Chapter Twenty-Four

Taran

“ Y ou gave me hickeys, by the way. Naughty Dragon.” She grinned, leaning in for another kiss.

“I did what?” Sitting up straighter, I took hold of her shoulders and tilted her upper body back.

“Here.” Maeve inched her chin down to her collarbone, where two large purplish spots bloomed on her skin. “I didn’t even notice when you did that.”

“I need you to keep calm for me, sweetling,” I informed her .

“What? I’m not mad at you, Taran. It’s okay. I was just kidding. I don’t mind love bites.”

“The thing is: they aren’t.”

“They aren’t?” She narrowed her eyes at me but didn’t yet understand.

I had no idea why but I immediately knew what it was.

But how on earth is that even possible?

Dropping my hands to her hips, I sat her on the edge of the pool to get a better look.

“Stop it, Scales. That tickles,” she giggled when I ran my index over one of the spots. “What the fuck is that?” she asked, wheezing a little under her breath.

“Scales,” I told her mechanically.

“Sorry?”

“They are scales, Maeve. Let’s get out of here, please.”

I rose from the pool and stepped out to get towels for us.

“What do you mean? Scales? How? I don’t understand.”

“Come with me, sweetling.” Wrapping her in the huge towel, I guided her out of the bedroom and back to the chair by the window.

With my hands on her knees, I sank to the floor so I could look up at her. “Why didn’t you tell me you had Dragon blood?”

She burst out laughing, all the tension leaving her body. “Come on, Taran, don’t pull my leg.” The laughter died in her throat when she saw that I wasn’t joining in. “You can’t be serious, baby.”

I dragged the towel aside to inspect the spots in daylight. “I am serious. I’ve never met anyone it actually happened to, but it’s a known fact that sometimes that particular heritage will reveal itself when in close contact with a full-blooded Dragon for a longer period of time.”

“So what you’re saying is that I am part Dragon and your cum is giving me scales? What else? Will I start breathing fire or grow wings?”

“I can’t say, sweetling. I don’t think you will look like me but…What about your family? Are you sure there’s no one who could…”

“Not that I know of. My grandmother was German. Maybe I’m turning into a tight-assed bureaucrat?” she struggled up from the chair and walked away from me, clutching the towel around her trembling body.

The trembles were part of the early stages of turning. Or…adapting or however you wanted to call it, seeing as it had always been a part of her.

“Or a Lindwurm?”

“That sounds dirty,” she grumbled, making us both laugh.

“It’s a kind of Dragon common in Germany.”

“Well, she must have had zero sense of humour and been about a thousand years old when she died.”

“Sounds pretty Draconian to me.”

“Taran! Is this a joke to you?”

“No, I’m sorry, sweetling. Or not—I mean, it’s nothing bad. You might just have a few Dragon traits, or be able to trace your traits back to that particular part of you.”

“Damn it, I thought being part German and having brain differences was enough of a burden.” Tears spilled over.

We both laughed again, and I was relieved, and a little alarmed, to see how well she seemed to take it .

“I like the colour.” Maeve peered down at the spots.

“Me, too.” Leaning in, I gently nuzzled my nose into them, making her giggle again. “You look even more beautiful with these,” I murmured, kissing down the swell of her breast until I could wrap my lips around her hard tip and suckle her. “I should stop. I don’t want to overwhelm you, sweetling.”

“Oh, knock yourself out, baby,” she groaned, watching me gently cup her other breasts in my hand, running my clawed thumb over the tight peak, wanting to learn what felt good for her, learn every shred of what turned her on.

Maeve’s breath hitched in her throat at my touch. She tilted her head back, arching deeper into my hands. And before long, she was fidgeting on the chair.

Dragging her into my lap, I brought her down on my cock, grinding our cores together until once more, we fell together.

“I have no idea why I’m not freaking out,” she gasped once we’d come down from our high and I cradled her to my chest and carried her back to the pool for another bath. “But you feel so safe, Taran. It’s really hard to be scared when you’re around.”

With a deep sigh, I lowered us into the still beautifully warm water. “I feel the same when I’m with you, my sweet.”
