Epilogue

I tapped my phone against my thigh, waiting impatiently. The two figures who lay on the ground at my feet were getting restless. They struggled against the zip ties that held their wrists and ankles together. Both tried to shout past the duct tape across their mouths.

I thought about sedating them again, but that would be too easy. They needed to know what was happening. They needed to suffer.

Finally, a dark SUV rolled to a stop beside mine. The doors opened and two younger men stepped out.

"Hey, Doc," one of them greeted.

"Hunter." I gave him a nod. "Parker." They were identical, but I"d noticed Hunter tended to take the lead. Typical of the older twin.

"Hey," Parker replied. "Hunter said you had some assholes you wanted us to deal with?" He glanced down at the two figures rolling on the ground.

"I do. This is Jarrod and Zaden. They tried to rape my woman and her friend."

Hunter grimaced. "I hate rapists. Especially ones who try to touch our women. Don"t worry, these two won"t be touching anyone ever again. Ice Miller is going to have a shit load of fun with them."

"I"m sure he is," I said. "I know you"ll be in touch when you need the favour returned."

"Count on it," Hunter said. "It"s always handy to have a discreet doctor on the books."

The pair was as shifty as fuck, but we were useful to each other from time to time. Especially when it came to eradicating predators like these. The brothers would regret their own births by the time Ice was done with them. They"d certainly regret approaching Marley and Eden.

As for me, I had absolutely no regrets at all. They deserved everything that was coming to them.

I helped the twins to load the assholes into the back of the SUV.

"Thanks for the sugar pills," I said as Hunter closed the back of their vehicle. I didn"t want to know where they got them from, so I didn"t ask.

Hunter grinned. "They look legit don"t they? You might be surprised to know how often they"ve come in useful."

"I can imagine," I said dryly. I stepped back towards my SUV and pulled my keys out of my pocket.

"Later, Doc." Parker waved before slipping back into the passenger seat and closing the door behind him.

"Yeah." I had a feeling it wouldn"t be very long before I heard from the Brantley twins again. They were always up to something. I met them when I helped their brother Reuben and his girlfriend. One favour had led to another and the cycle continued. As long as people tried to fuck with our families, it would keep going. It was easier to have guys like this on my side than against me anyway.

I waited and watched as their tail lights disappeared into the night.

Satisfied, I climbed back into my car and drove home to my woman and her other two boyfriends.
