sighs.
"Watch me. Fucking watch me. We hired that man, spent nearly a fucking million dollars to find Jade, and he came back with nothing. He made it seem like she was dead. How the fuck could that be when your guy found out more about Jade in what, an hour?"
"I don't know," Griffin says. "We can find that out later. What matters is we have Jade now."
"Damn right. We're going back tomorrow, and we're going to make her listen."
"Zane," Everett starts, but I'm in his face in a flash.
"Don't fucking ‘Zane' me. I love you, I'd fucking kill anyone who fucked with the two of you, but her..." I shake my head. "She's the only fucking reason why I made it this far."
"You"re not gonna go about this the logical way, are you?" he asks, sounding defeated, knowing there's no point in arguing with me when I have my mind set on something.
"When it comes to Jade, nothing is logical. Our biggest mistake was not telling her she was ours when we were younger."
"You know the only reason we didn't was because if we got caught, those waste of space fuckers would have split us up," Everett reminds us.
"Add them to the fucking list of people we need to take care of."
Griffin takes a seat on the edge of the bed. "She's been here this whole time. Working at that club." A dark look takes over his face. "You know what they do there, right? It's not just dancing for a bunch of rich alphas."
The thought of someone else"s hands on Jade's body fills me with a blind rage. "I know that look," Everett growls. "I don't like the idea of anyone else touching our girl, but we're not innocent."
"Yeah. But that"s different, that"s with each other."
"Maybe she won"t see it that way," Griffin chuckles.
"Fuck you," I snarl.
"Later, if you ask nicely." He grins. Normally, I'd take him up on his offer, but I'm seconds away from losing my shit.
"Enough," Everett huffs. "This is what we're going to do. You." He points to me. "You're going to take some fucking painkillers, keep that ice on your eye, and get some sleep," he orders in his best alpha voice, one that makes my cock hard. "And you, you"re going to do the same, but with your nose. God, Gianna is going to lose her shit if we can't cover that up with makeup."
"Good thing we have a few days off," Griffin counters, pulling his shirt off over his head as he rids himself of his shoes.
My eyes linger on his body, my cock twitching in my pants. I have to rip my eyes away from him before I do something we don't have time for.
"We leave for our International tour in a few days. So we have until then to convince Jade to be ours."
Oh, my sweet, sweet boy, always trying to be the hero. He's going to learn fast that there is no hero in this story. I'm more than happy to be Jade's villain because there"s no way I'd ever give her the chance to say no. It's not an option. We will talk, give her a chance to make the choice for herself. But if it's not the right one, then I will do whatever's necessary to make sure she comes with us.
Jade is ours. And she might not like it now, but over time, she will. I'll make her.
