Chapter thirty-two
Gianni
I t only takes a minute for me to get back to my apartment, and as soon as I do, I’m greeted by an overly excited Kat unlocking my door. Pickles notices me first, lunging toward me.
“Pickles, what the heck!” Kat says to her, but she sees me, and her excitement from moments ago returns in full force.
Pickles rams her head into my thigh, demanding scratches. “Hey there, pretty girl. Were you good for Aunt Kat?”
“As always, she was the perfect girl,” she answers, opening my apartment wide for us to step into.
“Glad to hear it.”
“So.” She waggles her eyebrows at me suggestively. “You spent the night?”
“Yes, Kat. I spent the night.” I roll my eyes at her but can’t help the small smile that breaks free .
She jumps up and down excitedly before saying, “I’m so happy for you, Gi, seriously. You deserve the best things in this world, and I really think Lark is good for you. She’s a good person.”
“She is a good person, but she’s also dealing with a breakup, and it’s not like we’re dating. I have no clue what we’re doing, but I wouldn’t get too excited if I were you.”
“Alright, I’m going to let you simmer in that for however long you need. Let me know if you need me to watch Pickles again in the future.” She smiles, leaning in for a quick hug before leaving.
